I went to john Hay academy growing up, my gym teacher kept a paddle in the equipment closet, and threatened kids, I personally have never seen him actually hit anyone, but Ive seen him take it out. My main teacher struck me with a ruler, and theres other teachers ive run across growing up that carried punishment in that manner. But Im actually for it! Parents don’t discipline their kids and send them to school for the teachers to deal with. All in all, what r the teachers suppose to do? I don’t agree with some of the severity of course, because there’s a fine line between punishment and abuse, but i think its a great thing for overly out of line students.

It don’t matter what school you went to, nor does it matter what “discipline” people believe that they should use with children. If you don’t have the right to put your hands on a child that is not yours then don’t do it. It is ashame to know that we have teachers out here who ’til this day believe that it is alright to do so. The only reason why parents don’t put their hands on children anymore is because they don’t want to get their children taken away. What’s the difference between a total stranger putting their hands on your child and abusing them vs. a parent putting their hands on their own child?
People out of the family do not have a right to put their hands on any child that is not their’s unless they were given permission. It is something that nobody should have to deal with at all. Children should be protected regardless.

First off, no one has the right to abuse anyone but nothing is wrong with good tape on the you know what when it’s needed. I can remember when kids were respectful and for the most part mindful but of coarse that was when the community help raise the child, meaning, no matter where the child was, someone was around to correct the bad acts of the child and then took the child to the parents so they could give the child the business. We have reached a true paradox in 1n the methods of child discipline. I recall as a young man how fast my mothers no nonsense approach (with the strap) and reinforced with encouragement kept me and my 7 brothers from becoming statistics. As a father of 3 boys I applied the same discipline along with positive encouragement which also kept my sons from being swept in by the lure of the streets.

Today Social workers have come into our homes and schools and have said we can’t (hit) discipline them and even going as far as saying that yelling at your child was a form of abuse.

So what has it yielded us as a society? When a child can’t behave any longer in school they are placed in special ed or Alternative Schools. They are special indeed as they serve as nothing but holding cells for the State Prison.

A phenomenon occurred when we took discipline away from the the home which was the first line of defense:

The teachers are afraid of the principals.

Pricipals were afraid of the
Superintendednt.

Superintendents were afraid of the School Board.

School board is afraid of the parents.

Parents are afraid of the children while the children ain’t afraid of nobody!

Sad Situation ..

Where do these adults get off on hitting other people’s children? Every parent has a different form of pnishment for their children. Was the parent consent involved before abusing the children? I think not. It’s just so sad that all of those adults were not sent to jail (and for a long time, not 2 years or less for good behavior) for what they did to these children. What ever happened to teachers telling the parent(s) about a child’s misbehavior in school? I just can’t believe that some of them just got a warning or was not terminited and it being in their record. How could it have taken 70 days after thte incident has happened before anyone investigated and this was after a newsone investigated. Thank god i don’t have children yet because if i did and my child told me something like this, damn the cops and their protocal because i’ll be going to jail that day.

How could this have taken so long to investigate (70 days after the child reported abuse by a school official(s))?
Who are they to use their own form of punishment (abuse) on a child; every parent has their own form of punishment for their child if they misbehave. What ever happened to just telling the parent(s) that the child misbehaved in school. How can these school officials not be sent to jail and only a handful are terminated or given a warning, are you serious!?
Thank god i don’t have a child yet because if i did and my child told me something like that, i’ll be on the news in handcuffs. I refuse to wait on the cops and their protocals!

