SOURCE: Arenas Threatened To Blow Up Teammate’s Car

Here are the details from the Gilbert Arenas gun incident according to the Washington Post.

The dispute between Arenas and Crittenton began on the team plane during a popular card game between players called “Boo-ray.” Crittenton lost roughly $1,100 to JaVale McGee, a Wizards center, in the game, according to a player who watched the game and who also spoke on condition of anonymity. Crittenton, already angry over a dispute over the game’s rules, became irate when Arenas began needling him.

Their barbs escalated to a point where Arenas, smiling, said he would blow up Crittenton’s car, according to two players on the flight, who requested anonymity. Crittenton replied that he would shoot Arenas in his surgically repaired knee.

Walking into the locker room two days after the dispute on the team plane, according to two witnesses, Arenas laid out the guns in Crittenton’s locker. Two other teammates eventually sauntered in and, while Arenas was writing the note in front of Crittenton’s cubicle, in walked Crittenton, according to their account.

Asking Arenas what he was doing, Arenas replied, “If you want to shoot me, I’d just thought I’d make it easy for you.” As other teammates laughed, Crittenton crumpled up the paper, tossed one of Arenas’s guns across the room, where it bounced in front of a team trainer, and said he didn’t need any of Arenas’s firearms because he had his own, according to the witness accounts.

Neither witness said the gun was ever pointed at Arenas, but both said Crittenton began singing as he held the gun.

Arenas began laughing, the witnesses said, telling Crittenton, “Look at that little shiny gun,” as two other players slowly retreated to the training room.

Crittenton then drew his weapon, loaded it and chambered a round, the witnesses said.

    It does not seem harmless to me. There is nothing harmless about playing with guns. These fools are getting millions (the other guy is still getting good money by our standards), and they are pulling gun out over a few thousand? It is a very rare thing for anyone to come into millions or even $100,000, but for these fools to blow like this is crazy. The dumbest ones always win the lottery or get money. Maybe it’s by design.

    Yeah, may seem trivial, but the NBA, the Wizards and the police are not taking it lightly. What pisses me off is the media here making like Arenas is a thuglife, bada**, who is typical of pro athletes and always had their way. People need to read his bio, abot the mother who was a crack head and dragged him areound until the age of ten, into those houses, into shelters, and cardboard boxes. At ten, she abandoned him in a crack house and left him to fend for himeslf, without a “Blind Side” type family to help him through. Arenas has said he never felt like he was somebody until he made the NBA and then the jackpot with the Wizards. What he did is stupid, but not as bad as what soooo many other athletes have done, including firing off 5 rounds infront of a crowded nightclub, with no idea where the bullets were going. Unforetunately, the local sports pundits and reporters have him dead, buried and traded away, locked up for many years in between. Oh, yeah, the player with the gun at the nightclub, got a felony conviction for an unregistered weapon (NOT for shooting it….), probation and community service, and… wait fgor it… from David Stern: 5 game suspension. And Arenas is already indefinitely suspended, and the guns were empty. I wish him well. The odds are on his side, only around 40% of these type cases are prosecuted in DC. But I bet he’s played his last game as a Wizard, who are now attempting to be oh so politically correct, by removing any mention of Arenas anywhere in the city.

    This whole situation is absurd, Arenas would know the first thing about
    making or identifying an explosive device, ole boy was selling wolf
    tickets and got caught up. There have been members of the NBA who
    have done far worse, Medical, tanking games, etc. what rankles me
    is the Wizards are gonna try an capitalized on a probable Morals
    clause in his contract, just to get out of paying him, IT WONT WORK
    but they’re going to try anyway,with the full support of Stern, so
    what get ready to lose again David (the mouse hearted) any competent
    Attorney will best his machine,. Wish arenas luck and what he needs
    is Therapy, do a little comm service, and a new direction in his life
    when he resumes playing hope he goes to a smaller market, perhaps
    Oklahoma, or Denver, can you imagine him playing with the Mavericks?

    Whether the gun was loaded or not and whether he smiled when he made the threats or not (yes , as we all do sometimes) , the fact still remains that he BOUGHT A GUN INTO THE WORKPLACE and should be punished for it. Black , white or whatever , it makes no difference.

    I guess the ones that are defending this fucry , dont mind some AH sneaking a gun into a club….as long as they dont throw it against the wall? I mean WTF?

    I dont know where yall are from but in D.C. we have lost thousands of homies , friends, cousins, sons, daughters, co-workers etc etc etc etc etc because of guns and dumb-axxes playing with them or carrying them just to carry them. Because , aint no reason to carry a gun unless you out to body somebody and if you aint a killer and carrying it just for sport YOU ARE A PUNK.

    Arenas aint never been up 640, Clay Terrace, Simple City, Trinidad or any hood where he would need a gun so what would he carry it to the locker room for? He aint never been up in the carry-out at 2am with a gang of youngins in Black coats and masks walking in and out. Those neighbourhoods would really test him but I bet he wouldnt pull out over there , now would he?
