Ohhhhhh HOLLYWOOD! I think you know! Mo’Nique is a GOOD BET but being up against Meryl Streep….especially for her role as Julia Childs is going to be tough. I wish her much luck as I could feel how powerful her performance was.

Hmmmm, yes let me rain on this one as well….

Denzel got it for training day but not John Q or Philadelphia
Halle got it for monsters ball but not Swordfish or losing Isaih
Jaime got it for Ray but not for Collateral
Mo’nique is up for it for precious (she hasnt done anything else worth mentioning)

Now, I understand these movies supposedly were ones of overall triumph,(all but training day), for the most part…BUT does anyone else notice that ALL of them show black people in a negative light? I’m sorry but I dont think all ‘praise’ is neccessarily the best praise. To me, personally what Hollywhite is saying basically is that black people act the BEST when they are acting a fool. When are black people going to get tired of being grateful for being handed a bone…

Yes, I agree. They seem to win when they’re shown in a negative light. I think Denzel deserved it for Malcolm X, and John Q…I totally disagree about Halle Berry lol, she’s pretty but I’ve never been moved by her performances, Monster’s Ball was not all that! White ppl love Ray Charles and Jamie looked like him and emulated him very well lol, so I feel that’s why he won. I would be surprised(but glad nonetheless) if Mo’Nique won. She would be the reason I watch any of it.

Denzel definitely should have won for “Man on Fire.”

And this woman in the photo is just soo fat and ugly its nauseating. I know alot of people like her… but for crying out loud, she needs to lay off the calories. No one should be that fat.

“Hollywhite is saying basically is that black people act the BEST when they are acting a fool. When are black people going to get tired of being grateful for being handed a bone…”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Hollywhite angered me by failing to give Morgan Freeman an award for Stand by me. Instead they reward him for chauffeuring around a miserable old white woman in Driving Miss Daisy. My school was mostly white and alot of those inbreds joked to me about that movie. What black America needs to do is seriously wake up and stop expecting anything from Hollycracker. Look at all the money the entertainers, athletes, comedians are pulling in. Why can’t we start our own Hollywood? Hell someone is starting a white NBA basketball league, why can’t we do the same for films? I’ll never watch the film Precious, because I know so many woman wrapped up in that ghetto con-function.

I agree with most of ya’ll. I got jumped on by damn near everybody on the “Monique wins Golden Globe” forum when I said we only win for negative roles. But hey, obviously, we don’t care as long as we win.

Man, the black standard has been lowered to unbelievable levels. Our forefathers would cringe to see how we live now.
