Location Last Seen: Roger Jermaine “Jay” Chambers, 34, was last seen by a family friend after arriving in the Red Springs area the evening of Sept. 4 in Hoke County.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Chambers told his family that he had an appointment but didn’t go into specifics. Family members believe he may have gone to meet someone who owed him money.

Chambers is also described as being very friendly and is known to help the homeless. Chambers’ family spoke to him shortly after he left for the appointment and then he spoke to a friend in Red Springs. He was last spotted at a gas station near Red Springs. Chambers then proceeded to go into town and was not heard from again.

“We can actually put him in a certain place at a certain time in Robeson County. Witnesses that saw him and talked to him. Here we are now, just like he totally vanished,” Sheriff Hubert Peterkin, of Hoke County told News 14.

Chambers’ vehicle has never been recovered and there has been no activity on his bank accounts or credit cards. Chambers has not called his children with whom he was very close. He was described as a dependable worker who rarely missed a day at his job.

Foul play is suspected.

“Everything’s wrong,” Peterkin told the Fayetteville Observer shortly after Chambers went missing. “There’s no trace of nothing dealing with this guy anywhere. Nothing at all. His car can’t be found, nothing that he was wearing. I mean, it’s just like he disappeared.”

Chambers’ wife Cynthia knew something was wrong that first night.

“Around 9:48 p.m. I had a bad feeling and I began to call him, and it went straight to voice mail and I woke up at 2 a.m. and he still wasn’t home,” said Cynthia Chambers.

The pain of her husband’s disappearance has not lessened with time. In fact, Chambers’ family, which launched a web page to help find him, misses his presence more and more each day.

“My daughter said ‘Whoever did this or has my daddy, [give] my daddy a chance to see me turn 16, to see me get my license, maybe my daddy won’t see me graduate from high school’,” said Cynthia Chambers.

Last Seen Wearing: Black khaki shorts, black polo shirt with red logo, black and red tennis shoes. He was driving a green 1993 four-door Toyota Camry with chrome rims (pictured at left). A clear paint coat was peeling off the hood.

Case Type: Endangered
Date of Birth: January 27, 1998
Missing Date: June 14, 2012
Age Now: 15
Missing City: Mobile
Missing State: Alabama
Case Number: NCMC1197561

Gender: Female
Race: Black
Complexion: Dark
Height: 5-0
Weight: 150
Hair Color: Black
Hair Length: Medium
Eye Color: Brown
Wear Glasses or Contacts: No.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Police believe that Robinson was last seen at the home of her father, Demetric Hooper. Her father strongly denies any involvement in his daughter’s disappearance. Authorities have detained Hooper without bail since late last year on a charge of interfering with custody, according to Fox News 10.

Police recently conducted a search of an area behind Hooper’s home.

“We’ve consulted with some experts who’ve looked at the case file,” said Cpl. Chris Levy of the Mobile Police. “And basically, they’ve have looked at some past cases and said if there was anywhere you could find evidence looking at a map, it would be in this area. So that’s why the detectives are focusing on this area.”

After conducting a controlled burn of thick underbrush behind the home, cadeaver dogs got a hit.

“We’re thinking, ‘Yes, this is it! We have found her. We have found her.’ [I] got up immediately, made plans, got in the car to come out here, and then we’re halfway here when we got the call that it wasn’t her,” said Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich. “Although this is a disappointment, this is not going to stop our search for her, and we’re going to do whatever it takes.”

According to police, Hooper traveled to Arkansas after his daughter went missing. Police extradited him back to Mobile where he has not cooperated with authorities, they say.

There has been no activity on Robinson’s social media accounts since she went missing in June 2012.

Authorities in Mobile say the FBI is examining evidence in the case and that they will consult with experts at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to decide their next steps.

Those next steps do not include giving up, authorities say.

“We are not going to stop until we find this young lady,” said Rich. “It’s something that we have been very, very closely on for a number of months now and we’re just not going to stop until we find her.”

Police agreed.

“Somebody knows where she’s at,” said Levy. “They need to call us. They need to give us the information so that we can give the family some closure or reunite them with their family. It’s important, and it needs to happen.”

Last Seen Wearing: Unknown.

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: Unknown.

