In my opinion I really did not agree with the police report about how the incident happened..I don’t think it happened exactly like that I think she got pissed b/c of the text and start hitting him while he was driving and he may have been hitting her in self defense and it got way out of hand. Instead of making a fake call to her assistant she should have called 911 right on the spot..or got out of the car when he pulled the car over the first time. She is not innocent either. I don’t agree with either party hitting each other..but I think she started the whole thing and was hitting and biting hime as well. Basically..they were fighting eachother. She probably thought he was not going to hit her back. I feel bad for him and her..Chris Brown is the one who is going to suffer most from this.

Hello world of people we are human and know what Chris did to Rihanna was totally wrong and we all make mistakes and i feel that God is the judge me myself i was in that postion not quite the same way but abuse is what it is and i would’nt have taken him back not me because i was in that situation in the early 90′s and i love my twins dad but when he hit me in my face on the highway in milw wi going around a curve and at 6o miles per hour and threaten to kill me and take his life as well i was hurt emotionally and phyisally as well and all i could do was pray and stay calm until we got off the highway being that i was the driver and took what he said seriously but i had to think smart at that point becasue it was a dangerous situation that also could have taken the lives of other innocent people

so the first chance i saw i ran with it to get off the highway to flag down a police car lord behol one was going down the street and i pulled over and God was with me well my twins dad jumped out of the car and ran but trust u me we had’nt been married more than a year i filed for a divorce and i won and he didnt want us to break up and we never got back togather becasue i knew that was it and my life flashed before me

and i knew that being a woman of God that i had to forgive him but i didnt have to take him back and i didnt still to this day and this is 2009

wake up women we are of great worth and we deserve better and i was inlove many times in my life and in that i just knew that my life was worth more by living without a man that had to use his hands

From the outside looking in the situation seems cut and dry. If Rihanna and Chris want to be together so be it. But I also believe in a fair standard of justice. I have know men who spent years in prison for such assults and to think that this chump is gonna get off with a wrist slap is appalling.. he should be in a cell being propositioned by grown men for sexual favors.. this may help him appreciate women an little more when he gets free.

You know Oprah was right. But one thing i can say is any one i have known that is from the West Indies Islands such as Barbadoes or St. Thomas are known to be violent and they like to play with peoples mind. First of all, that is what wrong with kids today. These parents let the TV raise their kids. In a situtation like this, parents need to sit their kids down and talk to them about relationships and love. Chris Brown and Rihanna did not birth the children of America. Their parents need to be their children’s first role model. Matter what happens in Chris and Rihanna’s personal life, if they see that in their own home a loving relationship, then they own tolerate it in life. Parents of battered teens need to be accountable for the envoirment they raised their children in and stop depending on the media to teach values. Secondly, Rihanna is grown and no matter what anybody says, it’s going to take her wanting to leave for her to leave. The whole world saw that she almost died in a fight with this man and she still wants him. let’s not forget that we all are human and we make mistakes. Chris made a terrible mistake but stripping him of his livelyhood is not going get him help with his problem. it’s not okay for anyone to hit another person women shouldn’t hit men and men shouldn’t hit women. we have to teach our kids at a young age that you don’t lay hands on anyone but you do have the right to defend yourself. Hopefully Chris can get the proper help he needs to deal with situations better and work on the stuff from his childhood that he surpress that is surfing early in his adult life. most of us surpress tragic childhood and later in our adult life it hits us hard. no one have a happy childhood cause there are hidden monsters in everyone’s life. Rihanna has to be held accountable for her part in this tragic incident also. they both need to seek councilling before pressing forward with their relationship. we as women need to set standards in relationships and make it known upfront what we are willing to put up with and what we are not going to deal with. love doesn’t hurt, who wants pain to feel loved by another that’s just da** right crazy. every relationship focus on not being cheated on, what about being batter, disrespected etc. we don’t think those things are important in a relationship. also ladies men can’t do no more to you than what you allow them to do and vice versa for some men too. sending chris to jail is not going to solve anything, rihanna always wondering when is the next beating taken place is not helping her. Everyone has their personal convictions regarding domestic violence and any other matter. Only Rihanna can deal with how she feels about Chris because ultimately we are talking about her life and happiness. Likewise, only Chris can prove how motivated he is to making sure that he never repeats this type of behavior again. Wouldn’t it be exciting if 25 years later all of America could take a second look at these two and beyond a shadow of a doubt see that Rihanna’s choice to stay with Chris after what happened had a good ending. What if 25 years later Chris kept his word, got help, and never again demonstrated any forms of abuse toward Rihanna or anyone else? That would be great if either of those examples came to reality. The facts are, I’m just speculating. We hear about more abusive relations getting worse instead of improving; and very few people are willing to take risks as large as getting beat or killed. Im not taking sides with either party. Chris was wrong and could be facing murder charges right now. Also if Rihanna is going to stay it would not be a bad idea to hire a couple of experts (Ceaser Chavez, Layla Ali, The Rock, Wesley Snipes, and The Under-taker)to teach her self-defense. Also if the Virginia sniper is available, shooting lessons would really improve her odds of getting no slack from Chris Brown. As far as Oprah is concerned, she really does not qualify as an authority on when to stay and when to get out of a relationship. Everyone knows that food and Stedman have been stuck to her for a long time.

