While I don’t condone this teachers actions, and agree with them firing her, I read the full story, and on all accounts, this little boy was a problem. He was a bully whose parents felt no need to curb his behavior even after multiple problems in school. I feel, I have every right to send my child to school and know they will be safe from being bullied and attacked by other children. I wouldn’t have taken this teachers actions, violence is never the answer, two wrongs don’t make a right. BUT, I feel this could have been avoided had the parents simply disciplined their child and taught him proper behavior. When they go to school, don’t simply make them the schools problem, ensure that they know the proper way to behave, and treat others, and problems like this wouldn’t happen, because its not the schools job to discipline the students, but to educate them.

regardless of whether he hit that lil girl or not no one should deserve be hit not even him so he should have gotten in trouble at home that teacher is not his mother she is what the title say Teacher her name isnt on that child’s birth certificate. Little girls like to hit on little boys. I have two boys and I raised them not to hit girls rather than hit them or not. I found out the hard way that was the wrong thing to do. My son came home with a black eye and a star because he didn’t hit the little girl back. The little girl was not punished for her actions. I went to the school and the superintendent of the district and they felt like that was the right action. From that point on I taught my boys to give girls 3 warnings: 1. tell her you are a boy and you will hurt her; 2. hit her one time as hard as you can to let her know you are a boy and you will hurt her; 3. you beat her like she was a boy. You can’t keep telling boys not to hit girls when girls are doing the hitting it goes both ways. When the little girl was asked why she kept hitting him she claimed to have liked him and liked it when he hit her back. This was two different situations, but if people don’t want boys hitting girls then girls need to be taught not to hit boys. I have a daughter as well and I taught her not to hit boys unless she wanted to be hit back by a boy. The teacher and the school was wrong. The teacher was wrong for allowing the other children to hit him. The school was wrong for allowing him to stay. It was a private school which means his parents paid for him to attend the school. The parents would have been mad because the school should have put him out and kept the parents money. Parents shouldn’t be allowed to send their children to school to torment other children. They should either keep them home or send them to public school.

I agree…if the parents would’ve done their job and disciplined him, then it wouldn’t have had to come to this. But I want to bring up a similar situation in the bible (not to be a bible thumper or anything, but just letting you know that this stuff ain’t new. It’s been going on). 1Samuel talked about when Eli was the highest priest and was showing Samuel how to serve God and lead the Isrealites to God. Eli’s sons were bad and evil in heart (Eli was a Levite and they were ordained by God to be priests). Eli knew his sons were no good, but he did nothing to descipline them and not only did they get worse, but God punished them with death. He was also mad at Eli bcuz he was the parent and was suppose to do something to stop it before it got out of hand. So needless to say, they paid with their life and that will happen to anybody who don’t correct their actions or the actions of their kids.

Okay… im just gunna start by.. LMAO… I shouldn’t laugh but I just got an image. ANYway, on another hand shame on that teacher for telling the kids to do that to one little boy, thats not how you teach kids a lesson. So yea that was an MAJOR fail on the teachers part. Especially w/ a group of 5 year olds who are so still influential.

I HAVE CHILDREN, who are young, and I feel they should b SAFE going to school. Ok, if this girl hit him repeatedly, he shoulda responded with fighting back, (I don’t subscribe to males not hitting females, if they hit you, hit they ass back, they said, non-verbally that they’re ready to FIGHT) But, to hit her in the face, was overboard, i’m sorry. And, this was not the first incident of him attacking a child, so i’m sorry, HE WAS WRONG. I don’t feel my child should be scared to go to school, in fear that someone else’s child will attack them. If you don’t want your child to have discipline problems, take care of it at home! I would attack anyone who hit or placed my child in danger, but that’s cause I’m SURE that i’ve taught them right from wrong, and would not have provoked the action.

What is wrong with people!!!!! Violence + violence = MORE VIOLENCE! This teacher should have his ass beat. These are children; he’s supposed to be able to control them – HE’S THE ADULT! Apparently the boy has a behavior problem that needs to be addressed and hitting him because of it is not the way to go. Why can’t people understand that? His parents probably beat him everyday or on a regular basis, which is why he lashes out at others. People who apply for teaching jobs, in my opinion, should be required to pass a psych eval before they’re hired!