Case Type: Involuntary
Date of Birth: Dec 29, 1992
Missing Date: April 28, 2012
Age Now: 20
Missing City: Yonkers
Missing State: N.Y.
Case Number: 12-45085
Gender: Female
Race: Black
Complexion: Light
Height: 5’6″
Weight: 115
Hair Color: Blonde
Hair Length: Shoulder Length
Eye Color: Brown
Wear Glasses or Contacts: No

Location Last Seen: Leaving N.Y.C. Port Authority 8th Ave. between 41st and 42nd street.

Circumstances of Disappearance: According to Bates’ mother, Vivian Jones, her daughter was returning from a cross country bus trip to New York City from Hot Springs, Ark., on April 26, 2012. Bates is a Bronx High School of Science Graduate, a National Achievement Scholar, and a student of CUNY Hunter College. Jones says she spoke with her daughter on April 27th at about 7:52 p.m. while the bus was on a layover stop in Pennsylvania.

Later, Jones was able to view video that showed Bates on the escalator at New York City’s Port Authority bus terminal at about 8:15 a.m. on April 28th. Bates was later spotted walking south on 8th Avenue. Jones said her daughter told her that she planned to stop in Brooklyn to visit a friend before returning home.

Bates has not been seen or heard from since.

There’s been no activity on Bates’ Facebook page or credit cards since April 26, 2012. And Bates may not have ever made it to see her friend in Brooklyn. The friend claims that he last saw Bates before her cross country trip.

“Stevie never goes without calling me,” said Jones.

Not knowing what happened to her daughter is torture, says her mother.

“All kinds of thoughts go through your head,” she told WPIX 11.

“It’s those times when you get alone that it’s hard to breathe, because I don’t know where to look,” she added.

Bates was scheduled to move in to her parents’ Yonkers home; she had, had her boxes delivered there. More than a year later, those boxes remain unopened because Jones can’t muster up the energy to sort through her daughter’s belongings.

“We have to set up her room so it will be ready for her when she comes home,” said Jones who refuses to give up hope.

Last Seen Wearing: Dark skinny pants; three-quarters length navy blue spring maintenance jacket with the name “Mike” sewn on it; flat-deck-like sneaker, possibly black and white; and a small pocketbook with a long string strap worn over her shoulder across the chest.

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: Bates has a distinct look, with blond shoulder-length dreadlocks. She has two ear piercings in each ear, a nose piercing with small stone in her left nostril, a tongue piercing with a round gold ball tongue ring, and a belly piercing with a 2-inch-long chain belly ring.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Stevie Danielle Bates should contact the Black and Missing Foundation’s confidential Tip Line or New York City or Yonkers Police. The family is offering a cash reward for information that leads to finding Bates.

The body of Ivanice Harris, the Portland woman who went missing in Hawaii while celebrating her birthday, was found nude on a beach Monday.

RELATED: Portland Woman Goes Missing in Hawaii While Celebrating Birthday

Harris, who was in Waikiki celebrating her 29th birthday, was last seen by her friends last Thursday outside of a bar speaking with a man. Harris worked as a traveling escort and advertised in various online publications, reports The Oregonian. Jillian Gibides, one of the women Harris was traveling with, also reportedly told a local Hawaii newspaper that Harris worked as a prostitute.

The Oregonian reports:

Harris has a criminal record in Oregon for theft and tampering with evidence but no prostitution convictions. But both Harris and Gibides have an extensive footprint on escort websites. While early reports about her disappearance indicated that Harris was simply vacationing in Hawaii, she and Gibides appeared in a joint ad on May 11th marketing their services together in Waikiki Beach. Both women had posted previous escort ads in Hawaii over the last year, including one in April 2012 in which Harris explicitly stated money “exchanged is strictly for my quality time.”

Police in Hawaii declined to confirm whether Harris was working as an escort. Harris’ family confirmed her death on a Facebook page they set up to help find her. They are also seeking financial help to bring Harris’ body home.

Ivanice’s body was the body found in Hawaii yesterday. Ivanice’s family would like to THANK everyone for their support throughout these last five days and would also like time to be in peace alone w/ no calls, texts, emails, or visits at this moment. They truly are appreciative of everyones outpouring of support NATIONWIDE.

Harris’ remains were found in a brushy area on a beach in Wai’anae, which is a 50-minute drive from the bar where she was last seen alive. Honolulu homicide detectives are investigating the case. No cause of death has been determined and police have not named any suspects.

Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the Black and Missing Foundation, said Harris had family and friends who loved her.

“Our thoughts and our prayers go out to her family. She did not deserve this. She has a mother and sister who were looking for her. Whatever her profession does not negate the fact that she was missing,” said Wilson. “Sex trafficking is a big issue here in the United States.”

