And to Mr. Kitwana (author of this article) I'm not sure what he actually did to subvert white supremacy...I have no issues with him and expect him to be one of the best presidents we've seen thus far, but I think the title of this article is misleading. I think he's more aware of it than any other president has been, but it's not in his best interest to talk about white supremacy lest people gladly accuse him of playing this proverbial race card I hear white people speaking about so often.

ManofLeisure, I agree that we should look past likeability and popularity when really evaluating a president. I also know that Bill Clinton was not much better than G.W. Bush, but I don't understand who you claim is dying on Obama's behalf. And to expect a president to completely ignore what the people want is unrealistic. After all this is supposedly a democracy meaning they voted him in. You can't ignore polls completely. I don't think he's trippin too hard off of the polls, I think he's concentrated on doing what he said he would do during his campaign. And you're speakin the same rhetoric I hear from a lot of Republicans about him not being able to keep Americans safe, but what are you referring to? I'm curious, because their was a war in full swing when he took office. Not only this, but in case you forgot he was the one who smoothly put an end to that hostage situation without making much noise. Because he doesn't want a pat on the back for what he's supposed to do. People just give it to him anyway because he's smooth and relatively transparent as a public figure. I'm curious to know what exactly you're criticizing about him, especially on the matter of safety...

Its funny...today, most people still have good feelings about Bill Clinton...in spite of the fact that he has more blood on his hands (and got more Americans killed) than any modern era president. In case you forgot: Rwanda, Mogadischu, Chechnya, Bosnia/Kosovo, 1st WTC Bombing, the African Embassy bombings, Waco, OK City...I could go on and on. Hundreds and thousands of people - including Americans - dead...mostly because we had a president that was more concerned about poll numbers than casualty figures.
Apologies tend to make people who are not emotionally involved in whatever the disagreement is "feel better". This was an important key to Clinton's likeability in the past...and Obama has mastered this quality as well.

I think its kinda cool that everyone seems to like Obama so much. Yet I dont live in a dreamworld - when the chips are down, Obama is not going to make the hard decisions needed to keep anyone - especially americans - safe. He will do whatever the polls say is favorable.

So he will do whatever he thinks will keep people liking him...and after his time in office, like Clinton, he will have paid for his high poll numbers in part with blood. I wonder how many other genocides will go on unchecked though his presidency?

I feel like Obama is all about inclusion. But everybody doesn't feel the same way as he does. When people are polled it's only 1,000 to 2,000 people who are surveyed, not the whole country. I feel like race relations are still the same and stagnant after the election. Change doesn't comes overnight or instant. It happens over a period of time. I reach out to those who reach out to me. Basically I don't force relationships or associations with people regardless of color. Another thing the Republican party is more desparate right now than middle aged woman looking for a husband. lol!!!