Little girls should not hit little boys and vice versa..this is why females get their butts beat down as adults..because its not taught to them as little girls -you don’t hit boys… adult females thinking its ok to hit adult males because males aren’t suppose to hit females.. well, boys have to be TAUGHT as little boys NOT to hit little girls.. so Women..not all boys are taught this..so don’t roll the dice..and think you can hit a man and he won’t hit back..

My parents instilled in my one sister among 5 brothers that she never has the right to hit her brothers because she is the only girl amongst her brothers…and we as her brothers were to never hit her.. but protect her the rest of our born days.

All I have to say if any adult of any sex ..is trying to physically kill me or mine..I will defend myshelf and mine…regardless if you are a female or male.

Yet, here again we have a teacher NOT doing their job..and what makes this the worst..is the 6+ years of good service and all it took is one incident like this to lose all of that…yes the teacher should be fired..and If I was the parent(s)..I would sue the teacher for reckless endangerment of a child.(my child)

I have a problem with the fact as noted in the article- this child has a medical condition, if hit in the head could die? Doesn’t make sense to have a child with a medical condition as such to be in a public school, undoubtly, a five year old child is gonna get bumps and bruises occasionally.

The teacher made a stupid decision, lost their job for it and the kid is fine. Justice served. Get over it and move on.

Administration reported pokes instead of punches b/c they could see a civil suit on the horizon. Two reports against the teacher was filed and the school’s still trying to say the lost was to the school and teacher. Not much said about the harm done to the child.

That’s the problem with some parents, they think their child can “do no wrong”. But to those individuals who think the teacher was wrong in their approach…..ask yourself this one question….”What would u do if that poor little girl was your own child”? Personally, if that little girl was my child, I would take the teacher out to dinner and personally use my contacts to help them get a better job. Teaching is a hard enough job, but it gets harder when u have ignorant and out-of-control students that u have to discipline BEFORE u can try to teach them anything. I think it’s ashame!

I am a teacher. I have had students do things to one another that they shouldn’t. At no point have I ever told other students take it upon themselves to discipline classmates. They know bullying is unacceptable in our classroom family and that if they choose to mistreat classmates, they’ll be separated from them. The same would have been the case with the little boy. If he punched the little girl in the face unprovoked and we were still on school grounds, he wouldn’t be going on the trip. Mom would be notified and given the choice to come pick him up from the school office or leave him until the end of the day. If the little girl started it, they’d both be in the office. Problem solved.

The teacher was wrong for her form of discipline. Yes he needed to be punished, but not by the students. Doing that could have made him lash out at one of them, then the teacher really would’ve had something on her hands.

Good for the kid, next time he’ll think twice about bullying lil girls in his class

Not only that, choosingwordswisely, but if the incident had occurred on the field trip, the two fighters would have to take a seat with the chaperones until they arrived back to the school, a trip to the principal’s office would be in order, and parents would be called into the principal’s office to work out the dispute. It’s terrible the way things work out for all parties, it’s almost like hazing children. The blessing in this is that the children that poked the child had the presence of mind not to hit the little boy in the face.

Anyone advocating what the teacher did obviously does not have children. He is 5. I say again. He is 5 years old.

I have both a son and a daughter and rarely does a fight start that my daughter did not instigate because she knows my son has been conditioned NOT to hit her.

It really matters little who was the aggressor. He is 5. Surely the teacher exersised poor judgement and needs employment in another profession.

There is something seriously wrong with ANYONE who thinks what this teacher did was ok. Seriously wrong. I don’t care how bad he is. Expel him. That is exactly whats wrong with black kids now. The article did not say he was bullying the girl, it said they got into a fight. come on people, the black community has enough issues of stereo-typical attitudes (men and women) and violence. We do not teach our children it okay to hit boy but not girl. Most of the deadly violence in the black community is violence my men against other men. Parents and teacher, we need to teach our children to rise above the use of violence to handle situations unless no other alternative exist.

Something similar happened to me in 1st grade. I accidently scratched a classmate with a pencil when I was going to the reading table and the teacher told him to punch in my stomach as hard as he could even after I apologized. I disliked that teacher for the rest of the school year. If my mom had a ride to the school that teacher would have had her a$$ beat.

The teacher was wrong for that. She should have called him momma and the momma should have spanked him for hitting that little girl. She needs to find that teacher and punch her a$$ in the face! An eye for an eye!