According to a study from Shared Hope International, the average age that minor children in America enter the sex trade is 12 to 14 years old. Many of the victims are runaway girls who have suffered sexual abuse as a child.

“So by the time that they’re Ivy’s age, they really feel that they lack any choices to do anything else. They don’t have any job skills; they don’t have any formal education or training,” Pacific Alliance to Stop Slavery Executive Director Kathryn Xian told KHON 2.

Pimps lead the women to believe that they will protect them and that they will be safe but nothing could be further from the truth.

“It’s highly violent. It places the girl and woman at risk on a daily basis for sex assault, physical violence and emotional, spiritual, and mental trauma,” Xian said.

Wilson said Harris’ case should serve as a warning. More and more, Wilson said, the Black and Missing Foundation is dealing with young girls who run away from home only to end up being sex trafficked.

“If Ms. Harris was an escort, we want this to be an example to our young girls and women that this is a dangerous occupation,” said Wilson.

She was last seen by her friends talking to a man outside of a bar.

Friend Jillian Gibides said she pulled up to the area in a cap and saw Harris outside of the bar.

“When I had gotten out and came around the cab, I looked back over and didn’t see her, so I just figured, okay. She’ll just call me when she needs to,” said Gibidies who told HawaiiNewsNow that she considered Harris to be a sister.

Friends and family say it is unusual for Harris to go this long without contacting family.

“The last message we have from her is a text message to our mom on Wednesday,” Harris’ sister Holley Watson told the Oregonian. “She was having a good time. She went to breakfast [on Wednesday]. She went to the beach in the afternoon and she seemed to be extremely happy and enjoying herself.”

Harris’ mother said they spoke regularly.

“Every single day. She and I talk every single day. And I hadn’t heard from her,” said Harris’ mother, Patricia Harris. “And I said okay, she didn’t text me back. That’s when I got the text from her boyfriend, but she was having a great time.”

“I know her, and I know her well enough that this is not normal,” said Gibides. “And on her birthday?”

Circumstances of Disappearance: According to reports, Wiley was last seen near a Dairy Queen on the university’s campus.
Martin described her daughter as a “brilliantly bright young woman who has her whole life ahead of her” who would not want to “put her family through this much grief.”

“She has her family who wants her home.
“We do have some information, but we are missing that one piece,” Lt. Paul Vance said at a press conference. “No matter how small you might think your information is, that little piece may help us move the investigation to the next level.”

Martin reiterated the plea on her daughter’s behalf.

“Please find it in your heart to open up your mouth and speak. Anything is better than nothing. Please help us bring our loved one, our baby home,” said Martin.

The 57-year-old uncle of a Texas teenager who was found dead days after she went missing last November has been charged with capital murder, Fox News 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reports.

RELATED: Alicia Moore’s Family Criticizes Police Response To Her Missing Case

Michael Moore was arrested Monday at the Grand Prairie, Texas home he shares with his father and charged with killing his 16-year-old niece, Alicia Moore. He is being held on $10 million bond. Local authorities took DNA samples from Moore’s family members, but would not say how they narrowed their investigation on the uncle.

As NewsOne previously reported, Alicia went missing Nov. 2, after being dropped off a block from her home by her school bus. Police released the last known image of Moore, which showed her exiting the school bus and looking calm and normal. She was found dead four days later inside a truck some 40 miles away in the town of Wills Point.

A neighbor of Michael Moore’s father spoke fondly of the murder suspect when asked about his arrest. “He is the nicest guy. He takes care of his yard, working, cleaning everything,” said Diane Garland.

Neighbors saw Van Zandt County authorities searched Moore’s home for evidence Monday night before arresting him without incident. Van Zandt County Sheriff Michael Lindsey admitted that the arrest of a family member in connection to Alicia’s death is disturbing.

“I know this is not the outcome that they were expecting,” he said. “I just want our community and the community around Greenville to know we continue to hurt for that family.”

Fox News 4 has more:

While news of the arrest stunned the people of Greenville, it also came as a relief to those who still worried a killer was on the loose.

Family members had been critical of police for not issuing an Amber Alert after the disappearance. Greenville police said the incident didn’t match the criteria needed.

Now, the family is stunned one of their own is the alleged killer.

“We’re not answering any questions or giving out any interviews,” said Jennifer Byrd, Alicia’s aunt. “Maybe in a day or two. We just want a little time, since we are overcoming the shocking news that we had late last night.”

