oh wow. I never knew all of these different paintings were by the same man. I mean, I saw the similarities in style, but I thought it was just the era. He will truly be missed.

Mr. Barnes paintings were always deeply nostalgic for me as a child like seeing the paintings made me wanna be there to the point I could feel the atmosphere in the painting… they are also very thought provoking. I’m sorry he is gone, he will be missed but me and my children will enjoy his work for decades and decades to come!

Truly a great talent and artist lost. His unique style will forever be ingrained in the African Diaspora that is legacy of African-American culture, especially with his mass mainstream exposure through Marvin Gaye’s works and Good Times. I am thankful he was able to share his talent with the world. No matter where mainstream society tries to place and locate him as an artist in history, he was a uniquely extraordinary talented artist. His expressive works were raw, edgy, and real. RIP ERNIE BARNES!
