They have been co opted by people who have different agendas, but by and large, the tea party was started by Ron Paul supporters whose basic beliefs are less Government spending, less Government intervention in the affairs of other countries, ending the IRS and the FED Reserve and a whole host of solid principles. What has happened here is the “perception” of racism has been pumped by the Mainstream Media, and as usual we buy it hook line and sinker. The media is the biggest lying, racist, conspiracy minded entity we have ever known, and for them to label someone else as such, is at best, laughable. For the record, I’m not a supporter of the Tea Party Movement, but I’m also not a supporter of being manipulated, and told how I should view something. Research Ron Paul, and trust me, he would have been 3x the President Obama the magician has turned out to be, and this country would have been well on its way to REAL recovery, with sound economic principles and a true withdrawal of troops from foreign lands.

@Casey, anyone is free to show up at a rally, just like a wide variety of groups with their own agenda showed up at the Million Man March. If the movement itself were racist, then why would racist groups have to go “recruit?” That statement is absolutely void of all logic. The constitution has flawed aspects to it no doubt, but the fact is, the founding fathers knew and understood that Government interference into the individual’s everyday life would lead to an overall destruction of quality of life. Mr_Nanastroker, trust me, I agree with you 100% about Ron Paul being the lesser of all the evil running around. But that Tea Party movement actually started way before Obama was President. That movement was formed around Ron Paul’s campaign. It has since been co opted by NeoCons (Beck, hannity) and Republicans (who don’t really agree with Paul’s stance on most issues, but are trying to ride that momentum, i.e. Palin, Brown, Steele etc.) I don’t trust ANY politician, or ANY political party. Cynthia McKinney showed what can happen to you if you are REALLY about change. I have actually written a few notes to her asking her to stay out of politics, because she can be so much more effective on the outside, educating the blind, deaf and dumb in my opinion. Very few people realize what JFK, Abraham Lincoln and the James Garfield assasinations were truly about. Also, Alexander Hamilton had two attempts on his life for the same reason along with many others. Trying to eradicate the privately owned FED Reserve’s conrol the money supply of this country. These fools think Obama is the most powerful man in the world?