School superintendent Don Jefferies is part of the community that rallied to support Alicia Moore’s family. He brought flowers, teddy bears and prayers to the intersection where she got off a school bus and was last seen.

The arrest is a relief for Jefferies.

“It gives us peace of mind that you’ve got a perpetrator out there – alleged perpetrator – who has been caught,” Jefferies said. “We’re excited they’ve got a suspect, hope they’ve got the guilty party so this family and community can have some rest from that.”

Longtime high school friend Heather Spurgin says Alicia never mentioned her uncle Michael. Heather never met him.

“The fact that it was by a family member, someone she trusted and she loved that makes it that much worse,” said Spurgin. “Not only did they lose her but they also lost another family member because he did this to her and now he has to pay for what he did.”

They spend almost 80 hours per week outside of their regular jobs to help bring attention to the plight of missing persons of color who often get less media attention than their White counterparts. They’ve partnered with NewsOne to help produce the weekly “Black and Missing” column as well as TV One’s “Find Our Missing,” which is hosted by award-winning actress S. Epatha Merkerson.

Now, Natalie and Derrica Wilson (pictured from left), co-founders of the Black and Missing Foundation, need your help.

In an effort to continue raising money to continue their important work, the Black and Missing Foundation is hosting its first 5k run/walk fund-raiser on May 25th in Ft. Washington, Md.

SEE ALSO: Yes, Black Women Can Get Along

The Hope Without Boundaries 5k, presented by the National Child Identification Program, will allow Natalie and Derrica to continue to help African Americans find their missing loved ones safe and sound. And even in cases where the news is not good, they still are able to provide families with some sense of closure so they aren’t left forever wondering what happened to their loved one.

The work they do is invaluable to those whose loved one has just gone missing, especially since the statistics are discouraging.

While Blacks only make up 13 percent of the country’s population, they make up more than 33 percent of those reported missing in the FBI’s database. According to the National Crime Information Center, there were almost 30,000 active missing persons cases in the country.

Blacks make up almost 12,000 of those cases or about 40 percent. Of the 173 Amber alerts in 2010, 30 percent were for African-American children.

After seeing the lack of attention that some missing African Americans receive in the media, Natalie and Derrica have set out to make change. Using Derrica’s law enforcement background and Natalie’s public relations and marketing background, the two women, along with countless volunteers, have been able to put African-American missing cases front and center.

“Through our personal funding and donations we maintain an online clearinghouse. In addition, we provide support to the families of the missing with flyer distribution, financial support, victim recovery, and burial service assistance,” said Natalie Wilson.

Since launching in 2008, the Black and Missing Foundation has helped locate 113 missing people of color. Seventy-one of those who have been located were found alive.

They’ve also been able to bring attention to the cases of missing African Americans by serving as spokespeople on news programs such as CNN.

But they need our support to keep on going.

“Black and Missing Foundation Inc. is hosting its first annual ‘Hope Without Boundaries’ 5K Run to bring awareness to missing persons of color and honor National Missing Children’s Day. We believe that awareness is vital in finding our missing or providing much needed closure for their families.,” said Derrica Wilson.

Testimonials, like this one from Goldia Coldon, whose daughter, Phoenix, went missing in 2011, show the important work the Black and Missing Foundation is accomplishing:

When my daughter, Phoenix Coldon, did not come home and had not called on Monday, December 19, 2011, after leaving our driveway on the previous afternoon (Sunday, December 18, 2011), I called several local television stations to get her face and missing situation before the local population. I had absolutely no success. I then designed my own flyer with pictures of Phoenix as well as her physical description and description of her vehicle that she was driving. I put that flyer on my personal Facebook page and sent it to everyone on my e-mail list.

Someone down the line gave Phoenix’s information to the Black and Missing Foundation that I had never heard about. Derrica Wilson called me, offered her assistance, and changed the entire process. She and Natalie designed a more professional flyer, listed Phoenix on their website, contacted not only local television stations but national stations and newspapers, and talked with me for hours while I talked about my beautiful Phoenix. They even just held the phone while I cried, sobbed, blew my nose, and cried some more.

I love both of them and am grateful beyond words for their help. I hope to meet them one day and give them a warm hug and kiss on the cheek. We have not found Phoenix yet, but I am more confident that we will find her soon as a result of the exposure that was afforded to Phoenix by the Black and Missing Foundation.

