VIDEO: 4th Grader Questions Condoleezza Rice on Torture

Days after telling students at Stanford University that waterboarding was legal “by definition if it was authorized by the president,” former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice was pressed again on the subject yesterday by a fourth-grader at a Washington school.
Then Misha Lerner, a student from Bethesda, asked: What did Rice think about the things President Obama’s administration was saying about the methods the Bush administration had used to get information from detainees?
Rice took the question in stride. saying that she was reluctant to criticize Obama, then getting to the heart of the matter.
“Let me just say that President Bush was very clear that he wanted to do everything he could to protect the country. After September 11, we wanted to protect the country,” she said. “But he was also very clear that we would do nothing, nothing, that was against the law or against our obligations internationally. So the president was only willing to authorize policies that were legal in order to protect the country.”

I’m looking at the pictures also….I can see how they would elicit sympathy and sadness. But most Americans should understand that these arent nice guys….these are the same type of men who ran two commercial planes into the twin towers. The same type of men who strap bombs onto their chests and walk onto a bus and dont care whos innocent or not when they blow it up. The same type of men who would cut an americans head without a second thought. They arent respecters of anything accept their religious belief.
I dont think a 4th grader should even know what torture is…no doubt the parents or even teacher was the one who spoonfed the child this bs. psychological torture does work (for example: playing classical music 24/7 over loudspeakers, waterboarding works, extreme isolation). I have actually helped interrogate suspected insurgents in Iraq…and I can tell you that Im against physical torture though because its hard to recoup from that…me threatening or scaring the crap out of a suspected bomb maker has no long term affects. and most methods save lifes if done right. Torture is the least that terrorists would do to us…anyone else remember nick berg? These guys dont fight fair and they dont respect the laws of war…which provide for dignity and respect to POW’s(Prisoners of War). Majority of people who condemn torture are people who have no concept of unconventional warfare…or who have never been to combat where your blown up by random bombs in the road on a daily basis.

She also loves to twist a question and reword it to confuse the person who asked it and proceed to answer it her own way. Crafty woman.
She had the pefect opportunity to say something honest here: She should have said “Rather than saying things that support America’s enemies – our new President should focus on policies and statements that make his fellow Americans feel more safe and secure. I would have thought he desired to be President, in part, to protect and defend American citizens – not terrorists whose stated goal is to harm and kill Americans!”
Lest we forget, these “detainees” that were “tortured” were not initially picked up at the local 7-Eleven buying Slurpies! If you are going to critize – at least tell the whole story, and not the part that just fits a political narrative!
But she blew it, and took the high road…and avoided questioning the questioners. Instead of offering excuses, she should have just explained her point of view clearly.