Hi I can not judge Rihanna or Chris Brown But for any man to put his hands on you one time. What makes you think he wont do it again. My thing is this we all have made some mistakes in our lives as stated in previous posts nobody is perfect except for God and his son. No one can pass judgement on anyone, but we do. I realize this is a unfortunate incident that has happened, but would you care if it was Chris Brown and just a girlfriend, but because they both are celebrities we want to pass our advice. We know that James Brown beat his wife, but we still loved him and packed the funeral when he died(an abuser)we love R Kelly and pack arenas when he comes because we love his music, but was classified as a child molester(an abuser), we like Eniemn and jam and rap when we hear his music come on, even though he beat his wife and talked about his mother(an abuser), lionel ritchie who we like and jam all night when we hear his music, but also beat his wife(an abuser)and the list goes on and on. I agree with the post about Oprah should be the last one to talk. I was a victim of abuse from my now husband, who has not hit me since that night 8 years ago, so yes people can change if they want to. Chris and Rhin have some issues, but that’s just it, its their issues and no one else’s. We have to remember that celebrities are people too and they put there pants on just like the rest of us and they do have problems, but critizing someone and judging them is wrong. I do agree that they should get some counseling because it is obvious that both of them have some problems that need addressing, but its up to them and not us.

Okay, a lot of people posting here seem to have a problem with Oprah. What you seem to be overlooking is that SOMEone needs to try and talk some sense into this young woman’s head (not that she’s going to watch the show, I’m sure) before one of them ends up dead.

I agree that it is a personal issue between the two of them, but what makes it different is that they are in the public eye and a lot of young people look up to them. Young men will see him get away with beating on his girl and think it’s okay. The young women will think they did something to deserve it and the cycle will just keep being perpetuated.

Someone mentioned James Brown, R. Kelly and Eminem. I prayed and I prayed that R. Kelly would be convicted. He is not allowed in my home in any way shape or form. Not on the TV, not on the radio, no CD’s, none of that. The same goes for Eminem. James Brown was never really my thing, but if I remember correctly, he did serve time in jail.

Having said that, I’m GLAD Oprah is going to do a show on this topic because it’s happening too often and not just in the Black community. If this show helps just one young woman get out of an abusive relationship, I say more power to her (Oprah, that is).

Both of these children are victims of racial injustice and racial disenharminization at the cost of the media circus. This is one of the oldest hype and performed
superficial plays of the modern screenplay, acted out and played out by the heroine and the hero. We can look back at history and discover that black men and black women have always had a story that raked in profits for others. Slavery both in and out of hollywood and Mr Brown and Rihanna are just another token of dehumanization. It is okay for minorities to be beaten and abused by the system and many men and women stripped of their dignity , womanhood and sometimes their manhood, while everyone with financial stability sit by idless and say or do nothing to right the wrongs that are perpetuated upon our little boys and girls. Number one Chris and Rihanna would be no household name if these same people didnot portray them as icons or role models. They did not ask to be put in the public eyes or to be portrayed in such a demening manner. They like all of us was trying to survive and make a honest living. We all know that the music industry has taken the lives of just about every celebrity to the next level and has and always will be filled with corruption and if you choose not to play by the rules you either end up dead or on the front page. and this is just another scam to take our eyes off the real syndicated crooks who are really profiting off these innocent children. We need to act ” under the “Best Interst
of the Children” act which is often used within the judicial system. Whose interest are we
acting on behalf of. People are getting led into a frenzy
over an issue that has been around since slavery. We as a people no longer have to get riled up over issues to which all minorities have been the victim of and still in this day we are still “guilty” until proven “Innocence”. with money or no money. No matter how high you attempt to excel there is always something or someone trying to discredit you and separate us. Especially among minorities. the judicial system has never been a true or dedicated friend to the black women or the black men. this system is guilty of separating families; separating wives from their husbands; children from their mothers and fathers and nations from nations simply by fabricating stories to get monetary benefits. At the end of this controversy who will be the victor. A year from now will they even matter especially if both lose their pop artist plateau. Some other couple will take their place and so on and on. Just to mention as an example Whitney and Bobby, the Clintons just to name a few. Where are they at today and who cares and no
one won; the only people who won was those who wrote the story from their own outlook.
We have bigger and better fish to go after like the “Wall street ” crooks who forced this nation into a widespread recession which cause many to lose their home; healthcare; and their jobs. If we really want to get riled up let’s go after them with the sword of justice because these folks are guilty of Treason against the people who put them in office to fight and protect our security in America. I say Let Chris and Rihanna work their own problems out cause the judicial system will strip both of these children including yours and mines of any dignity they still have and in the Jails no one is listening to the cries of innonect men being molested and stripped of their manhood.