Location Last Seen: Parlay’s Bar in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue about 3:30 a.m. Monette was last seen sleeping in her black two-door 2012 Honda Accord with the Louisiana license plate WUN494 in the rear parking lot Saturday about 5 a.m.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Police said Monette told her friends she was going to sleep in her car, because she had just consumed alcohol, before driving home. Police said she was seen in the parking lot with an unidentified man about 4 a.m.

Monette was a 2nd grade teacher who moved from California a year ago. The 26-year-old would never disappear without warning, say family and friends.

“Absolutely not, absolutely not,” said Sheryl Bennett, Terrilyn’s aunt. “This is not like her at all, not even a phone call.”

Her mother, Toni Enclade, said she’s in regular contact with her daughter.

“I talk to her daily, sometimes several times a day,” Enclade added. “It just doesn’t make sense and we are worried sick.”

The young woman had just been nominated for teacher of the year and may have been out celebrating.

“I absolutely do not regret my decision to move out here,” Monnette said in a YouTube video from 2011. “Becoming a teacher in New Orleans is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.”

Monette’s disappearance has sparked wild, unsubstantiated rumors that the Russian Mob may have been involved. Police had to put out a statement to quell the nonsense.

“We cannot substantiate this rumor,” said Officer Frank Robertson, an spokesman for the NOPD, “there are no prudent facts or evidence to support this claim. We are in in touch with other local law enforcement agencies and the federal authorities to make them aware of this hoax.”

Last Seen Wearing: She was last seen wearing a pink and yellow sweater with blue jeans.

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: She has a tattoo on her left leg.

Location Last Seen: Dorien was last seen on Penny Road in Jamestown, North Carolina. His bike was found on Penny Road at the back entrance of City Lake Park two weeks after his disappearance.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Dorien recieved a phone call Jan 10th at 12 midnight. He left the house with flannel pajama pants and a jacket and rode off on a bike as if he was going to meet someone. He left his computer, video game, and television on.

Betty Jackson, Dorien’s mother, is bewildered.

“He left out the door that night,” Betty Jackson said to the Thomasville Times. “I thought he was coming right back. He had fries in the toaster and a movie on. He didn’t take no clothes or anything. Somebody had called here just before he went out the door. I asked [his friend] if he came up there, and he said yes. He said [Dorien] left around one in the morning. Between here and there, nobody has seen him. Nobody has seen nothing.”

The family said the teen would sometimes leave home for a few days at a time but has never been gone this long. There’s been no activity on his Facebook page. The family has posted fliers but have had no luck for more than 40 days.

When Jackson’s bike was found, the family became even more worried.

“It’s scary when we found the bike, like for sure enough, something really did happen ’cause here is his bike, he wouldn’t leave the bike,” said Betty.

The park and the lake near where the bike was found have both been searched.

Now, the family is counting on the kindness of the public to help bring desperately needed answers.

“I want them, if they had seen anything, or heard anything, I would like for them to please let us know, because this is very hard on the family, and it’s very hard in waiting and not knowing and if anybody even knew anything about what happened to him, I pray and hope they will let us know,” said Betty.

Last Seen Wearing: Plaid pajama pants and black coat with cream lining. He is light skinned with very large Afro.

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: Multiple tattoos

Circumstances of Disappearance: Danyus, 62, disappeared on September 27th, after helping to make funeral arrangements for his younger sister. Danyus’ family said he helped his 82-year-old mother prepare the arrangements after his sister died of lung cancer.

“We saw him on Wednesday (Sept. 26), when we made the arrangements,” his brother Charles Danyus told the Lake County News-Sun.

Danyus had breakfast with his wife and son the next day, but that was the last time Vicki Daynus saw her husband, she told NewsOne. He stopped answering his phone and wasn’t home when she returned. Issac Danyus also did not show up at his sister’s funeral.

“His clothes for the funeral were laid out just as he left them,” said Mrs. Danyus. “He hasn’t used any of our bank cards. I’ve checked the morgue and the homeless shelter and the police have nothing.”

The couple has been married for 38 years and he has never gone missing before, said Mrs. Danyus. Her husband is a truck driver.

Mrs. Danyus said her husband’s Chevrolet Blazer was found at an apartment complex near Washington Street and Greenleaf Avenue. Their only connection to the area was that their son lived in the apartment complex there two years ago.

“It looked like he just walked away,” said Mrs. Danyus. “There was no cell phone or no car keys in the car. Even his boss said he never misses work and this is not like Ike.”

“We can’t figure out why his truck was there,” his brother said.

