LOS ANGELES — The first interview with Rihanna about Chris Brown’s assault on her is airing this week on ABC.

The network says the pop star’s one-on-one with Diane Sawyer will air Thursday and Friday on “Good Morning America” and Friday evening on the news magazine “20/20.”

Brown’s attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna occurred in February. He was sentenced in August to five years’ probation, six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling after he pleaded guilty to felony assault.

Rihanna’s ABC interview coincides with the debut of her new single, “Russian Roulette,” from her upcoming album, “Rated R.” It’s her first CD since 2007′s multiplatinum “Good Girl Gone Bad.”

I think this whole Brown/Rihanna thing went waaay to far! I dont trust that lil girl and think she assaulted him first, think about it,how does a child thats mother was abused grow to be an abuser? Dont yall think he would of been against it? SELF DEFENSE IS SELF DEFENSE EITHER WAY!! Im not saying its not possible but Im sayin that thats a 2-way street!!And just to clear the air, either way he was wrong Im not taking that away from him but….it takes 2 to tango shes NOT innocent, where were the repercutions in her part? She destroyed that boys career for her own selfish reasons and or jelousy! Its not right for people to judge him soooo hard and not have the same for her! Just my opinion

foxylady007 where do you thik people learn how to abuse? they learn it from the home. i no ur not taking his side but if you look at the studies on domestic violence you will see that males that grow up in a abusive houshold are more likly to abuse and that girls that grow up in a abusive houshold is more likly to end up with an abuser. she did not destory his career he did that all by hisslef. evan if she did hit him first he should have had control over hisself and called the cops on her. like you said it takes 2. he was wrong. no matter what she did he had no right to put his hands on her. what should she have done just went home and acted like it never happened then the next time he would have killed her and eveybody would have been like y she aint tell nobody what he was doing to her. y do we always have to blame the victim? should his life be over because he made a wrong choice? no it should not be. but insted of doing interviews about how much he still love her he should be working on hisself and helping other young men and boys to either stop or prevent them from becoming abusers.

I just have one question and then I’m done with this whole mess: Why did it take her so long to freakin talk?? Frankly I’m tired of hearing about her. And this whole thing is getting really old. Isn’t there anything else in the news we can talk about?

dutchesof3… I can’t get with the whole self control thing on his part.

Why in the hell do women (such as yourself) always think a woman can do whatever and a man should have all the control?

That’s beyond weak, women ask for equality in everything but hold men accountable when they themselves should be held accountable as well.

for the fact she was “abused” she ALSO should have been ordered to seek treatment for being involved, no treatment on her part just means she’ll more than likely attract the same kind of violence in future relationships… Now how is that right?

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Stan_Vinyl/ Stan_Vinyl

and for the record… MEN ARE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO ABUSE, IT GOES A VARIETY OF WAYS.

Kids hitting parents or killing parents, Women abusing men, women abusing women, men abusing men, and the obvious senario.

Open your mind. America got you clouded and/or blinded.

I have to AGREE with ya’ll Stan_Vinyl,foxylady007,and Da_J_RoK and I had spoke on this matter before and got a BIG CYBERSPACE NET HATING BIT*H RESPOND TO ME-IN A DISRESPECTFUL WAY IN-WHICH I GAVE HER WHAT SHE ASK FOR AND SPOKE MY MIND-THEN JOKED HER A$$. RIHANNA AND CHRIS BOTH DID SOMETHING AND WE WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPEN IN THAT CAR NOR WILL WE GET THE TRUTH OUT OF NITHER ONE. SHOULD CHRIS BROWN GOT ALL THOSE CHARGES-TO ME…HELL NO. SHOULD THEY BOTH HAD BEEN CHARGED-YES AND SHOULD THEY BOTH GOT HELP-YES. NOT ALL MEN WHO GREW UP WHERE THERE MOTHER GOT BEAT AND THEY GREW UP ONLY TO TURN OUT THE SAME WAY-SOME BE THE ONES WHO GET THERE A$$ BEAT AND LOOKED AT AS A PU$$IE BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T HIT BACK. MOST OF THE WOMEN BE THE ONES WHO GREW UP AND TURN VIOLENT AND SAY I WILL KILL A MAN IF HE HIT ME. WE ALL ARE IN TITLE TO OUR ON OPINION AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT NOR AGREE THEN MOVE THE FU*K ON TO ONE YOU WILL AGREE WITH. MY POINT IS LIKE STAN SAID,MEN GET BEAT ON AND THEY DIE AT THE HANDS OF A WOMAN-JUST LIKE WOMEN DO. IM NOT THE ONE WHO WILL PLAY ONE SIDE…I TREAT EVERYONE THE SAME-UNLESS YOU COME OFF ON ME,WRONG THEN ITS A HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLORS. I DON’T CARE IF YOU CHOSE NOT TO AGREE WITH ME-BUT DO IT IN A RESPECTFUL WAY.

