First of all, Mark Sanford is an a*****e. I mean what other type of man would bring a pig into the state house? As someone who graduated from a public school in South Carolina that lacked funding and had many health and safety code violations, I sympathize with the young girl. As an education major, I am worried that I may not have a job. He is not only cutting funding for public schools but for the special needs children. He claims to be the savior America needs. He so stingy with OUR tax money that he wanna stop unemployment and gov’t programs that will help ppl in this time of need. We number 2 in unemployment but he wanna stop unemployment insurance and things. His motives may not be about race but they definitely show that he could care less about the Blacks in this state. I can’t wait until he’s out. Believe me, we will be better off without someone who could care less about his own people.

Well many South Carolina residents do vote for new representatives in our offices, but its so easy for the office holders to sway votes in office. As a product of South Carolina public education I understand completely what the young sister is going through.It really doesnt have to do with racism though, so you all stop being ignorant and saying that, not true at all. Many public schools are mixed, sometimes the majority of public schools in SC happen to be African American/hispanic. Its diffcult though when few try to represent the public education and do not succeed. You all also have to understand the wealthy whites put their children into private or charter schools, so the public school system loses a lot of revenue. We do progress but its just not as drastic as other states. Dont critize our state help us, if you see someone going to the left pick them up and lead them to the right.

You all seem surprised about this coming from the governor who vetos everything that comes across his desk that is not part of “his” plan. Nothing surprises me with Governor Mark Sanford. He’s part of that Good Ole Boy mentality that still exist till this day, and if you don’t believe that, drive by the Capital Building in Columbia and what do you see; “The Confederate Flag!” Yeah they took it down off the building and put it smack dab in ya faces. Now tell me if that ain’t a slap in the face. I praise this young lady for taking the time to speak on the conditions at her school. I just don’t expect President Obama to be our saving grace and fix all of our problems. He is only part of the solution and we have to be the other.

There cant be more than said that this is sad situation. I am from Colorado and right now the school that I work for faces major budget cuts. The only thing I can say is that who would deny help if they were facing a economic crisis? I agree that the those who don
t take advantages of the stimulus bill will need to do alot of rearranging with their budget and will have to issue a long range of apologies for the many people they intend to lay off. I dont think i could sleep at night just thinking about it.

I have one question: who voted that a*****e into office? Most likely the residents of the state who fed into the political bulls**t! i agree that a*****es like him are one of the reasons why our schools are ranked so low. I bet anything that the money that the state will receive will be used on things that are not needed immediately. I personally feel that if the school was filled with white kids, then i bet that the school will be up to code and we wouldn’t hear about it in the media.

I live in Michigan where the unemployment rate is the highest in the nation , but our schools are in good condition, thank the Lord, this really saddens me to see other children having to go to school in this condition, and to see the Goveron deny money that will help the situation, it’s really sad is all i can say, he needs to be put out of office.

I am a native of South Carolina and it saddens my heart that this is how our state is represented. I was fortunate enough that my school zone fell within in the ranks of going to a mix school where both prominent black and white children atteneded school thus making it inpossible for them to not teach us. However, They made it harder on our district because it is more blakks than whites. These children of Dillion deserve better and I hope that we as South Carolinians start making some noise so that they can be helped.It sad that here they would rather build prisons than schoools.

I worked for Atlanta city council so I know a thing or 2 about budgets and how they should work.. and I know about dealing with people who have super conservative Ideologies. This is not racism its personal gains like all politicians. They only do what further their careers. Guess who want’s to lead the Republican party as the Next President, go figure. Their argument has been that they love Our Country so much and will do what they can to not leave high debt to our grandchildren. Let me ask you this, where were their concerns for grandchildren when they was voting to send trillions of dollar to Irag to fight a war. They didn’t seem to care about their childrens future then. Let’s see, the money to Iraq is US tax payers money. When will it be return to the tax payers coffers, let see, never. Stimulus money to american people, will be returned in the form of tax dollars to be regenerated again. Let’s see war money, no return, stimulus money, tax payers pay more taxes, which one looks like a better deal for the American tax payers. go figure, you be the judge. So, the final analysis, The Republican without the power to control how the tax money is funneled has to object because too many of their friends might not get contract, like the democrat’s friends over the pass eight years. War money was sent overseas and out of the control of the congress and now the tables are turned. No, this is not racism, its just plain all politics at the expense of the constituents as usual. Wake up people, look at reality and not what they say. Republican has lost the battle but the war is just begun. Democrats did the same thing over the pass eight years. Both parties has to go. We need a real Reform Party for the people.

I don’t like the way this article was worded.. is this an editorial or a report of an occurrence. it seems to me that it should be a report and the fact that the writer interjected their opinion of the governor shows who intelligent they are. and the fact that someone said he was racist every black person jumps on that band wagon. we need to look past that. it is that time. because if we arent doing things to better our selves then we are destined to stay in the same situations that we have been in. I don’t remember anything in Sanford’s history in his political career to indicate any sign of racism. He’s very right wing true, but so is Alan Keys and Michael Steele. That doesn’t make either of them racist. Not sure what evidence this article is basing these accusations on. On another note, do I agree with him in turning down the money?
