Obama Praises 8-Year-Old For Sending His Allowance To Haiti

Third-grader Amirikis Smith thought being mentioned in Obama’s speech was ‘amazing.’

“It lives on,” the president said, “in the 8-year-old boy in Louisiana, who just sent me his allowance and asked if I would give it the people of Haiti.”

The president did not identify the young man by name, but on Thursday the White House said it was Amirikis Smith, a third-grader at Red River Elementary School in Coushatta, where he lives with his grandparents, Vera and the Rev. Louis Smith Jr., who ministers at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in nearby Shreveport.

    This young man has done a greater deed than the entire US Government. He has actually given money with no strings attached. Unfortunately, the strings attached to the US aid will result in another 100 years of imperialism!

    this is the type of POSITIVE news that just warms my heart about my black people. We NEED to raise our kids with this kind of awareness in today’s society instead of all the irrelevant nonsense like the latest jordans, i-pods, Gucci, Prada, Kanye West tantrums, etc.

    I myself have donated money for the Rescue Haiti cause and its good to see people from all over the world contribute to this tragedy.