The family did a door-to-door search of the apartment complex and searched a nearby wooded area. They even reached out to people from Danyus’ previous hometown with no luck.

Mrs. Danyus said her husband was less responsive than she expected after his sister died.

“He didn’t cry, he didn’t hug his mom whom he’s very close with like I would expect,” said Mrs. Danyus.

But the day he went missing, police still found a checklist of errands and other household chores that Danyus planned to accomplish that day.

Mrs. Danyus said her husband didn’t take any of his medicines or clothes.

With his 82-year-old mother dealing with the death of her daughter, Mrs. Danyus believes her husband would not have left on purpose and added an additional burden to his mother during a time of grief.

Mrs. Danyus worries that his sister’s death may have caused some sort of mental shock in Danyus, causing him to become confused and wander off.

Either way, she believes her husband is in danger.

“This is not like my husband. I’ve been with this man all my life. We are all having a hard time, his kid, his grandkids, his mom. We are taking it hard,” said Mrs. Danyus. “I just want to find him.”

Last Seen Wearing: Brown jacket

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: Index finger on right hand shorter than index on left.

If you have information regarding the whereabouts of Isaac Winifred Danyus, please contact the Waukegan Police Department at (847) 599-2608 or the Black and Missing Foundation’s confdential Tip Line.

The search for Dynasty Myles, a 23-year-old Detroit mother who went missing at the beginning of the year, has ended tragically. Dynasty’s family has confirmed with Fox 2 News Detroit that she was found dead in an abandoned home on the city’s west side.

Her body, which was naked and frozen, was discovered by a city worker. As NewsOne previously reported, she went missing on New Year’s Day after leaving her 6-year-old daughter with her father and stepmother at their home in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit. Dynasty called around 9 p.m. that night to say she would drop by the next morning to leave some clothing for her daughter.

She never showed up.

Her vehicle was found in the parking lot of Benihana, the Japanese restaurant where she worked at the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn. Dynasty’s sister said she ordered takeout from the restaurant on the night she disappeared but did not pick it up.

“The family is devastated and they will have further comment after we find out the manner and cause of death,” David Jones, the family’s lawyer told the Detroit Free Press, adding that Myles’ parents were notified in a meeting late Tuesday with Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad. “They’re hoping that anyone with any information comes forward.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000 reward for information on her disappearance. Though that could increase to $2500 if her death is ruled a homicide.

Location Last Seen: In the 2200 block of Ursulines Ave.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Unknown. Landry was riding a green Huffy mountain bike ride when she went missing. Friends say Landry was in recovery from drug addiction but had transformed her life. She owned a boutique and had become a minister.

“She’s a success story,” friend Pastor Andrew Van told WWLTV. “She went back to school, she got a GED, she opened up a business, she’s in college right now at Delgado Community College.”

The website for her boutique described herself as “a woman of style and class.” The day she went missing, Landry was bike riding with friend Gary Studivant. Landry stopped to speak with a person from the church ministry when Studivant told her he was too tired to continue on. Landry reportedly said she would continue to the park by herself.

“She was stressing, but she was feeling good,” Studivant told the station. “She said, ‘I just want just ride down there and clear my head.’ I guess think things over, you know.”

Friends think she would have tried to access money in her account or her possessions if she had suffered a relapse.

Almost a year later, there’s still no trace of Landry.

“I’m trying not to think foul play, suicide, or homicide, but there’s something that’s wrong here,” Van said.

Aiesha Fletcher of Romulus, Mich., has been missing since Jan. 6 and her family is fearing the worst.

Scroll down for news video

Fox 2 News Detroit reports that Fletcher, the mother of a 1-year-old, left her Romulus apartment last Sunday around 10:15 p.m. No one has heard from her since then. Quannell Hooks, her boyfriend and the father of their child, said she left the house that day to hang out with her friends in the couple’s gray SUV, a 2005 KIA Sorento with the license plate GCF 3371.

Hooks believes she was headed to Detroit to hang with a new female friend–a woman whom she met during a two-day stint in the Wayne County Jail. Neither Fletcher’s grandmother, Gena Benson, nor her boyfriend knows the woman–not even a name. Benson says her granddaughter is very responsible and would never stay gone so long without telling someone.

“She would not keep that car from Quannell because she knows he has to go to work, but beyond that she’s not going to leave her baby.”

