I would not have kept the check shoot this has happened to me b4. I was going to a Wendy’s after parking my car and there was a blank check on the ground outside my car door, with $300. I was shocked and told my boyfriend who was oon the passenger side. He was like move out the way lol, and he slid down and scooped it up. I was like let me tear up the check cuz it was signed and blank, but the cash we split evenly lol. It came just when I needed it too I was broke and didn’t get paid till next week. But the check no that’s how u go to jail doing dumb things like that. We ended up not even going to the Wendy’s we were just to happy. I saw it as a blessing, cuz it’s not like we knew who it belonged to anyway so we did what we thought was best. She did a good thing.

I would have returned the check with no problem. I am generally honest but if it had been cash, I’m not sure that I can say I would have returned it. I don’t know how the chequing system works in the States but here in the Uk no point keeping it because you couldn’t cash it if it wasn’t in your name and it had to be deposited into an account with the same name the checque was written out to in the first place.

Since this was a cashiers check, the ‘pay to the order of’ section was probably filled in with the name of the person who owns the check. Therefore, if she would have tried to cash it, she would have been charged with a host of violations, one of them being fraud. Let’s not make her a hero just yet, because if this were cash instead of traceable certified funds, we wouldn’t be reading this story………
