President Barack Obama will name Mignon Clyburn as a commissioner to the Federal Communications Commission according to the White House. She is the daughter of House majority whip, Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina.
Clyburn was the publisher and manager of the The Coastal Times, a weekly newspaper in Charleston and was a member of the South Carolina Public Service Commission.
The FCC is in charge of regulating television, radio, satellite, cable, and telegraph communications in the US.
