We are one day away from the opening of the 2010-2011 NFL season, and we at Newsone wanted to provide you with our predictions for this upcoming year.

Here are our division by division standings, playoff results, and Super Bowl predictions.

AFC East:

New England Patriots 12-4

New York Jets 9 – 7

Miami Dolphins 8-8

Buffalo Bills 4-12

Analysis: While many believe the Jets staunch defense and ball control offense will get them to the Super Bowl, I believe they aren’t even the best team in their division. I’ve always been a believer that good offense conquers good defense, and expect the Jets to stumble out of the gate due to offensive issues which will allow the Patriots to build a comfortable lead to win the division.

AFC North:

Baltimore Ravens 12-4

Pittsburgh Steelers 10-6

Cincinnati Bengals 8-8

Cleveland Browns 2-14

Analysis: The best division in football will come down to the wire. The return of Ben Roethlisberger will land the Steelers a playoff spot, while the Ravens will dethrone the Bengals as division champions.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts 11-5

Houston Texas 10-6

Jacksonville Jaguars 7-9

Tennessee Titans 6-10

Analysis: While the Houston Texans improved on defense and have a great offense, I don’t see it being enough to dethrone the consistent Colts. I feel one of the big surprises will be the re-emergence of Jacksonville and how they’ll pass the Titans. The Titans will struggle as teams will load the box against them.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers 9-7

Kansas City Chiefs 7-9

Denver Broncos 6-10

Oakland Raiders 5-11

Analysis: The worst division in football will be won by the team that almost wins it every year – the San Diego Chargers. While they’re a much depleted team, they will have enough to survive this weak division. I expect the Chiefs to rebound with RB Jamaal Charles and that quick defense they have. The Broncos and Raiders, two heated rivals, will battle it out for third place.

Playoff teams:

Division: San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots

Wildcard: Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans

Final Four: Indianapolis, New England, Baltimore, Pittsburgh

Conference Title: Baltimore vs Indianapolis

Super Bowl: Baltimore

——————————————-

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys 9-7

New York Giants 8-8

Washington Redskins 7-9

Philadelphia Eagles 5-11

Analysis: I expect all these teams to battle each other to series splits throughout the season (maybe except for the Eagles). The NFC East doesn’t have one dominant team, though many tend to believe it’s Dallas. While Dallas will win this division, don’t expect them to run away with it. The Giants and Skins will be on their tail all season long.

NFC North

Green Bay Packers 11-5

Minnesota Vikings 8-8

Detroit Lions 6-10

Chicago Bears 3-13

Analysis: This is quite possibly, the weakest division in football. I expect the Packers to run away with this one. The loss of Sidney Rice on offense for the Vikings will severely hamper their chances. Everything went perfect for them and Favre last season. Don’t expect that to happen again. As for the Lions and Bears, the former will continue to improve under 2nd year QB Stafford. The Bears? Lovie Smith could kiss his job goodbye.

NFC South

New Orleans Saints 12-4

Atlanta Falcons 10-6

Carolina Panthers 8-8

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-13

Analysis: The Saints will win this division again, but Matt Ryan and the Falcons will make it a race. But, the real surprise in this division will come out of the Carolina’s. With Matt Moore and DeAngelo and Stewart, expect the Panthers to be very competitive this upcoming season.

NFC West:

San Francisco 49ers 10-6

Seattle Seahawks 6-10

St. Louis Rams 5-11

Arizona Cardinals 3-13

Analysis: The 49ers are stellar on defense and Alex Smith will come into his own this season. It won’t even be a close race. The Rams will improve, while the Seahawks will meet expectations. The Cardinals will show how much they’ve missed Kurt Warner.

Playoff Teams:

Division – Saints, Cowboys, 49ers, Packers

Wild Card - Falcons, Giants

Final Four - 49ers, Packers, Saints, Falcons

Conference Championship – Packers Saints

Super Bowl – Packers

Super Bowl Matchup

Packers vs Ravens with the Ravens pulling out the victory 24-17

hmmm my predictions? Someone’s going to get shot/ or shoot himself, someone’s going to get some white girl knocked up and/or marry one- actually, someone new is going to be with Kim K of course he will be from whatever team is winning, at that moment… Brett Favre will return to just retire and re-(x 200) return.. and I think that’s about it. Pretty safe bets, if you ask me.

3-13 for my Bears? I’m going to call you forest because you must be stupid or something. The Bears at least will finish 8-8 or 9-7. Did you at least look at their schedule before you made that stupid prediction? Weakest division in football? The packers and the Vikings made it to the playoffs last years. Guess what? Two NFC North teams are going to the playoffs again and one of them will be the Bears. (although they may not win the division)

I’m glad that these are your predictions because the one you gave for Jacksonville was just wrong, wrong, wrong. While I do believe that we will come out the box and stun a lot of people this season, giving us a prediction of 7-9 was dead wrong. Just because we’re not “america’s team” like some of the older franchises, please don’t discount us.

A lot of the predictions sound about right. Redskins will be better than 7-9.