yourself where would I be today if I did not play by Hollywood Rules. Would you really be on top and are you willing to stay on top by

Opinions are like you know whats, and everyone has one about Chris Brown and “Robin”. We are condemning this young man instead of helping him. I am in no way trying to uphold him and say what he has done is right. He is wrong, I have a mother and a sister, that I would do God knows what, if a guy battered one of them. Or better yet one of my nieces. But the truth is, Oprah, Gayle, Tyler, or the white man are not Judges and certainly not God. If someone hits you and I am speaking in general because there are same sex relationships and they are just as violitale as regular relationships; please understand that this wasn’t an one incident with Chris Brown. She focuses alot of attention on how to live the best life with much focus on relationships, self love, body image, breaking the chains of abuse and so forth. Teen violence has also been discussed on the show. Nevertheless…..it is rare that a teen couple has ended up in the media with such a situation. It has brought much attention to the issue. Yes. Society tends to pay more attention to issues when a celeb or the wealthy is going through it…..but don’t blame Oprah….blame our star struck, material obsessed society. I say….hey…if it takes a celeb to bring attention to an overlooked issue…. Whatever it takes! And we all know that in the “black community”, we tend to point the finger at everyone else for a young black man’s behavior other the the man/boy himself. LETS ALL EXAMINE OURSELVES (MEN AND WOMEN). stop pointing fingers and throwing accusations, most of the time both parties are to be blamed. whether the woman who accepts the abuse has a low self esteem and thinks that it is part of her love life or she deep down inside knows that she has caused the related incidents and will accept the outcome. the men on the other hand thinks that it is a macho thing to slap around his woman or checking his background, thats the life he saw living as a child with his mom and dad. is Counseling is only remedy for these persons? But then again who can counsel, on so many occasions, professional counsellors need to be counseled themselves, they too have stuff in their closets. Should’nt we but turn to our God (whoever we conceive him to be) for help, while at the same time look deep into ourselves to find out who we truly are? Question ourselves and give the true answers (which would sometimes scare us) then repair all damages within us before laying blame. I have gone through this exercise on many occasions and believe me it worked. I am now a better person than i was before. I have always had the slogan ‘NO ABUSE’ in my marital life, NEVER CONDONE IT, but there were other problems that i faced, and you know what, i was sometimes to be blamed. oh yes! i am bold enough to say so and did repair the damage within me.
Lets all keep love, patience, understanding, committment, trust and happiness in our love life.

Although domestic violence is not the thing to get involved with. It is reality to most especially in the black community although I believe it is common in all races the only difference is white women are known to cover there domestic episodes up. When it comes to this couple they are yet young and able to make changes that are needed to effect there careers and there relationship. If the couple feels that changes are needed then they will or can change. If they feel that changes don’t need to be made it won’t be made. With all of this talk, and with the low blows from others, this may only bring them closer, seeing that they love one another, and can only seek one another for comfort. Everyone else seems to just talk about them and put there business in the streets for the fame. This is a very painful time for the both of them because skeletons have come out of the closet, and people are gaining fame by exposing what went wrong. The two people that can explain best is Chris and Rihanna. The only people that needs to understand why it happend is the couple because they are the ones who must decide on what’s next.

