Wow @ some of the people on the list. I didn’t know Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes or Alvin Ailey were gay… Hughes is one of my favorite poets his writings are beautiful.
Anyway I don’t see what some people’s problems are. Half of these people are responsible for getting black people out there and are very influential. They gave us a step in the right direction. Besides Hughes is one of the few blacks that you can actually find in text books in school. I think thats an accomplishment since most of the books have white poets and authors.
And ummm I have to ask: what’s the point of quoting all the scriptures? I mean no offense to you or your religion but some people could care less and quoting scriputre after scripture isn’t gonna change anybody… maybe just MAYBE some people need to just let that go…. (just a suggestion)

It was also used to control slave populations in the 19th century, HIGHLIGHTING the perverse practice of slavery, in order to show the practice acceptable. First of all. Im heterosexual. And I’m really disgusted with the Gay Agenda that’s being forced down our throats. But as a Christian I have to say that Homosexuality is just as bad a sin as fornication, adultery, lying, stealing..etc. We sometimes bash gay people because their stance is so bold often saying, “God made me this way”. I’d argue the homosexual has the boldest stance against God than any other affliction. The crackhead don’t say to God, “This is how u made me”, the adulterer don’t say to God, “Lord, I know you want me to cheat on my wife”..heck no! Only the homosexual is bold enough to stand in church sashaying and snapping around as if it’s ok what they’re doing. Even the “Pastor who’s sleeping around” or the “Freaking Deacon” will admit they’re wrong if confronted. Believers, we need to love the homosexuals more instead of bashing them. Lets try getting them to understand they are dealing with issues the same way as the crackhead, the alcoholic, the womanizer or the thief…we all fall short!

Amanwithskillz: you criticised gays for declaring that God made them this way and contrasted this to how crackheads or adulterers make this declaration. This is true, but could it be that many homosexuals ARE born gay? The reason that I ask is because there are chromosonal abnormalities, such as Hermaphroditism (having both male and female sex genitalia and genes) that can cause a person to prefer one sex over the other. Now, not all gays and lesbians are intersexed, but perhaps there are some homosexuals who fall along the continuum of sexuality. There are many things that we still do not understand about homosexuality.

Now, I believe that there are many people out there who are practicing the lifestyle because they are simply hedonistic and libertine…but I don’t even consider them as a part of the mix because I think (and my opinion is subject to change) there is a psychological/behavioral component. Just a thought.

Not all Christians hate gays. I’m a Christian, but I certainly do not hate gays! In fact, most members of my family are Christian, and they don’t hate gays either. To take this another step further, my nephew is gay! Do you really think that I will condemn him and not love him because of this? I had to watch my nephew go through misery, even when he was a tiny little fellow, because he didn’t know what was “wrong” with him. From the time he was old enough to talk, he said that he wished he was a girl! So you can imagine the taunting that he had to endure when he started school. He had a feminine mannerism even back then, and the other kids quickly picked up on that. They tried to make his life miserable, but he held steady the best he could. Even some of his teachers made snide comments about him. Thankfully, my sister was strong enough and Christian enough to love him and encourage him, which is what a TRUE Christian is all about–loving the HEARTS of people.

So I ask that you not call those who “hate” others ‘Christians,’ because that is a misnomer. The very name Christian means that they are Christ-like—Christ followers, and He never hated anyone, not even those who took His life and defiled His body by nailing Him to a cross! Real Christians love and embrace others without judgment because they KNOW that they are not perfect either. They know that Jesus died for their imperfections because it was the ONLY way that they would have eternal life with God the Father. If Christians were perfect, there would not have been a need for Jesus to die. The truth of it is, not everyone who steps foot in a church is a Christian. Christianity is a WAY OF LIFE, not a title to be place upon individuals who believe in Jesus. Satan believes in Jesus, but he definitely is NOT a Christian!

I thank God that as a Christian, I myself don’t have to be perfect, though I do strive to be the best person that I can be. And often I fail miserably at it! But I keep trying.

I hope that this gives some of you a better opinion of Christians and that you yourselves will not be judgmental of others.

And How Much is this going to contribute to your putting food on YOUR table tonight or any other night.
