You can’t blame CNN.BLAME THAT STUPID F**KING COON WHO USED THE WORD IN THE SONG.

I don’t care for the word; however, I don’t see any disrespect in the overall message of the song. With that said, I wish they would have used a different song because I think any use of the n-word regarding a one hundred and three year old young lady is disgraceful. When it’s use … when it’s just a bunch of young people playing cards enjoying hanging with friends, I don’t have a problem with a song like this, but when it comes to our elders, the people that we’re suppose to respect and honor, I have an issue with a song like this playing I’m the background. Honestly I don’t blame CNN, yes they should of screened it before playing the song. However, this word has been used so carelessly through the years until it has become a part of our vocabulary. Don’t blame CNN, blame Coolio, Snoop Dog, and the rest. It started with Richard Pryor and just kept going, non-blacks are confused and I don’t blame them. Fox news would be more likely to be called out on something like this, but that’s expected there.
Honestly though, should we be more upset at the news channel or the music artists who consistently make it seem like it’s okay to say words in a casual context?
Regardless, the word itself isn’t so much the problem as it is the intent and meaning behind it. This, however, does not validate the idea of making it a term of endearment as it muddies the situation even further so one of the better ideas I’ve heard was just to leave the word alone.

Why would any of y’all get mad about this? We ride around in our cars bumpin loud music with all kinds of cuss words anytime of day, even sunday mornings which I always thought was off limits( you know, respecting church) ..We pride ourselves in being ignorant…. perfect example, look at any typical blackplanet page. It doesn’t matter who is around to hear it, we accept being called N’s and B’s ….we love being called N’s and B’s. We are such hypocrites …Coolio at the time was young and dumb just like most of us, but in this case, its his record FOREVER !!…… I am pretty sure CNN like most of of us view Coolio as a mild artist and didn’t realize that line was in there. Music shouldn’t have to be censored, you only have this stupid problem in hip hop and modern r&b. Bet you can play any Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson song with out having to worry about any bad words!

The interesting thing is that it was a black man calling another black man the N word, so how mad can we really be about it? We need to really take a good look at ourselves in the mirror and get our acts together. I am not really mad at CNN at all because I have never known anyone of those news anchors to to share any hatred views towards African Americans.

The problem is not the song. Its the fact that the story is about a 103 year old woman and she has nothign to do with the subject matter.