Everything that has been said about a man if he hits you once then he’ll do it again is absolutely true im a victim from a domestic violence i was 34 yrs old at the time of my accident i was married to a man for 2years brfore i was shot four times and which almost caused me and my kids life and im a living testimoy to live tell each and everyone that ifyou start seeing signs leave or get out dont stay in because it will only get worse and worse i seen signs but i was indenial in love tried to make it work as i woke up one day i told myself its time to get out for the sake of my family because i couldnt see another day of my life living in stress and with a man that i could no longer see him raging out in front of my kids and losing his temper and just dealing with the blackeyes/punch in te head and seeing what i was putting my kids through i knew i had to get out of this marriage.As i pursued to leave him i was stalked harrassed i did all i could do faras took out a 50-B
against him which in my eye i didnt protect me nor my family.I was home one night didnt think nuthing of it just a normal night until my oldest daughter started screaming and saying our house was on fire and i panic trying to get my kids out safely ntil he blocked us from getting out but some how my oldest son manage to ge out safely but my other three siblings were still in the house with me as he started shooting me four times and that last shot i knew i was taking my last breath but i heard gods voice and an angel come over me and my next to the oldest daughter screaming momma dont die please i was bleeding all over and we manage to run for help and my neighbors called 911 and the last i know i as air lifted to the hospital were i was in intensive care underwent surgery had a stroke in my left leg and had to undergo therpy to learn how to use my hands and learn to walk with my left again,but from this day forward i still live with a bullet in my neck which their unable to remove due to it being to close to my spine and it hurts to know its there but its sign of god telling me it wasnt my time to go yet.My message goes out to all women i have a testimony and i pray that my story can reach out and touch one or many lives today and save somebodys child or love one this is reality and we need to come together as woman and fight back and push the issue more and more on domestic violence due to t many lives are taken and its too late..thanks for being able to share my story to people or someones who’s experiencing a situation like i did or going through it…So my comment to Rihanna take advice from your friends family that are telling you this isnt love love dont hit it only gets worse as i said before your a beautiful young lady have alot going for yourself my advice for you is to get out and stay out because this is gods way of showing you what you are facing by dealing with a man that has to beat on you and i know it hurts its going to hurt for awhile and it gets better as long as you are around positive people and have alot of love and support like i did.Today Im 39 years old im doing bettter but i still my good days and bad days because i will neer forget this tragic in my life the scars are for life and cried somedays and ask god why me a beautuiful lady who’s just trying live life and family oriented with a man whom i thought loved me but yet tried to take my life,but im stronger today then i was 6 years ago without my family and friends and my special friend in my life i never would have made it….from my heart to yours …Be safe/God Bless

when I saw the news about Rihanna on the Dutch television I was kind of surprised and shocked. I am also a victim of domestic violence, German and 52 years. I had a toxic relationship with a Tamil Tiger from Sri Lanka for 2 years which ended in the Christmas Night. The latest news. He threatened to kill my 26 year old only daughter, she is a German-American. He stole her number out of my mobile when I forgot it at his apt. last year. This is just too much to bear! I filed a police-report and my neighbours were also involved. He needs therapy, no doubt and I am now in therapy and feeling better as far as my healing. It’s just that I still suffer from night-mares since I left him and have flash-backs. And thanks God! My daughter is not afraid of him to tell him off. I guess her American military upbringing from her Vietnam War veteran and US Air Force Father helped somehow.
So my message to everybody is: get help and come out of isolation. This is what kept me a prisoner of toxic love.

I totally disagree with everyone. People deserve a second chance. What he did was totally wrong! However, I think that everyone should have a chance to change. I hope and pray that he gets the help that he needs, and she does too. Some of the best marriages have been through some type of physical violence, and had counseling. My father hit my mother twice, and they received couseling and made an effort to change. It takes two in a realtionship, and if both of them are willing to work on it, and forgive each other….it can work. If he is sincere, and she loves him she should work it out. Now don’t be a dummy and put up with that s?!* if it happens again. Only Rihanna knows. Most men who are victims of childhood abuse, suffer emotionally and end up the abuser. So blessings to her and him….

Oprah has never really been a balanced presenter of issues when it comes to men vs women. Note how there are so few men ever in her audience or listening to her. For example, in Oprah’s own back yard, the Chicago Octo-mom, Rosemary Smith, arrested for slamming down her 3mo old baby girl in January has not warranted a single mention by Oprah even though it was in the papers and on the news. So, by Oprah’s logic, if Ms. Smith has done this once, she will do it again, so Ms. Smith should remain locked up. Frankly, if Oprah would like to make any headway on domestic violence issues, she really needs to be less critical of the men and bit more real about the women.
