Looking at the pictures of the President Elect’s daughters being escorted to school by secret servicemen, I was reminded of other young black girls who had to be escorted to school by government agents. For years young boys and girls had to struggle with harassment segregation and racism so today Sasha and Malia could go the best school in our nation’s capital.

Here is a gallery documenting the struggle that many young African American children had to endure in the fight for equal eduction.

Wonderful article. Our culture could use a wake up call and realty check that we education was a fight not a gift that was suppose to be given to us. Praise God, for the blessing we and our children may partake in today.

This gives a whole new meaning to… “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.”

We have come so far.. and still have many rivers to cross.. and miles to go.. But as of right now I am oh so Proud to be an American ;)

We have so much work to do before we can ALL have equality and harmony..

But we definitely have our work cut out for us..

Young Black people, continue your education and become something great..

If Obama can do it, you can for you and your family too..

too bad black folks shun education the way we do now. it’s almost like what our ancestors fought for was for nothing.

yo are you guys serious? the down fall of us is when we wanted to be integrated with these baboon savages. we act like there education was better than ours. we are the original on this earth. we don’t need no white men education. we had our own. the only thing we didn’t have was rights and we could have that if we went to fight for our country or go where we are accepted. Haiti allowed any help from any blacks that would put there all for a country. but no we put all our all to be accepted by them Benjamin Banneker was a self taught inventor. he did not need all the white men education. but we fought so hard to be all up on these baboons nut sack. the education interest in our people decline. when we went to there school and teachers saying we cant amount to anything. the only reason your there is cause we kept on crying to have a white men pie. we create our own pie if we put our mind into it. there education? come on folks. obama is little stuff. we did great things with out white folks hands on it. so please this picture bothers me of how we want approval from white people so bad. that is what they wanted

I am so glad I believe in Jesus as my struggle is now one of hundreds. I am dealing with an outright racist judge Frances Doherty who going against the law thinks that two white strangers should raise my black children only to find out that my black children aren’t the only ones dealing with this kind of injustice in Nevada. I become overwhelmed at the thought that four black shildren died in this struggle and my children still aren’t free.
