Went to see Transformers 2 today..sat and watch was entertained somewhat until those twin bot things came up on screen.At first couldn’t put my mind on to what’s making me uncomfortable about seeing them,Then it clicked,(negative)stereo types,here’s what I saw (1) The twin bots (NIG**R)BOTS says when ask a question of importance to the movie(WE DON’T KNOW HOW TO READ WE DON’T READ THAT MUCH.(2)THEIR CONSTANT FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER FOR NO REASON (3) THE CONSTANT SHUCK AND JIVE (4)THEIR LOOK BUCK TEETH WITH GOLD. i’ve seen the movie twice so far adn i think it is a great movie. personally i am into comic book type movies and movies based on childhood cartoons and whatnot. and there are 2 points i want to make about this particular case. 1st of all in the original transformers mudflap hasa french accent and is more intelligent than the one in the movie. and 2nd, in the movie mudflap and skids both speak spanish at different points whne they are fighting each other. so for someone to automatically assume that 2 characters that cant read, and generally sound ghetto as hell is black and label that as racist is being more racist. so before we start throwing the racist card around lets do some research… critics

I’ve not seen the movie and didn’t particularly want to; it was torture sitting through the 1st one since I just don’t like this type of movie. My son does want to see it and so as not to taint the experience for him I won’t even mention this “issue”. It is usually adults that get bent out of shape over something. It’s seen as a problem because it rings true THEN do something to change the image of the real people instead of blowing hot air over a kids’ movie that is filled with computer generated characters.

Perhaps if parents spent as much time ensuring that their children actually went to school and learned something instead of focusing on how good they look going to school we wouldn’t have yet another generation that can barely add 2+2 or speak without sounding like a rapper. If more parents actually focused on having a career instead of a job or worse yet a welfare check then we wouldn’t have yet another generation that aspires to do nothing because they think there’s no opportunties to succeed. If inner city communities built libraries instead of corner stores then the young would actually read and would consume less junk food. People are quick to insist that a black that gets an education is trying to act white instead of trying to pattern their own lives after that person. If people stopped watching music videos filled with scantily clad women and men who don’t know how to pull their pants up or keep their “stuff” in their pants and watched more doc**entaries we wouldn’t have yet another generation that doesn’t know much beyond their own hood. There are so many positive examples of what Blacks could be and can achieve yet most claim that there are no role models because no one wants to go learn about them.

One problem is that we feed the stereotypes and then get mad if someone notices it. We actually try to justify using “NIGGA” then get mad if other races use it. I’m not going to get mad over what’s in this movie as much as I am mad at how many of us are in jail.

This is very unfortunate that we sometimes make things a problem, that really is not a problem. I saw the movies with my kids, we thought it was great. If we are so insulted by the animated robots characters maybe we should be more focused on our real life people to change the “swag” image. We cannot get mad everytime something is done or said pertaining to our race. We created the image, we laugh at it and support it. Insteads of complaining about it do something. Complaining about the movie is making the producer richer because now, everyone is going to go see it because of the “racist”opinion.

Why does this bothers people? The movie was very entertaining. Anybody who is offended by this movie is being ridicules. There was nothing racist about this movie. They added a little comedy, but it didn’t offend me at all as a black person. I think people are feeding into to this too much. This is nothing to act all crazy over. The man is a good director, and he put some good actors in the film with diffrent flavas and who could add a little comedy and diffrent style to it. This needs to be dropped.

For those people who choose to ignore what’s going on around you, I pray for you to open your eyes. I watched the movie yesterday and I immediately noticed how the director had them two twin autobots talking/acting like some African-Americans. The slang and supposedly gold tooth hanging was not funny to me. Some people live in denial and don’t want to believe that some people view African-Americans this way but in the real world, they do. Is it a shame that they do, yes but the only thing that one can do to change this stereotype is to act like you have some sense in public and educate your fellow African-Americans who you know that cause shame to the race.

For those of you who didn’t see the 1st Transformers movie nor grew up watching transformers the cartoon tv series….to make the story short, transformers are robots that landed on earth and to communicate with us and others, they transformed into things they see and learned our language. In other words it’s a movie made for kids, fans and people who don’t just analyze every darn thing. Picture this, if a “robot” came to the so called “hood” how do you think they’d react. It’s not out fault they portray us in such a way in movies. This is the only life many of the African-Americans know. The movie was great just as the last one was. If they make another one I will stand in line and pay my money to see that one, too. If you don’t want to watch it… then don’t. It is your choice. What the hell is so racist about roadblock? It isn’t like he was running the base shoe shine stand on GI Joe. he was a regular character. And, unlike a lot of cartoons these days. I was reading a few comments here. The one who made the comment that both robots were voiced by a white actor, you really need to read the news befor you post a comment. One of the autobot voices is from a black actor. This also goes to show how many people are reading the news, and those who don’t know what they are talking about.

When you use words like racist and racism so freely then it really takes away from the meaning.
Yes it looked like a sad and corny attempt at comic relief by using sterotypes, but so were the old Irish plane and the little cursing bot that the girl caught. I may be wrong, but I doubt there was any malicious intent.

The movie is fun and it’s action and no, it is not long on plot. If you want plot, see “My Sister’s Keeper.” This however, is a typical ‘blow things up in a loud manner and have a helluva good time doing it’ movie…the kinda thing ppl go see during the summer.

Those of us who work with people who come in and try to take over but don’t have a dayum clue about grits will particularly love a certain part of this movie.

The twins were comic relief and I enjoyed them too…. This movie is awesome and for those of you who weren’t kids or were born after transformers came out you would not understand…. We don’t care about what you want the story to be… We care about what the story is within the war… If you want a Politically Correct Transformers then go make one… Leave this one alone…

Michael Bey- the film’s Director did not see anything wrong with the characters- even when told that people saw them as insensitive streotypes. He didn’t even pause to contemplate it. That’s the problem! When Black people accept the images, other people see them as acceptable ways to portray us. If the Wayans, or Tyler Perry can do it- it’s okay for Michael Bey to do it too.
