Aww but come on guy, usually comedy is based on taking a social situation or event and breaking it down to it’s lowest common denominator and poking fun at it. Satire at it’s best. Life is complicated enough, comedy shouldn’t be complicated too. You shouldn’t have to ponder on whether or not a joke is funny before you laugh at it. It should be obviously funny. Madea is funny because we all know someone like her (though not as intense), her character is extreme.

And sorry to the homophobes. I’m sure Mr Perry is laughing all the way to the bank, as Madea is who people are paying to see.

i’m FAR from a homophobe, but the fact is tyler perry’s SOLE success is based upon dressing up as a fairly ignorant fat old lady.

eddie murphy and martin lawrence HAVE dressed up as women, and they’ve also dressed up as white men, old men, fat men and other characters. their careers dont have as a foundation that of being a drag queen.
