My brother works in the medical field and LO & BEHOLD their is a very small percentage of swine flu cases and very few result in fatalities. However, the media has sensationalized it to the degree that it is a “plague” if we didn’t know any better. It pays to do your research and EDUCATE yourself before jumpin’ on the bandwagon and getting a H1N1 flu shot. @Shamel. I personally didn’t vote for anyone. Never have, never will. Politricksters have NEVER solved root level problems only paid lip service to them. Even those who are under the false impression that Bill Clinton was such a great President, if you dig a little deeper, you will see, that under his admin. the means were put in motion that lead to this economic collapse. Larry Summers (current economic advisor to Obama) was the treasury secy who pretty much put his stamp of approval on the Graham-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999, which in effect repealed the Glass-Stegall act. I won’t get into what that was here, but suffice it to say, that act alone, allowed the Goldman Sachs, and AIG’s of the world to get filthy rich through corrupt accounting practices. Obama is not changing that, only enhancing it! Thats just one of many reasons why I’m not an Obamaite or a voter!

WOW, it is interesting to see the all of the negativity that is being said here. All the President is saying is H1N1 is spreading faster than expected and the government is taking measures to combat the outbreak. Mind you I don’t know the actual numbers of people infected, but I DO know of atleast 10 people who either have or have had CONFIRMED H1N1…and the flu season isn’t over. Usually I only know of 2 or 3 people who get one of the other strains each year. I’m just saying… For everyone who is against Obama…WHAT THE HELL ELSE ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THIS MAN?! Do you all know how the government works..the whole divison of power thing…Checks & Balances….yes he is the president…..key word PRESIDENT…not monarch. Also to the comment about him making appearances all over the world…you do know that’s what presidents do right? EVERY past pres has made as many appearances as Obama. The difference is the Obamas are gettng more press than usual. Every little move they make, SOMEONE is there to photograph,write, or record it.

Also, out of curiosity, to everyone who feels the president isn’t doing a good job, what alternative solutions do you have? I am not going to get on anything dealing with Afghanistan…I don’t claim to know much about international affairs. Unfortunately I am one of those who believe we have plenty of domestic issues we need to take care of before we can bombard into another country and mess things up for them too. But as far as the economic woes of this country, what are your opinions. I have my own opinions, but then again, I’m not in government. But how do you feel about healthcare reform? Do you agree with the Republicans? Do you want to leave it as is? I am just curious. Ok I have went on enough…but feel free to respond.

The term (although I don’t use it during serious conversation..only in jest) is used to describe a black person doing anything to stay in the good graces of the white man. I will like to address your healthcare question and say this. If Obama was really concerned about insurance companies charging so much, he should work to open up competition in the industry. Are you aware, that you can only have health coverage from within your state, and most states have one or two companies that control 90%+ of the industry. So if they don’t have competition, they are able to and almost always charge excessive fees..If you go with Obama’s plan, the insurance companies will still be able to charge what they want, because the “public option” the Govt will provide, won’t be worth a dam that you will almost be forced to go to the same companies now, for quality healthcare. Obama is about maintaining status quo, not facilitating change. All I ever ask of people, is to dig deeper, and get past the first Black President and the symbolism involved with that. We need real solutions to very real problems, and Obama has fooled people into thinking, that those solutions will come from DC. Again, Never has, never will.

