First of all, you all need to know, in most places, it is ILLEGAL to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk. Sidewalks are for PEDESTRIANS, roads are meant to be shared by motor vehicles AND bicycles. So, she was infact breaking the law. On top of that, we aren’t shown the full video. If she did have a warrent, then she would need to be arrested for that, then we don’t know if she was resisting arrest. I don’t understand why the police would “take someone in” for riding their bike on the sidewalk, it is an offense just like speeding and they issue a ticket. from the video he was the aggressor from the beginning. The cop approached her and grabbed her never haven followed police procedure and she never reacted to him aggressively until he tried to use Mace on her, we have the responsibility to cooperate with the police but we have the right to defend ourselves against an attacker, in this case the attacker was a cop.

If you looked at Television last night, they aired a mostly black movie by the name of “Honeydripper” that stared both Danny Glover and Roc. Stacey Keech was the sheriff.
In that movie a young black man was walking down a dirt road that no one else was on, other than the sheriff,that is, and the sheriff called him over to ask what he was doing down there. Hey told the sheriff that he was on his way looking for work because he’d just gotten into town and had by chance stopped into the local (Danny’s)
club and was told there was no work, and was continuing on.
Well the sheriff told him to get in the car, that he had some work he could do. Well, the work was at a cotton field owned by the judge and people were falsely arrested by the sheriff in order to get the fields picked for the judge! Meaning, that bike riding incident corresponded with the movie so that if you were watching, in essence, the way they did things then were still rooted in some of the sheriff and judges offsprings and spued out with the camera rolling on the cruiser, (non intentionally of course) but non the less for sure. If you think that it’s not still there, you fool yourself was the motions of the officer(s), and it really didn’t occur to them that that same action would cause a reaction due to civil rights in todays society!
So what’s the fuss and feeling like you need to cuss will not benefit us, rather be aware that some of them are still feeling the same way their ancestors did and time doesn’t necessarily heal all wounds, it instead opens new (knew!) ones.

The problem I have (yes, I’m a legal beagle) is that the penalty for riding your bike on the sidewalk in Pennsylvania is a $10 fine (Pennsylvania Vehicle Code Section 3502). So in essence, she should not have been detained and merely written a citation and allowed to continue riding in the street. The governor can commute any sentence, but only the appeals court can reverse her wrongful conviction. I can’t understand punching a woman four or five times while handcuffed, it’s enough to remind me of a local youth Oscar Grant, except that Mr. Grant paid the ultimate price for an inexperienced police officer.

What I can’t believe, the cameras caught everything and they still wanted to say it is bogus. This is sad. What is really going in the United States? I have looked at 4 police brutality videos! Three of which were Seattle cops against TEENS! What is really going on, I honestly wish that I never had to come and live in the United States again. While I will be the first to admit our teenagers are out of control, but seriously is this the answer…to give male adults licenses to carry weapons and beat our teenagers up when they want? And then they are doing it to female teenagers which is ten times worse. So are they abusing their spouses and kids in the privacy of their homes? Our system has gone too far and is failing miserably! So sad!

I have ridden my bike on sidewalks for years ! Always move over for those walking and you have no problems or complaints. Cops always mess with people when they are bored.

Depending on the crime, I think there has to be some common sense changes. For example, did they have the wrong person when they initially searched and found the drugs on the man? Yes. But should the fact that by accident they discovered the person had drugs on them negate that person needing to face up for the crime of drug possession anyway? No. That one mistake on the officer’s part and his subsequent jail time quite possibly saved someone’s life, even his own.