It’s simple to me if u don’t want to get hit, don’t put your hands on someone else. Domestic violence does go both ways it’s just that we are more likely to hear about domestic violence against women than men. To me it does have to do with control and the loss of it. It is never right or okay to put your hands on anyone male or female. However, I do understand that no matter what women a man is always stronger than us, so to fight him or to put hands on him expect to get hit back. Everyone should take responsibility for themselves. Since he did put his hands on her than he deserves what he got and should be punished. No one should be attacked or beat up. If it gets that bad have control for yourself and leave walk away. It is never ok to hit or hurt another person. Women stop allowing the men to get away with the domestic violence, especially this is one of the main reasons why women day a year. And men stand up and talk about it, if u r getting abused u r getting abused and no one men or women should have to put up with it….

YES…Stan_Vinyl I agreed, with you…lol don’t blame me-if CHA_CHIA GRIMLIN PET come after you-too. I want lie just because a woman get hit nor will I take sides. When in most cases WOMEN DO START the FIGHT and EVEN WHEN the MAN TRY to LEAVE or WALK AWAY-the WOMAN JUMP ON HIM AND TRY TO CLAW,CUT,HIT,AND DO ANYTHING ELSE SHE CAN TO EITHER MAKE HIM HIT HER OR STAY. VIOLENCE IS VIOLENCE…NOMATTER WHOS HAND IT COME FROM. AND YOU HIT IT ON THE HEAD WITH THE PARENTS…I SEE KIDS ALL THE TIME TALKING BACK TO THERE PARENTS AND HIT’ING THEM…I JUST BIT MY LIP AND GO ON-THANKING GOD,IT WASN’T ME-IN THERE SHOES. I WILL TELL ANYBODY-IF MY PARENTS WAS ALIVE TODAY AND YOU PUT ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY-ON THE TABLE AND SAID,WILL YOU HIT OR TALK BACK TO YOUR PARENTS-THE MONEY IS YOURS,I’LL ASK IS YOU FU*KING CRAZY…I WOULD NOT DO IT. MY DAD FOUGHT IN WORLD WAR 2 AND NOBODY WOULD TEST HIM-BECAUSE HE TOLD US I BROUGHT YOU IN THIS WORLD AND I’LL TAKE YOU OUT AND HE MEANT IT TO THE FULLEST.

I find it interesting that so many people are okay with a man beating on a woman. And statistics show and prove that overwhelmingly a higher percentage of women are abused by men then the other way around. This is why most states have changed the laws so that they can still go ahead and file charges against men who have been accused of abuse because a large number of women will change their mind or don’t show up to court. It tells a lot about our society when people are more concerned about someone singing career then them attacking people.

Rihanna wants to be seen as brave because now she wants to speak out about the incident. You can not have it both ways. On one side we want to be equal and not be set apart from men. But on the other side we want to be so fragile and set apart on certain issues. You should not do something to someone that you do not want done to you. She had no business putting her hands on him or running her mouth. She instigated the fight and then when it got out of hand she wanted to cry about it. Chris was wrong to put his hands on her but none of us were actually there so we really don’t know what happened. All I know is that you are to treat people the way you want to be treated. If you don’t want to be hit then don’t hit anyone else.

@mrsmoe33- you hit the nail on the head. If she didnt want him to hit her, she should have never hit him…When you lay hands on someone, no matter what the case, you can NOT determine how they will dish it back to you…she just should have been prepared for whatever was going to happen when she HIT HIM FIRST. SHe wasnt crying and fragile while she was slappin and scratching at him in the car…she gets NO sympathy from me…NO man wants his manhood stomped on by some radical azz female. Caribbean women especially are over the top violent.
