@ doraindeville….regardless of what the young man did I’m sure it did not warrant the unnecessary violence that ensued especially after as the article points out he had been subdued. I’ve been privy to situations where the police get overzealous one of which led to the shooting of a young man for no reason. I’m not one of those people that run around preaching the “f*uck the police” gospel but I think that if we as citizens are to place our lives in the polices hands for safe keeping then I would expect the individuals involved to set aside personal problems and prejudices to work as justly as possible.

Brandons brother was being arrested for breaking into a home in their neighborhood. The only truth we actually know. Many of the injuries on Brandons face is called road rash, while being held to the pavement attempting to be cuffed he fought thus the rashing marks from the pavement and cause of some of the bruising around the eye. I was not there so all I have is the stories floating from both sides of this victim (who happens to be something like 5’9 and about 200 pds) It was initially reported he was angry because police were arresting his brother and he began fighting the police after being asked many times to go back into his home. It has been stated he was yelling for his friends and neighbors to get involved (attempting to insight a riot) the officer who has been terminated was off duty but lives in this neighborhood and heard the call go out. There have been many homes broken into in this area so he responded. The story has many twists and turns and only those directly involved know the truth. Now the mother, lawyer, and ministers involved in all of this are making Brandon out to be a sweet innocent child. They are saying he was in full compliance with the officers and did nothing whatsoever wrong. Just as this all broke I looked up this kids MySpace page and well let’s say it read young thug all over it and these boys are no strangers to the law. He had a statement somthing like “I gets mine anyway I can” He didnt deserve to be beat BUT if these injuries were incurred during the course of trying to detain him then so be it, if it is true and the officer kept plowing on him after he had been cuffed and subdued then the officer gets what he gets. Why were the charges dropped against Brandon? We are only teaching him to scream foul each and every time he gets in trouble. We will read about him again and his brother there is no doubt in many of the communities minds about this. Sadly, it will be one or both of them being shot by an armed home owner during a mid-day break-in!

Some of what was reported by Channel 13 news:

According to a police report, officers had just arrested the teen’s younger brother for trying to break into a nearby home. Officers said Brandon was yelling at them for arresting his brother and trying to incite a crowd of witnesses.

“Apparently this was getting out of hand to the point that they felt threatened by other family members and it was starting to become a situation that could have easily got out of hand and caused a lot of problems,” said IMPD Lt. Jeff Duhamell.

Officers on scene said they tried to cuff Brandon, but he violently resisted and fought them even after they got him on the ground. Brandon has a different version of events.

“He just swung and hit me like this, and I fell to the ground, and then I looked up and he punched me twice and then another came and held me down and then got the knee in me and one had his foot on my back, holding my head down with that, so I couldn’t do anything,” says Brandon, describing how the officers got him on the ground.

I am the first to say I am glad this officer is no longer able to work the streets in this capacity. Why were there no officers cameras running? It has been stated back up was called because there was a crowd forming and there was much anger over the arrest of the younger child. I guess with all the kids involved in this (another had been arrested also) why was Brandon the only one who happened to have a physical altercation? Why was no other child (they were black, mixed, and white) not accosted by any of the 5 officers accused of being out of control? So many questions that we will never get an answer for because no one in this whole ordeal is telling the whole truth, from the witnesses to the kids to even the police.

Until I hear something that changes my mind, I think the girl did something to provoke her beatdown. I mean, the cops didn’t pick her name out of a hat to whip her. She had to do something. She either hit one of the officers first or was being a typical mouthy black girl because her parents failed to teach her to respect her elders, or authoritah (LOL)
