Disney Turns “Princess And The Frog” Merchandise Into Big Business

“The Princess and the Frog” is not just Walt Disney’s newest animated film, it’s also Disney’s latest marketing campaign.

With the movie opening on Friday, Disney has already spent weeks promoting, marketing and selling hundreds of film-inspired merchandise products just in time for the holidays.

From dolls to cookbooks to shampoo to bedding to jewelry to video games, Disney is working hard to saturate the market with more than 1,000 items.

“This is such an historic event for us. We are so excited about this. It’s exciting to be able to make good, inspired products from this event,” said Sheila Ullery, vice president of marketing for Disney Consumer Products. “‘The Princess and the Frog’ is a global opportunity for us on the consumer product side.”

The effort appears to be paying off for Disney. The company says it’s already begun out-selling previous Disney princess items by double-digit percentages. People are buying the items from Disney stores, DisneyStore.com and retailers nationwide, which is fueling the demand, according to Disney.

    I agree with everyone else….how come the Prince isn’t Black!??
    Believe it or not, this sends a negative message about black with black
    relationships, and that they can give our women way to another race so easily, almost like slavery! This society will never accept, or admit to the beauty of us BLACK men! Disney, have a BLACK Prince next time, and I’ll be
    impressed! I hope I’m not the only one that sees this!

    I’m just glad they FINALLY have a black princess. Besides I don’t think the prince is white… I mean the story is set in New Orleans and he looks Creole if anything.

    F**k disney , why would anyone care about fitting in now.Its 2009-2010 they should have made up a black princess when they made the first one,its all make believe anyway. I guest the next princess is going to be mexican ,they didn’t do this out of respect for any other race ,nor for the kids not even letters concerning a colored prince or princess. This s**t is for the money.

    I hope black folks don’t buy into this propaganda. Everytime big corporations like TV stations and places like Disney are feeling the money crunch they begin to play on black folks to fill their pockets. For example the CW channel formely the WB all the shows were on there were black sitcoms and now that the ratings went up name changes came in and all the black shows were pushed off the network and all white shows come in. Just look at. Disney is one of the most racist corporations around do your home work. Go back and look at the cartoons and movies that have been put out by Disney. Like black people didn’t exist or we were mocked. I.E. Disney favorites the black crows in the Dumbo movie. Now that the economy is bad Disney figures hey what ethnic groups spends the most money blacks and mexicans lets make a black princess. Please don’t be that blind.

    HOLY SH*T I knew this dumass sight was gonna make this movie into a race issue. LMAO! is there anything that is not a race issue with this sight! And yes this is for the money, what movie is not for the money? The prince is french, yes french! New Orleans, LA. french + black= Creole, duh! Besides If he was black he would’ve had a baby mamma on the side, hustled on the the side, aka named lil froggy tryin to get a record deal and I think thats a lil old in black movies now! Everyone seen Baby Boy and that was the biggest stereo typical movie of blacks, nobody complained then! Thank you jesus, mohummad, and zues that tyrese is doing better movies now! But back to the subject. if you dont like black toys, cartoons etc.. then make it yourself since you have the aspect of what black is!

    Mrlosa whoeva gettin on my nerves LOL luv she black but the prince should of been black. I know that the man that play him is brazillian though. On the flip side when I was in the stiores this past weekend I saw a lot of the princess items and was soooo happy I’m nineteen and might get the stuff myself finally I don’t have 2 get pocahontas or jasmine anymore cuz they was the darkest LOL
