Donald Trump is once again trumpeting his belief that he does like black people. On the Monday edition of “Fox & Friends,” the political mogul addressed new accusations of racism from African-American activist Van Jones, who has called on Star Jones and Lil Jon to make a statement against Trump for his attacks on Obama. Trump’s previous defense? Claiming to have a great relationship with “the blacks.” This time, the rabble-rouser shares some new reasoning. Talking Points Memo reports:

Trump was on “Fox & Friends” Monday and addressed a campaign by Van Jones and Color of Change, a political advocacy group for African-Americans, to get “Celebrity Apprentice” contestants Star Jones and Lil Jon to condemn Trump for “race-baiting.”

“When it comes to racism and racists,” Trump said, “I am the least racist person there is. And I think most people that know me would tell you that. I am the least racist. I’ve had great relationships.”

“In fact,” Trump added, “Randal Pinkett won on ‘The Apprentice’ a little while ago, a couple years ago, and Randal’s been outstanding in every way. So I am the least racist person. But [Van Jones] is a guy trying to get some publicity for himself by attacking Donald Trump.”

Pinkett won the show in 2005, and was the first African-American contestant to win.

Donald Trump may want to prove that demanding President Obama’s “records” does not have a racist motivation — but his previous treatment of another intelligent African-American man tells a different story. In a separate report, Talking Points Memo interviewed a former black contestant of “The Apprentice,” Kevin Allen, who told the popular news blog that Trump “Apparently… doesn’t like educated African-Americans very much.”

Allen was a finalist who appeared on season two of “The Apprentice,” and was ironically fired from the show with the strange accusation from Trump that he was much too educated. The sheer fact that Allen was a stellar black man with two MBAs made Trump suspicious of him, a fact that was noted in the mainstream press as odd at the time. Does an amazing education make put any intelligent black man in the cross hairs for a Trump attack?

Combined with the fact that Trump was accused of racial discrimination for his housing practices in the seventies, these facts point to the possibility that the man has a problem. At the very least, his paper trail demands an intelligent statement from him on the issue. Trump is not doing himself any favors by continuing to offer glib remarks about how great he thinks he is.

As prominent African-Americans on the current season of “Celebrity Apprentice,” Star Jones and Lil Jon are in a unique position to help their mentor if they truly believe that Trump is a friend to them. These black stars will be doing themselves a disservice if they say nothing. By remaining silent, they will look like sell-outs. If they speak up to help their friend, they can finally help Trump take a positive stand. Without a statement from Star Jones and Lil Jon, Trump will continue his posture as a racially-insensitive dunce, this time backed up by two fools. If this is the outcome, Trump and “the blacks” on his show will end up as losers, even if one of them wins.
