Ex-KKK Member Apologizes To John Lewis

Former Klansman Elwin Wilson apologized for beating Congressman, John Lewis and a group of black college students who were attacked by an angry white mob at a Rock Hill, S.C. bus depot.

i disagree with the panel. It is a huge start that he even apologized for what he did. His apology may not change the world but at least he was one person who apologized. It doesn’t matter how long it took him to apologize I’m glad it was done. the white woman who accused emmette til of whistling at her never apologized for what her b.f/husband did to that little boy.

I didn’t even finish watching that clip because it’s total BS in if you ask me. When people are really sorry they apologize as quickly as possible, mabye a day or 2, mabye even a week later. But to say your sorry 50 years later c’mon now, what type of ish is that? I probably would believe him if he apologized privately to Lewis, but to do it in the news seems like the usual propaganda (BS) the media wants us to believe, so I don’t believe him.
it was funny the 1st time i saw it cuz the reporter asked if he felt bad for helping to beat him and dude said no there was no help i beat him…But i am glad he came to reality and apologized

Hope springs eternal! The ability to forgive those who have wronged you is mighty powerful. I met John Lewis when i interned as a congressional aid for then Rep. Ronald V. Dellums (now Mayor of the city of Oakland) and I can tell anyone this.. Rep. Lewis is a gracious humble soldier in the struggle for racial justice. he is a shining example to all, especially to young brothers and sisters.

I don’t think it matters why it took him so long to apologize to Mr Lewis. The fact is that he apologize for what he did to him years ago, and also been that his the first to do will hopefully make a big example that other like him can change. It may take another 50 years or not but it still good a thing.
You shouldn’t ever forget… so it never happens again. I think he is brave to face his past ignorance and own up to who he used to be. It can’t be easy. Forgiveness is part of the package to illiminate the anger and hate that fuels racism. Also not easy. Both men are to be admired for their acts today.
PEOPLE CAN CHANGE, BUT WHY APOLOGIZE NOW? WHAT TOOK HIM SO LONG? YOU CAN FORGIVE, BUT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET.
