RUSS LIMBAUGH AND DICK CHENEY ARE 2 OF THE BIGGEST IDIOTS TO EVER WALK THIS EARTH. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE LISTEN TO EITHER ONE OF THEIR DUMB ASSES. STOP GIVING THEM ATTENTION THEN MAYBE THEY WILL BOTH FIND A REAL HOLE TO CLIMB IN THAT THEY CAN’T CLIMB OUT OF.

It’s about ratings…he has done it for years..yes stop giving that idiot the time of day…instead of working against the president, you should constructively criticize and stop this dumb extreme partisan mudslinging just because you lost and lost badly in congress and the white house…this is the reason why…mudslinging just doesn’t work anymore…show me what you can do instead of trying to disrespect everything the dominant party does. Pitiful..grow up…you aren’t 10 anymore.

Wow, I am quickly discovering that BLACK PLANET is a biased media that promotes racial bigotry from the black perspective! Yes, I’m BLACK… have been over 43 years. The masses of blacks in America (notice I didn’t refer to us as “African American)are NOT well informed and even oblivious to the agenda of our neo-socialist elected officials from the top down. Now, I deeply admire Mr. Colin Powell as I served as one of his many Soldiers, and even more of his stature as having served as the USSECSTATE, however, he too has seem to have lost touch with what the original founding fathers and framers of our great and now “declining” nation was ment to be. I strongly urge each of you who read this posting to NOT simply follow the other sheep to slaughter, rather, do your research, ask the hard questions, develop your [own] conclusions to our situation. Remember, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything, e.g. your democratic and republican officials who are leading our nation to bankruptcy and ruin over the Obama spending (which amounts to more than ALL of the U.S. presidents in history combined spent – done so in only 120 days… we have been a nation over 200 years). I simply observe that anyone speaking out against the smooth-talking Obama with their own opinion will be chidded. I think this to be in total contrast when [Obama] supporters can raise him above GOD and worship him as the coming savior say good things and the non supporters have no say… their goes your First Ammendment right a.k.a. “FREE SPEECH”. Thomas Jefferson said that “those who prefer security over liberty loses one and deserves neither”.

The country needed Colin Powell to balance out the Bush administration, he was the rational Republican, but just as they did with the rest of the country, the administration drew the line in the sand and divided cabinet wit the us vs them. Im frightened just by the thought of what Limbaugh would be doing right now if he was president.

I just knew I was not alone.

I have been reading “news stories” on Blackplanet for some time now, and have LONG noted the leftward slant of just about every news article or essay. But I just knew that there had to be some black people out there who see the world as I do – black people who understand history, and who appreciate that actions have concequences…

And now, at long last, my thoughts have been rightly confirmed! :-)

I am a veteran, and I also had the honor to serve with General Powell. I think he is a man of honor, integrity and duty. I also think that if he would have had the courage to run for the Presidency in 1996 or 2000 on the Republican ticket, I firmly believe he would have been our first black president.

Yep – I said it. Courage. I said he lacks it. Why did I say it?

While he was in the military, Powell led by example. He led from the front, and blazed a new trail for all of his troops to follow – irrespeective of color or cultural background. In uniform, he was a man to be admired – but what kind of Republican is he?

- He is the Republican who endorces a Democrat for the job he SHOULD have had 12 years ago.
- He is the Republican who appears to care more about being a media darling than defending his own party.
- He is the Republican who avoids running for political office, yet continues to speak as though he is an elected official.

I actually agree with Cheney and Limbaugh – Powell should formally leave the Republican Party, and declare himself a Democrat. And I would add, he should then find himself a blue state, and run for Gov – or a seat in the Senate. In another 4-6 years, he’ll be in line to make his own White House run – for the first time. Even after switching parties, he would have all kinds of support from veterans like myself.

BUT HE WONT DO THAT. Because switching parties takes courage – and he has already proved he does not have the guts to run for office himself.

Instead Powell offers advice and opinions that provide direct aid and comfort to those outside the Republican Party. He offers only criticism for members of the Republican party. And he saves his scorn for elected Republicans (and Talk Show hosts): People who have the courage to be in the public eye every day – who put their convictions on the table for all to see.

Nowadays Powell wants to lead from the background…where its safe. He no longer has the courage to lead from the front and blaze a trail for all of us Americans to follow. Only the Media keeps cowards like Powell relevant – most Republicans have taken his measure and found him lacking. Cheney and Limbaugh are only echoing what a lot of Republicans think about Powell today.

I am glad that Cheney and Limbaugh have the courage to speak their minds. Powell could learn a lesson from those two. And so could most of the newswriters at NewsOne.

ooooooweeeeeee dang bro the way U wrote that Powell articale one would almost think u didn’t like Powell. U did bring up some grand points about one of up on to Obamas time the most infulentcal Blackmen since mabey Ron Brown or Jessie Jackson. Okay Man of lesiure what would U recommend for a late 60 or early seventy yr old exmiltary 4 star black general to do since his polictal carrier is really up and he is more than likey a great grand father you got to realize there are different areas of black men still living in this country. So the thinking and actions that sone of these brothers have taken throw life are not ways that might have or would be ways that u would or me take. But ! I new u was waiting on this this have the knowelege to tell, point, and make positive suggestion to a young brother like Obama to help him navigate from all their worldy expirence this prosess of try to live in the United snakes of America when we are try to gain some signifagance or stacher in this world wheather polically or economicaly I all so felt He sould have run years ago but Maybe it wasn’t the right time or sisution for Brother general Powell to try and obitain the tougest job in the world (u know the lord works in mysterious ways ok ), So general Powell now to let the world know he’s still here and going to be working for a new style polical party that through the past decade have robed,err-raped and pilage the usa ok, they should be glad that he even wants to be still in association with them if even by name just a party (polical) name so get with me if u want to rebuttal this cause it goes a lot deeper than the little bit we harping on now.

I have to agree with Alpha111906 that constructive criticism is more effective than mudslinging. That’s what our Founding Fathers did, because they did not agree on every issue and item but compromised to create our Constitution and other doc**ents. For far too long the politics in this country has become too polarized without individuality. Either you agree with EVERYTHING one party says, or you switch to the other; the political leaders nowadays want puppets and yes-men, not free thinkers.

I deeply admire Colin Powell!! My entry wasn’t meant to be demeaning of him nor his character as he shead blood for our country. All I am saying is that [my] opinion is but one of millions of opinions here in America. I sincerely respect Powell because I know his back ground; yes, I know of the man from a professional military perspective. I am still serving in the Army after 25 years and clearly understand the ramifications of keeping the honor of the Office of The President of The United States as well as elected and appointed officials. None the less, I too am a voting citezen expressing my priviledge to vote while in keeping with good discipline IAW Army Regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice as I swore an oath to serve our nation and Army. I respect each posting and opinion expressed regardless of how well (or not) the posting(s) are thought out. In the end, Americans will unite.
