Wow, that’s crazy.
After reading the full story, I feel like it was a crazy mistake, that amounts to gross negligence. I feel like abandonment takes some intentional conduct, not a mistake. That’s probably why they haven’t charged the parents. A very unfortunate mistake.

SMMFH!!!! This is insane!!!! This is why we COMMUNICATE!!! We check, re-check, check again, and physically LOOK to verify what is going on. This is truly sad. It seems as though there was no communication, and no serious concern for this child. His parents should be ashamed. I wish I could have a child to show them what REAL PARENTING is. My parents split when I was 6 and divorced when I was 10 but they never forgot where I, or my brothers, were at. My mother still calls me to this day and asks of my whereabouts even when I am asleep. It bugs me at times, but it shows she cares. Nowadays these so-called parents have these kids and neglect them because they don’t “feel like” raising them. This is beyond sick. I hope this little boy finds a good home.

Baby_Oklahoma, no one has a child thinking the WORST outcome is going to happen. Things happen, sh.it happens and you deal with it. Everybody ALWAYS think that THEIR parenting skills is superior to another, then they find out it isn’t! No parenting is fool proof and NO child is going to be a perfect, well behaved, great child that all you do is add, love, plenty of attention, affection, clothes and boom! There it is.

I feel sorry for this very unfortunate situation and it could very well be that one parent thought the other had control of him, so they didn’t worry until later. The whole story isn’t told here so all we can do and all we’re left to do is fill in our OWN blank with questions and answers that probably differ drastically than the actual circ**stance.

Oh…it’s so EASY to say what you shoulda, woulda, and could HAVE done in such a situation…because it ain’t you! Everybody makes unintended mistakes and think about it; if they were such HORRIBLE parents, do you really think they would have even bothered giving their son a birthday party in the first place??? Hell, it could have just as easily been a scenario where another relative took him with them, told another party goer who forgot to tell a parent who, when it was all said and done, thought the worst had happened, and their child was kidnapped. Police gets called, a whole man hunt and the news is involved…only to have someone finally speak up admitting they forgot to pass the info along, and the relative saying they thought they (parents) knew he was in their custody!

so, again, this could be any one of many scenarios that is easy to point the finger of blame and say how you would have been a much better parent. You don’t know, because it hasn’t happened to you.

Don’t care how you slice it that’s bad parenting. I’m 22 years old and have lived on my own since I was 19. My mother doesn’t let 24 hours pass without talking to me. If for some reason hours pass and my phone keeps going straight to vm or I’m not answering she calls my best friend to make sure I’m OK. As Baby_Oklahoma said it can be very annoying at times but bet this: I would never be missing more than 2 hours before my mother filed a police report with every precinct in Dallas and had a caravan of her church buddies looking for me. You know, the way a REAL mother should instead of assuming everything is OK. Because we all know in today’s world, you can’t assume anything.

WTF???? After reading the whole story, the parents never even came to look for the boy til TWO F.UCKING DAYS LATER. I remember i lost my daughter’s hand in a crowded Zoo ONCE and was panicked after 5 F.UCKING seconds. Who walks away from a child in a restaurant and doesn’t notice that they’re gone? When my children were 3, there was NO WAY they weren’t holding onto some adult’s hand. This s.hit stopped being a MISTAKE after they didn’t notice the boy missing after the first hour. THEN, they waited til a day AFTER they noticed him missing to even worry and try to search for him. How can you not know that you’re short a child? And, on his birthday? This is Bad parenting at its worst, no matter how you spin it. These parents deserve to be brought up on charges, and have any POSSIBILITY of caring for any other children stripped from them. A child is a privilege, and a responsibility. Like a previous poster said, not everyone is blessed with the ability to reproduce, my best female friend since HS would be the best mother ever has wanted a child forever, but can’t have children, and these idiots are just so cavalier with theirs. I Thank God that child’s safe, and in the care of someone else.

That’s a d@mn shame leaving a child like that all alone and on his birthday of all things. There is no way they should have forgotten him. I wonder if they were drinking at his party because they’ll probably blame it on the alcohol. That’s just all around bad parenting no matter how you slice it.

The news report Monday that the parents are separted but live in the same apartment building but different one.That show the mother on the new today and she wouldnt speak and then she finally said there was a miscommunication between the father and herself.She hope that she doesn’t lose him. I just can’t understand the fact is the party was Saturday and you realize the child was not with neither one of the parent Monday afternoon. I know I’m not a parent but how do you not call the other parent to speak to the child he’s only 3.

I haven’t seen the dad, but the mom was trying to hide her face. Why do something if your gonna have to hide your face afterward? Just nasty.

If daycare and school teachers are expected to keep a head count of 20+ children everyday, I’m gonna have to expect 2 parents to keep up with their 1 child. I am far from a perfect parent. I can understand your child can get away from you for a minute maybe even two, but not for two days. I am not leaving a place without knowing exactly where my child is and where he is going. Furthermore, he’s not going to sleep at night without hearing my voice. Whether I am with the father or not, he would have heard from that night to tell my child good night. This one is not one that someone can make any sense out of.

I have been a caregiver for 6 yrs, to leave a child behind is a big NO NO, on average I have 40 children under my watch, they only had 1, I have never left an of them behind or unclaimed, they should be charged, this was no mistake, they knew it was the child’s birthday he came with them, so COMMON SENSE would tell them, he didn’t leave with them, do not give them a break, charge them with child endangerment, neglect,abandonment, and let this be a lesson learned, i pray the child wont be traumatized, and wasn’t harmed!! So let me get this right……both parents take the boy out to celebrate his birthday and when it’s time to leave they go their separate ways and neither one bothers to check and see if the boy’s with them? Did they even give the boy a hug and kiss before they left? Did they even take the time to walk out together,or did one parent leave before the other? The last parent to leave….did they think to look for the boy and call the other parent to see if the child was with them when they didn’t see him? WOW it amazes me how careless some parents can be.

Then you wait until Monday to go back to the resturant? Why did only one parent go? Me being a Mother would have NEVER let that happen.

How the hell do you leave your child at a restaurant alone? What was so important that you forgot? Poor kid, that was probably the worst birthday party ever for him.

This is a damn shame…people who are desperate for kids and are taking all of these extreme measures like taking fertility drugs to have kids and the ppl who dont have to do all that extra stuff are abandoning their own gift from GOD like trash. Warren is not exactly a black friendly area.The father and mother are separated or divorced, so the father thought the mother had him, and the mother thought the grandmother had him, and for two days nobody checked and the police didn’t even post to local news that there was a child found alone….I can see that you might get home and say where’s my babe but you don’t even call and ask about him for two days and it’s his birthday?? And when the news caught up with the mother and asked “do you want your child back” ? She saw walking away from the camera and said of course we want him back ! Not I love my son or he means the world to us..Her body language was very disturbing to say the least…Sad !!

So Sad. A child. Too bad they did that to him. He may not ever forget that.
I love Children I would love to raise this baby. The parents might not be able to take care of him but he just knows them as parents. He is used to them and they are his World. It is a pity.

This is just plain stupid. It’s inexcusable that you left this child in the beginning but for him to be gone for 3 days before realizing it doesn’t make any sense. These people should not get him back until they have gone through some serious counseling, pay restitution to the Child Protective Services, and do community service.