Efforts to reach Fletcher via her cell phone have been unsuccessful; her phone is dead. Quannell said that he reported his girlfriend missing on Jan. 7 during a visit at the Romulus Police Department but said officers with whom he spoke told him that she is probably away “blowing away steam.” (During her Fox News interview, the grandmother said that Fletcher’s jail time was linked to a domestic violence dispute between she and Quannell)

Benson said that she called Fletcher’s job to see if she has been to work. She hasn’t. Her grandmother added that Fletcher has not picked up her check. Romulus police told Fox 2 News that they are calling this case suspicious.

If you know anything about Fletcher’s disappearance, you are urged to call the Romulus Police Department at 734-941-8400.

PHILADELPHIA — A 5-year-old girl who was taken from a school classroom by a woman claiming to be her mother was found safe Tuesday morning just outside the city and police were searching for her abductor.

SEE ALSO: Who’s Going To The Presidential Inauguration?

Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said a man walking down the street around 4:40 a.m. heard cries for help and found Nailla Robinson (pictured) hiding under a jungle gym in a park, wearing only a T-shirt. She’s been taken to the hospital to be checked out, Chitwood said, but is expected to be OK.

The investigation was continuing, Chitwood said, and police are looking for the suspect.

Police said Nailla was taken Monday morning from the Bryant School. Authorities released surveillance video showing a woman wearing a full-length, black Muslim garment, her face covered by a black veil, taking the girl out of the school.

SEE ALSO: Happy Birthday To Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.!

Nailla’s mother had appeared on local media Monday night, tearfully pleading for her safe return, and explaining how she also wears the traditional chador and niqab.

School district spokesman Fernando Gallard said the woman identified herself as the girl’s mother and police said her signature on the school visitors log was illegible. All visitors are supposed to go to the school office after signing in, but Gallard said the woman went straight to the classroom and that the teacher released the girl.

“She said she was there to pick up her daughter,” Gallard said. “She took the child and walked out of the school.”

The district is conducting an internal review of the incident and going over procedures with the staff, Gallard said.

Under school policy, he said, the teacher is supposed to tell the person to go to the office, where the student would be signed out. “The exchange does not happen at the classroom level,” he said.

Police discovered that the girl was missing later that afternoon, when a caretaker from the child’s after-school program came to pick her up.

Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos both vanished almost a decade ago after each had separate encounters with Cpl. Steven Calkins of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

“This is injustice,” said Perry, who held hands with Williams’ mother throughout the news conference that was also attended by the Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network and Benjamin Jealous, president of the NAACP.

“I don’t think this is about race or social status as much as it is about, no matter who we are, we should be outraged that this is happening in America in 2013,” he added.

Perry has tried to use his star power to bring national media attention to the cases for a few years now.

Williams was last seen in the vicinity of 111th Ave. and Vanderbilt Dr. in Naples, Fla. He was possibly sighted later that day at a convenience store in the vicinity of Wiggins Pass and US 41. His vehicle, a white Cadillac, was found on Vanderbilt Beach Rd. in Naples, Fla., on January 12, 2004. Williams was last seen with Calkins, a nearly 17-year Collier Sheriff’s Office veteran.

According to a report in the Naples Daily News, the officer was “fired from the Sheriff’s Office in August 2004. Eight pages in the Sheriff’s Office internal probe outline Calkins’ “lies and inconsistencies about what happened.”

The officer was the same man last spotted with Felipe Santos, a 23-year-old Mexican laborer, who disappeared just three months before. Williams’ mother was notified by the Mexican Consulate about the similarity in Santos’ case and that of her son’s. The officer says he dropped both men off in locations that were about four miles apart.

Asked to explain the two cases, Calkins told the Naples Daily News, “Coincidence extreme and that’s all it is. It was just bad luck. It was bad luck … I didn’t think anything of it.”

Calkins has not been charged with any crimes in relation to the two missing persons cases.

That hasn’t stopped Perry from pursuing justice in the case.

The Collier County Sheriff’s office said in a statement that both men are considered endangered missing persons.

“Both Williams and Santos are considered missing and endangered and both were last seen in the company of now-fired deputy Steve Calkins,” the sheriff’s department noted in a news release today.

Both Sharpton and Jealous agreed.

“The only way to turn a cold case into a live case is turn up the heat,” said Jealous. “The NAACP has not forgotten about Mr. Williams, Mr. Santos and this deputy who remains of interest.”

“This kind of issue requires all of us black, white, Latino, Asian, rich and poor to come together,” said Sharpton of the now-multi-agency investigation into the men’s disappearances.

