I’ll be glad when black Americans realize that the ‘big bad black n!gger on the plantation’ mentality, was taught to us by the slave master and that we are free now. Yeah but we already know that Denzel and Pacino are acting before you see them on the screen. It’s their job. But these rapping fools don’t want you to know they’re acting. At least not until someone takes one of their boasts, disses or insults seriously and wants to challenge them or go to war. Then their tough guy facade falls apart with the quickness. Think about all those rappers out here talking smack about what they’ll do to somebody, then think about all the rappers who’ve gone to jail or died because they’re out here trying to play wanna-be gangster with real street thugs so they can fool us into believing they’re really hard. The problem is too many real thugs got into the game and got respect and became the gold standard of hip hop so now everybody wants a bad rep like an arrest conviction for assault or firearms to prove they belong.

Hey, it worked for Stepin Fetchit. He was an educated man who played the role of buffon/minstrel/clown in films from the 20s-70s and became the first black millionaire. These rappers have been doing the same thing since Public Enemy hired Flava Flav right up to Lil Jon and laughing all the way to the bank. You’d think they’d at least take some of that money and invest in something legal and long-term or go to business school for when the well goes dry.

I’m no Plies fan, but we all know negativity spreads faster. Music, movies, news, and everything else. I don’t like it, but it is what it is.

I will say this though, I find it funny how the same people who will go and watch movies filled with sex and violence, and then turn around and say it’s bad for rap to showcase that. If you don’t support sex and violence in rap, you d*mn sure shouldn’t be supporting it in movies. It’s a lot easier to see something, than visualize what you hear.
