The latest drama installment has struck the NBA and this one does not include controversial fixtures likes Shaquille O’Neal, Ron Artest, Gilbert Arenas or Delonte West to name of a few of the “bad boys” in the league. This cyber episode includes Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics and Charlie Villanueva from the Detroit Pistons.

We all know about Shaq’s infidelity problems, Artest’s anger management issues, Arenas’ Wild Wild West tendencies, but yet another Celtic making headlines out of the hardwood? You can’t be serious!

Only a few days ago, on Friday to be exact, we heard about Delonte West stir things up with teammate Von Wafer during practice. Now we are reading tweet reports from Charlie Villanueva’s page alleging that Kevin Garnett called him a “cancer patient”.

One of Villanueva’s tweets says: “KG called me a cancer patient, I’m pissed because, u know how many people died from cancer, and he’s tossing it like it’s a joke.”

It is worth noting that Villanueva suffers from alopecia universalis, a medical condition that results in hair loss. Due to Villanueva’s bald appearance, Garnett took advantage to sneer him as if it was due to chemotherapy, which also has the same effects.

Villanueva goes on to say: “KG talks alot of crap, he’s prob never been in a fight, I would love to get in a ring with him, I will expose him,” another tweet on the Villanueva account reads.

Should this be true, the league and the Celtic’s front office should reprimand this type of behavior, as I am sure that both entities have many followers who suffer from both diseases. More so, Kevin Garnett should be aware that as perennial all-star in the best basketball league in the world he is a role model to kids all over the world.

Conversely, Villanueva is not a professional boxer so he should not be promoting fighting to repair the situation; although, if both were entering a ring it would be a very fair match looking at it from a physical standpoint. Villanueva is listed at 6’11, 232 lbs while Garnett stands at 6’11, 253 lbs.

All this makes one wonder if Doc Rivers has a handle of his team, who despite winning their season opener against a very talented Heat’s team is bringing a lot of negative publicity in the last few days.
