I recently came from Houston and I live in Louisiana and was pulled over by the state troopers in Nacogdoches. Then later by the Teneha marshalls, then finally in Corrigan. They all searched my vehicle for “drugs” and found nothing. I got a ticket for so called “speeding” in Teneha, and was then on my way. I must say after reading this I had to post what happened to me. Its a conspiracy along that Highway and unfortunately I have no plans on returning to that area anytime soon becuase of that. I HATE TEXAS!

Somone needs to be sued, this is uncalled for.

If this is true and any person that has had their property seized and are not involved in any illegal activity, why have they not contacted the Attorney General to have this town investigated? The TX A.G. Greg Abbott (friend of a former (black) friend) would not tolerate anything like this in Texas if he was aware of it. Ok, here is some advice. I haved lived in the state of Texas for over 25 years. My relatives come from KKK infested towns such as Koontz, Silsbee, Vidor, Jasper and Newton. My grandfathers paper mill was burned down by the KKK because he hired some black men to work in the mill. I have dated only black men for the past 20 years. I’ve seen both sides of the racism issue.

HERE’S THE ADVICE: If you have to travel through Texas, if you can avoid the small towns, do it. Use only the major freeways, it might take more time, but better than losing your $$$, car, belongings or worse yet, your life. If you do have to travel through any small towns, don’t stop for any reason short of death. Stock up on water, food, whatever, in a major city. Do NOT travel at night. Travel in the daytime and blend in with traffic. Don’t speed and don’t do anything that brings attention to yourself, like bumping the tunes so loud to where they can hear you in the next county. If you do get pulled over, just be as polite as possible. Don’t give the cops any attitude or any reason to harass you. Majority of the time, if given the opportunity, they will take it. Make sure your friends and family know your destination. If you do get arrested for “any” reason, IF you get that 1 phone call, you sure as hell had better call someone you can trust that can get you contact to the outside world. If the arrest was bogus, make sure it’s someone who can contact the proper people at the state level. Any local law enforcement is subject to state government. Have your friends get the ACLU, NAACP, or the media involved, whatever it takes. Small towns use traffic stops as their main source of income. The “out-of-towners” are THE main target.

I’m not one to spread fear, but I’m also a realist. I know what happens here in Texas. I have heard the stories from friends and family that live in those areas. People CAN disappear. People DO disappear. People still get “strung-up” in small towns down here in Texas. Don’t think that James Byrd is an isolated incident. They were just stupid enough to open their mouths. That’s why they got caught. So be smart when you travel. You can cuss the cops out all you want in your mind, but out of your mouth should only come, “Yes sir” and “No sir”. I’m not saying to be subservient, I’m just saying to be smart if you ever get into a situation such as this.

An outrage. Kind of crazy; I saw this on the news here. It’s basically two officers who are doing this activity in that particular village, but it’s also a fairly common practice in South Texas. They do it to pay for their own salaries. What gets me is the fact they would even resort to this method to raise money and consider it legitimate. I hope they force that municipality into bankruptcy. By the way, it doesn’t seem to be stopping the drug trade at all.

They are using the method of forcing people to come back to the area just to fight their court case. I wonder if anyone has really challenged this county on this particular abuse of power?

I think everyone has gotten way off base from the topic at hand. The problem that I have is how is it that this town and probably hundreds of others like it, can get away with this? Please don’t tell me that everyone that has been victimized in this story has not reported what they went through to the proper authorities.

I have to comment on a few things here because I can’t just let them go. There have been a few that have posted, “If you know your rights….”. That is all well and good until you are caught in a small town, at gun point by the police who run the town. I would seriously like to see someone try and argue with an officer that has a gun pointed at their head that the officer doesn’t have probable cause. ANYTHING can be deemed probable cause in a court of law. A court, by the way, that would be held, most likely, in the county of the offending town. The judge probably being “Bubba’s” brother-n-law. The only way you would probably be able to fight this is to take it to a higher court. That is if you come out alive after having argued with the police officer over the fact if he had probable cause or not.

Remember, in small towns, they probably don’t have the mounted cams in the police cars and the police officer can say that he was in fear of his life, thus he had to shoot you dead. Come on people, think. This is not LA or Dallas Or NY, etc. These are small towns that are run by corrupt individuals WHO RUN THE TOWN. They can get away with anything at that specific time when it’s taking place.

To those that have posted about only blacks being the drug dealers. Dude, come on. What world are you living in? I worked at a homeless shelter for 2 years, trust me 99.99999% off the residents there sold drugs. Crack, meth, marijuana, whatever. They ALL sold it. And guess what? They all were not black. They were White, Latino, Black, Asian, whatever. So, my point being, in that little 2 block world, if every color sold drugs, guess what the rest of the world is like. Come on now.
