He obviously has the money to pay them back, but if he is not satisfied with work, they still have things to do before they get their money. Because he is a celebrity they expect him to just shell out the money without looking at the work and having opinions about it. They should stop taking advantage and do their job. There’s a strong possibility that this is true. This may not mean Tyler Perry is a crook, it could be as simple as a situation of poor accounting and slow action on the part of his accountants.

He is hella busy, how often does he stay home? In that same breath, it takes a company a WHILE before it can get to the point of placing a LIEN on any of your assets. Which means, a situation like this does not mature OVER NIGHT! No, it occurs over time, over letter sent, phone calls made, court visits and court dates set.

There is definitely a problem here. I’m sure he’ll pay, if he’s handling his money properly. What’s interesting is, even though Tyler Perry has 2 nationally televised sitcoms, plays, movies, and books, it does not mean he is SUPER BANK ROLLING. I don’t know the in’s and out’s of his contracts but who owns the rights to his image, his work, plays, movies, television shows, his likeness? How much residual income and royalty is he due- and when? What percentage of his publishing writes does he own? He may own it all, but in most cases- NOT. Why, because most hollywood studios won’t extend such lucrative deals to artist’s. I hope this is not the case for T.P.

I think the whole situation is ridiculous, clearly Tyler Perry is more than capable of paying these outstanding debts. I agree with the last response that he is being attacked by haters. If the contractors did not provide the level of service he expected as a consumer he has the right to have it heard in court and let a judge decide. If the job was done sloppy it means the job was incomplete. They need to fix the sloppy work before they can get paid. I have to say as any consumer whether or not a movie producer/television star/play write, Mr. Perry is entitled to receive what he has asked for or agreed upon! He’s the one spending his money on the project and if the companies are providing poor work and/or incomplete work, then I agree that he should withhold full or partial payment, either until the work has been done to his satisfaction or can be recommended to another company that can complete the work at the original price that was initially agreed upon. Perry makes millions, so I doubt he is unable to pay. In this economy no one can afford to be wasteful. That includes paying for services that was not rendered according to the terms of the contract. It will work its way thru the legal system.

I believe T.P. is going thru what people with money go thru. The Co. did unsatisfactory work which T.P. wasn’t satasfied with so he refused to pay, which I understand. Since he is a celebrity, they went public with it to try and embarrass and humuiliate, come on , you know the man has the money. Of course there’s hatred in the mix also.

All I have to say is, if he wasn’t statisfied with the work that was being done, then why did he continue to have them work. I know he is busy but he or someone was over seeing the work being done and because he didn’t stop it, I believe he needs to pay these people at least for the materials that were used if not for the labor. I say all this because I’ve been in the contracting arena and I’m not an entertainment manager, in the end he is still going to have to pay them something so he needs to not waste time in court and money on lawyers and settle this mess out of court, because no matter how messed the job is or if it wasn’t done to his liking he still has to pay them something regardless.
