Samuel Jackson Brings Two New Shows To CBS

Actor Samuel L. Jackson’s UppiTV – a television production arm of his company Uppity Films, has set up two series projects at CBS.

Both as-yet-untitled shows, described by the Hollywood Reporter as a comedy and a medical drama, are produced by CBS TV Studios, which has extended its deal with UppiTV for another year.

The comedy pilot, from writer Bob Kushell, is about the wife of a U.S. congressman who inherits her husband’s seat when he dies unexpectedly in the middle of his term.

Writer Andrea Newman’s medical drama centers on an emergency room doctor who uses unconventional methods to treat his patients.

Jackson will reportedly executive produce the projects alongside their respective writers.

As previously reported, Jackson’s TV producing sprouted last year when he signed a first-look deal with CBS Studios. His only previous stint as TV producer is with Spike TV’s animated series “Afro Samurai.”

    Just about every movie that is produced with him in it is normally a good movie. His acting alone makes the movie that much more interesting.

    The comedy sounds like it might work, but damn, doesn’t the medical drama sound like “House?” I have never watched the show myself, but based on the promo’s, that appears to be the theme…I don’t mind you being uppity, but damn, can you at least be creative?