Ok I usually never post anything but this story got under my skin and I just have to add my rant to this post. As a parent myself I don’t even know where to begin on how outrageous this is and how upset hearing about this made me. Just as many of the other posters I would have been in jail right now. I don’t understand how this school system still has all these employee’s there, there has been 818 cases filed in 7 years! And out of those 818 cases 568 of them were determined that the child was telling the truth! For God’s sake one child even got a fractured neck, what is the next step? What else has to happen to these poor children for someone to put a stop to that school systems abuse? I as a parent and one who has worked with children know that they can be quite a handful at times especially a class room full of children BUT that is not an excuse to put your hands on a child in any way! Their job is to teach, keep the children safe, not to abuse them! If they could not handle that line of work and to work with children then they do not belong working in a school system! And its obvious that what they did to these children they definitely need a new career that doesn’t deal with children ( or the elderly for that matter)! Further more what gets me even more is how they are getting away it, only 24!!!!! were terminated!!!! One even abused children for years and only got a WARNING???? And it took 70 days to get to that poor child and investigate his case??? WHY??? It doesn’t matter whether they believed this one child or not, the fact of this is that there was another allegation made by another child and after the hundreds of cases they have had against this one school and hundreds of cases found that it did happen it should not take that long to investigate such a horrific thing. And how in the world did the CCEC after 7 years, 818 cases filed, and 568 found the children were telling the truth NOT KNOW?????? That many cases and it doesn’t pop up on very high radar?????? I don’t believe for one second that they didn’t know about any of this, all they are trying to do now is cover them selves now that they been once again put on the spot light! However due to the amount of cases and the amount of negligence and years that this has been happening I am going to be surprised if it actually gets fully taken care of before another case is filed or another child gets seriously hurt or worse. Every one of those parents that their child(ren) have been abused or witnessed an abuse happen should bring personal charges to each and everyone of those so called “school officials” and everyone should pull their children out of that school just for their child(s) safety because God only what is next and in store for those poor children! A school is supposed to be a place for learning and a child is supposed to feel safe at school. I pray and hope that everyone of those so called “school officials” that had part in any kind of abuse towards any child are terminated and banned from ever working with children again. Now they say that they are going to go through each one of those 818 cases again and re-look at them, but yet they didn’t say wether or not if each and everyone of these cases that were filed if those that were accused of abuse of any sort, were going to be suspended from their jobs until it is resolved and they are found guilty or not or if they are going to still be able to continue working with these children???? Ok I better stop because now I need to calm myself down and step away I can go on forever about this and this has gotten me so angry on what these people are doing and they have been getting away with it! I would be outraged….but we have to understand that most of the children are in classrooms that can sometimes get out of control…I went to CPS and I can tell you that some of those kids are bad as hell…..Parents have a responsibility as well as the teachers to make sure that their children behave in school. Teachers should be retrained to deal with problem kids. My cousins kids still attend CPS and she often complains of there being too many kids in the classroom so she volunteers her free time in helping the teachers out in the classroom. Instead of b***hing and moaning lets get in there and give a hand to those teachers who are underpaid and stressed out from dealing with kids that don’t mind their parents at home. If we are their seeing whats going on, the abuse will stop. This is really messed up…how these staff members were f**kin up the kids…my question is what type of parents were allowing this s**t to go on as long as it did…there would be no way in hell.. that a muthaf**ka would walk out of that school the same way they walk in…cuz if someone put they hands on one of my kids every staff member in that b***h would get f**ked up on sight…for real!!My whole fam would be down that muthaf**ka f**kin muthaf**kas up..this don’t make no sense…parents can’t put they hands on their own kids cuz they could go to jail…but they allow school personnel to hit them…if my kids show they ass Imma be the one to whoop they ass..

I would be mad if something like that happened to my child (if I had one) or my sibling that are still in school. I would question my child/siblings first because I do not think that a teacher would just do something for no reason at all but in some cases, they do. I have worked as a substitute teacher at an alternative school and let me tell you some of these kids are out of control but they have ways of handling the situation so that the student and the teacher doesn’t get hurt in the process. I think that some of the reasons that these teacher are fighting back is because now students are getting bold and fighting the teacher. Teachers are not daytime baby sitters they are there to teach! Parents have to be more involved at school and communicate with the teachers and know what is going on with their kids. My siblings cannot even breathe to hard the wrong way because my mom would know about when they got home. That is because she says in touch with the teacher and having to work is not an excuse, most teacher will work with you and around your time. All I have to say is that I think that teachers are not the only ones at fault.