I would like for you or anyone to point to a time where politicians have offered real solutions to real problems, then put those solutions in motion. I won’t even get into the Federal Reserve bank and how we work non-stop paying off a never ending debt, that keeps us enslaved..Its 2010 now, and we need to be more diligent in our research, and stop letting CNN, MSNBC and FOX be our only source of information. It is hit or miss for me. I am a criminal justice student so most of the time I am stuck on First 48 or Court TV. I am not one of the more knowledgeable individuals when it comes to POLITICS (and will be FIRST to admit it). My “hmmmm” was just a statement…nothing more, nothing less. I recall you telling me on a previoius post about making ASSUMPTIONS and I took your comment objectively. I would suggest you apply the same when ASSUMING I meant something more by my statement. I simply asked a question. However, it does fascinate me to some degree that this is a page full of BLACK MEN crucifying our first black president. WOW!!! He has been in the office for a mere 9 months left with the rigorous responsibility of cleaning up Bush’s mess. Him being black was just an added benefit and a piece of history I was able to share with my son. His TRUE INTENTIONS will be made relevant over this term. My only issue with Obama, is, he is continuing on the same course that got us into this mess in the first place, and has hired many of the same people as well. Tim Geitner, Larry Summers, Ben Bernanke etc. are some of the same guys who orchestrated this collapse. These ebbs and flows in the market are NOT natural occurrences, like these news outlets would have us believe, they are the effects of corrupt policies. These asset bubbles are created, and continually inflated by artificial means, then when they burst, you get what we have now, millions of people losing jobs, homes, and dignity. Then Obama tries to create new bubbles with cash for clunkers and FHA home credits for first time buyers..More artificial bubbles…Its a sick game, and it always results in a transfer of wealth to the CEO’s and banksters..Lastly, I think we both know that many, many people did vote for him, only because he was Black and have got a clue about his policies. This man is just as bad as Bush. I know that might sound outlandish to you, but its true, and when all is said and done, This country will be in just as bad a shape, if not worse then when Bush left, and Bush definitely did a horrible job in his eight years..

p.s. All those grants and scholarships that you may receive for school, will be paid for by tax payers dollars. So in essence, you will be paying that back one way or another.

Shamel, I would not feel this way, if Mr. Obama were not going down the same exact road as the Bush administration and all other administrations in terms of economics. Basically, there are two major schools of thoughts when it comes to economics. Keynesian and Austrian. I personally see flaws in both since neither one of them adequately deals with potential corruption and fraud. When you run on a platform of change and transparency and then conduct business as usual, you sort of contradict yourself. Try this analogy. If you took your car to a mechanic and they totally destroyed it, I doubt seriously you would take your next vehicle there for repairs. Now lets say you did just to give a 2nd chance, and you happen to notice, that they were taking the same steps that were taken the last time you brought your car in, wouldn’t that raise some alarms internally? Wouldn’t you at least inquire about that? I’m sure you wouldn’t have a wait and see how it turns out, attitude.On a personal note, I like Mr. Obama. His personality is that of a dignified leader but the time is to critical for us to be caught up in his personality. I’m not accusing you of that, but there are so many who are indeed guilty. Lastly, you know you are 100& correct about healthy, respectful, thoughtful debate or discussion. I’m not a sensitive guy to be honest, I don’t mind guys like Blacksuperman throwing out his name calling, but what bothers me to no end, is the name calling, BUT no substantive comments. That is what I started off by asking a question (as opposed to making accusations) and it prompted a very informative debate. You are much more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to politics without a doubt. Like I said my thing is Criminal Justice. You have questions on Crime, Laws or even (most) of the Constitutional Amendments and such I can stomp with the big dogs (lol). Shamel… in most threads we have agreed more so then disagreed, Political Science is my major and I hate politics (as oxymoronic as that is) but I know I wouldn’t be able to conform in the way the system works, because they would be tryin to make an example out of me, so I would end up with life in jail. I would rather stay invovled on a local level as opposed to national. I don’t vote either, never have, and I don’t think I will ever do it. As much as I am critical of Bark, I embrace the idea that we have a man of color as our Commander-and-Chief, but I know thats about as far as that donkey rides. If I ever decide to do a book, it will be on the Constitution, breaking down every single law and amendment, that will more then likely get me killed.

Our people never look at the “Fine Print” we take everything at face value and run, and when it comes back to bite us, the people that fooled us, say how sad, move right along. The ethics of law, have almost exceeded that of times past because black people have become educated now, so its a matter of keeping us in check not to exceed the value that we have to change. Think about it, all in our society, the suit to jeans ratio as I call it. Right now its more white folks that wanna be black then it is vice versa.