Showing the power of Perry’s efforts, a man came forward during the news conference and began crying. He said he had information regarding the case and felt that his life was in danger.

“Be here for my safety,” said the man.

Authorities have spoken to the man to determine if he has any relevant information.

Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the Black and Missing Foundation, praised Perry’s efforts.

“We are pleased that Tyler Perry, Rev. Al Sharpton and Ben Jealous, President and CEO of NAACP, are using their platform to bring awareness to the disparity in media coverage of missing persons of color,” Wilson told NewsOne.

“Unfortunately, the disappearance of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos are all too common in our communities. According to FBI statistics, 678,860 people in the United States were reported missing in 2011. Among those, about 40 percent, or 270,680 individuals, were people of color – that number continues to grow at an alarming rate. But with scant media attention yet plenty of stereotypes and other presumptions, this sector of the missing population has largely gone under the radar,” Wilson added.

Williams’ mother said she won’t stop until she has answers about what happened to her son.

“I’ll never give up,” said Marcia Roberts.

“Terrance has four children,” she said. “I have to have answers. I demand to have answers.”

The second season of TV One’s Find Our Missing with Golden Globe, Emmy and Tony award-winning actress S. Epatha Merkeson kicks off at 9/8C tonight. The hour-long show profiles missing African-Americans who often go under the radar of mainstream media. By providing in-depth details of two cases per show, the program hopes to spark the memories of viewers to help solve missing persons cases and bring closure to families.

“Find Our Missing” aims to help bring more missing persons home or provide much needed closure for families,” said Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the Black and Missing Foundation which partners with NewsOne and TV One.

“At a time when there has been an increase in the number of persons of color who have simply vanished from our communities, the series, in conjunction with Black and Missing Foundation, Inc, will continue to be instrumental in getting the message out as broadly as possible to help find “our missing.””

African-Americans account for more than a third of the missing persons in the FBI’s database but make up just 13 percent of the country’s population.

“Missing persons of color such as Stevie Bates, Bianca Green, Athena Curry, and Larry Stackhouse, Jr. are often uninteresting to major networks and their stories are rarely told. We are excited that season two of “Find our Missing” will provide extra visibility to help bring more missing persons home or provide much needed closure for families,” added Black and Missing Foundation president and co-founder Derrica Wilson.

This season, the show will profile or update cases on missing individuals such as Phoenix Coldon, a 23-year-old college student who was last seen backing out of her parent’s driveway. The keys were found in her car and the car was still running. It wasn’t until Coldon went missing that her parents discovered things about their daughter that they didn’t know. Her parents told NewsOne recently that there were hopeful developments in the case.

This season will also delve into the tale of Terrance Deon Williams, who disappeared in 2004 at the age of 27 from Naples, Florida. Williams was last seen with a local sheriff’s deputy. His case has drawn the attention of filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry. A full season two list of Find Our Missing episodes can be found here.

“We hope that these profiles will compel someone with information to come forward and help these families. We can all play a part– big or small– in addressing this issue,” said Natalie Wilson.

Dynasty Myles, a 23-year-old mother from Detroit, Mich., has been missing since New Year’s Eve, Fox 2 News Detroit reports.

Myles was last seen on New Year’s Day, when she dropped off her six-year-old daughter with her father and stepmother at their Southfield home. She called that night around 9 p.m. to say she would drop by the following morning to leave some clothing for her daughter. She has not been seen or heard from since.

“We didn’t think anything of it at first because she’s young and we just thought she was just out, and then the second night, that’s when it was like something’s wrong. There’s no contact. She hasn’t called,” her stepmother, Tara Paymon, told Fox 2 News. What makes Myles’ disappearance more suspicious was that her sister planned on meeting up with the missing mother at her work place, a Japanese restaurant at Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn.

Myles ordered takeout but did not pick it up. When her family filed a missing persons report, police found Myles’ car in the restaurant’s parking lot but here was no trace of her. “Her car was left at the Fairlane center, which is odd because she always had her car,” Paymond said.

“It’s hard for everybody because this is not her,” said her cousin Victor Dorris. “This is very, very unusual for her to be gone this long and not call and check up on her daughter or just call her father or stepmother. They talk constantly.”

The family continues calling Myles’ phone, but it does not ring.

“We hope that someone who has had contact with Dynasty since New Year’s Day will contact us with information on her whereabouts,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad told the Detroit Free Press.

If anyone has information about Myles disappearance, please call the Dearborn Police Department at 313-943-2241 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 313-943-3012.
