Working in law enforcemt for years has allowed me to see both sides of the story. I have to agree with another comment that young women should be held accountable. I have seen too many instances where after consensual sex the young man was no longer interested and then she cried “RAPE” because she was no longer a necessity. I have also seen situations where the parents knowingly allow their teen daughters to “date”, conversate and allow men more than two years older than them to come into their homes to be with their daughters then want to file a charge after he has been with her and moved on to someone else. But it all boils down to the the law. Sex with someone under the age of 18 when you are mmore than two years her Senior is punishable by law. Do theyse young girls lie? Hell yes. More 14-16 yr olds look like 20 somethings than ever. Men be more responsible especially when you have a future ahead of you, and unless you are locked up… You have a bright future to come.

I have read a few comments on this topic and many are right on, and some of you miss the point completely, the issue here is quite simple, it’s “Having Sex with a Minor”. The Laws of the USA are quite clear on this issue. If you are an adult male or female having sex with a minor, you are breaking the law and will be persecuted. The age of consent for sexual intercourse is different from state to state and in the state of NY it is 17. Whether or not the sex was consensual or not is an entirely different matter. The facts are what they are or better yet as we the public knows them to be up to this point. Those facts are “He is an adult and she is a minor” laws were broken he got caught and will be prosecuted. Those are the facts. On the other hand there are mitigating circ**stances that may have played a role in his decision to have sex with this underage girl however the facts remain the same.
Some of the comments I have read, puts the blame on man, some on the “Underage girl” and a few on the mother. Some have gone so far as calling the “underage girl” all kinds of names, for various reasons. She lied, she knew what she was doing, women mature a quicker rate then man…blah, blah, blah….and the lists goes on and on. Though some of those reasons / excuse may be true as an Adult male athlete with a future ahead of him he should have used better judgment in who he had sex with, if for any number of reasons but one “He has the Most to LOOSE”. Because of these allegations, and that all they are at this point….allegations until there is a trial that is… His professional football career is in serious jeopardy. I am not going to get into who knew what or who lied to whom, who should have done what, and who had an agenda with $$$ signs as the end game all that is irrelevant.
The reason we have an age requirements to many thing in this country is to make a distinction between a Minor and Adulthood. As a minor it’s normal to act up, rebel and make irrational decision for various reasons a minor may think of with little or no consequences depending on the severity of the infraction. And as a society we say they are just kids, we need to teach and educate our children more so they can make sound decision when they become an Adult. This does not mean however that some minor does not know any better. There are many precocious children in this country that does know better and are smart enough to do things and get away with it.
However as an Adult we don’t have such luxurious and the onus is on us. This young man should have known better, with all that have been happening in this country over the years there have been many examples to be cited that he should have been concern about. The NFL have put up with a lot of the nonsense these athletes have been doing are trying to clean up their act. R. Kelly the poster child for having SEX with a minor is still having legal issues that have not been resolved since 2002; the case is still ongoing even though the young girl at the time is NOT cooperating in the investigation. I know I wrote a lot only to say that this young man has only HIMSELF to BLAME for his current situation, with the future he had in front of him, he should have used better judgment to get his freak on…:)

The consentual age should be lowered to 14. Its unfair that young men are being charged with that and now are registed as a sex offender. To me, rape should be considered if the child is too young to know (Under 13) what’s going on or if there’s proof that it was forced against their will. I find it nothing short of amazing that anyone up here can blame the mother of the child for this. I don’t give a damn how phat a young girl is, you can still tell that’s a girl. I admit, some of them come out the house wearing stuff that makes you look twice driving past, but once you see the face, you know damned well that’s a child and you back off. Period! No exceptions. And like the one poster said, she gotta sneak out the house! Even if she lied, she obviously wasn’t grown. Come on people! We have to stop making excuses for celebrities. The girls are hot in the ass because we, as a culture, have let our music and videos and means of expression get all the way out of control, so now, that is how our young sisters are growing up thinking they should look and act. That cat is way out of the bag and may never go back in. But regardless of the social circ**stances a grown man sneaking someone’s child–15,16,17 whatever, is criminal.

at 18 I still haf a curfew I was not grown in my mother’s house. So it’s possible she lied about her age. But what I don’t get is why would a grown man want a 18 yr old girl she’s still a baby too. If my 18 yr old daughter comes in the house with a grown man I don’t care how much money he’s making he better get ready for a serious beat down. Need to deal with women your age there’s alot of beautiful grown women out here find one and leave the lil girls along.
