IF I SEE ONE MORE STORY ABOUT A SHOOTING OR MURDER INVOLVING BLACK PEOPLE, AND THE MEDIA QUOTES THE POLICE AS SAYING ITS DRUG RELATED AND/OR GANG RELATED, IM A LOSE IT!!!! IT IS NOT ALWAYS DRUG/GANG, THAT JUST THE TACTIC THEY EMPLOY TO PAINT BLACK FOLK(MEN IN PARTICULAR) AS VIOLENT ANIMALS AND MAKE THE MASSES UNSYMPATHETIC TO WHAT HAPPENS IN THE HOOD!!! HERE IN CHICAGO RECENTLY THERE WAS A TRIPLE MURDER DOWN THE STREET FROM WHERE I LIVE, AND THE LYING MEDIA SAID IT WAS DRUG GANG RELATED, JUST SO PEOPLE WOULD ASSUME AND NOT CARE, AND SADLY THAT SHYT WORKED, EVEN HAD PEOPLE SAYING THEY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED SINCE THEY LIVED BY THE SWORD!! AND SINCE ITS CLICHE TO SAY “OH THEY WERE GOOD PEOPLE, OR MY SON WAS A GOOD SON” PEOPLE THINK WHAT THEY THINK WITH NO SYMPATHY OR CONCERN!!! TRUTH WAS THOUGH THE VICTIMS ALL WERE GOOD DUDES, WHO HAD PASTS BUT HAD REFORMED AND WEREN’T ON NEGATIVITY, AND IT WAS NOT DRUG/GANG RELATED. BUT THAT WAS AND IS HOW THE POLICE AND MEDIA ALWAYS PAINT IT, AND PEOPLE TAKE THAT AT FACE VALUE AND FORM A THEY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED ATTITUDE(especially black folk) AND IT JUST DEVALUES LIFE PERIOD.

I’m with Rayskilla6, it’s funny that the news does recognize black deaths with drugs?? Why what’s the excuse when the white man kills family members, classmates and I made them plural because it is what it is. Reason ??????crazy, finances, jealous… pure hate!!!!!! Drugs are just an excuse for your news, and negative views of people of color.

Rayskilla, So why is it then that 9 times out of 10 when I read about a murder in my city (Milwaukee)and look up the “victim’s” record on CCAP there’s always a drug offense on there?

Actually the tally is up to 9 deaths over the weekend. It was a bad weekend and it is shaping up to be a bad summer due to more than 20 officers who will be losing their jobs due to budget cuts

@Mr_France to be honest because 9 times out of 10 the people you look up have at one time or another been arrested in possession of drugs. Having a drug offense on your record can and alot of times is as simple as being caught with a bag of weed. My point was and is, that most murder cases, let me rephrase BLACK MURDER cases are reported with the tagline or insert of drug and/or gang related! Socially and psychologically, the average person absorbs this, knowing that generally the fate of most drug dealers and gangbangers is death. So they see this an automatically have little or no concern or sympathy for the lost of a human life(and if that human life is black, and from a violent impoverished environment its almost expected) But this is by design, because it serves to prevent any type of real halt or solution to the violence and poverty, except for a ralley here n there. I knew a cat(R.I.P) who was straight as an arrow, worked since high school, stand up guy in anyone book, was murdered because of mistaken identity(had same car as the true target) and because the brother had a little bit of weed in his pocket when he was shot; THE P***K ASSHOLE CROOKED PIG POLICE AND DEVIL’S NUT HOLDING MEDIA, ruled it a DRUG RELATED MURDER!!! get the f….out of her.

Think of it like this what if you had a sister, who moved into a mobile home because of money issues or whatever, had an abusive boyfriend but no one knew he beat her, she can’t take it no more and he’s beating her almost to the point of death, in an act of desperation she grabs a gun, they wrestle, she shoot him fatally, but also wounds herself, that combined with the viscous beating ends her life as well, but she falls on top of or right next to the bf! AND WHEN THE POLICE FIND THEM AND GIVE THE STORY TO THE MEDIA, ITS JUST SIMPLY RULED A PETTY CRIME OF PASSION!!!! think about it.

I live in center city downtown Bmore… Mt. Vernon to be exact … and for the record I must say… This city is out of control. The worst part about it…. There’s nothing for these kids to do but sell drugs… Join gangs and murder each other… Due to he fact that there’s no after school programs… Recreation.. And the school systems are like prisons…. And the teacher act as if their correctional officers….. Something needs to be done with this crab bucket

I totally agree with 7star7… I also live in Baltimore and when I saw this I definately wasn’t surprised.. our teens are running wild.. school system in turmoil.. curuption with our government & police.. drugs, gangs and STD’s… shyt.. I jus wish our people could come together & support each other.. instead of hating and killing each other.. I try so hard 2 try 2 keep kids in my neighborhood doing positive things and tell them 2 stay off the streets.. all I can do is do my part and pray it inspires someone else 2 do the same.

As a child of a full blood native american woman (father black) and grandparents that are also full blood(different tribes) and growing up on two different reservations, I can say that “this being-deeper than the indians” issue you speak of is both horrific but totally different for indians. I can say this because I see and experience both sides of the coin. Some of the methods to destroying both may be the same in a few instances. But it would be inconsiderate and ethnocentric to say that the plight of the indian is worse than the black or vice versa. Both have suffered and both people have different methods and meanings of coping through all of it. Even up to this day.

I think Baltimore is going through the same thing that we’re witnessing here in Chicago: a “spiritual deficit”. Our communities are definitely not what they used to be; that we all know. What’s surprising and even shocking is the level of violence that escalates every time it occurs within our neighborhoods. I’m personally out of solutions and think that it’s going to take a divine intervention to bring us back down to a one-on-one relationship with God/Yah…Whenever people (perpetrators) act out in these types of ways, there’s something missing or unfulfilled on a personal level in their lives and a missing communication link. A lot of people, including myself, are angry these days for a variety of reasons, i.e. economy, personal, family problems, etc. But there are non-lethal control/release methods that can be used to relieve your anger/aggression without killing someone else.

Too all black young people. If you feel the way you do move, join the service or something but what ever you do move from the neighborhood you grew up in. The key is to get away from your comfort zone people. You got to get away from mom and dad. I understand the service is no the preferred option for black folk but everyone my make a sacrifice in order to contribute back to our race. What’s your? And yes, I’m a retiree and most are going to say I have been brain washed. But look on the bright side. I have lots of equity is all I’ll say and I no longer live in the hood after many years of living that life in Shreveport LA. You decide young folks take charge of your own destiny (only if you want that is). Stop trying to impress your friends. Stop making babies you can’t afford. I look forward to hearing back from any young person who is up for the challenge of being in the driver’s seat of their life.

We had the same problem in DC for many years and still do to some extent. The big difference is that the murders are down but violent crime is still a big problem. I would tell the people of Bmore to start at the top with your leadership. When the Mayor is stealing funds that should go to the poor you know you’ve got a corrupt Government. You need to start electing leaders with 21st century ideas. We did it in DC and it has worked for us we have a much better city these days. However, understand this when you do this beware of the “Gentrifiers” they will come for you. Development and improvement is great but not at the risk of losing your city’s culture. The Renaissance in in Bmore will happen just make sure that when it does, the people who have suffered the most are allowed to enjoy it. IT STARTS AT THE TOP!!!!

It is not just Baltimore,.. Philly, Atlanta, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, NY/NJ, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, DC, LA, Las Vegas, Tiajuana, Mexico City, Central America, South America, Amsterdam, East Africa, etc..etc.. so forth and so on..

WE need to THINK (for ourselves, not letting “RAPPERS” tell us how to react)
Obviously, our counselors/mentors (i.e., Ministers, Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Elders) are MISinformed -or- NOT informing us of how to treat &/or interact with each other.

THINK first, then react.

And stop being so EMOTIONAL about trivial items (“temporary” /”seasonal” Girlfriends, “he stepped on my shoes” theories, Cowards who cant/wont FIGHT, etc..)
