Canadian Willie O’ree was actually the first black man to play in the NHL. He he has been cited as the “Jackie Robinson of hockey”. O’ree made his NHL debut with the Bruins on January 18, 1958. It’s uncanny that Grant Fuhr was drafted on the same day. Also, Inauguration day solidfied that black people will contiue to overcome. I’m not American but I share the same pride and joy that my American brothers and sisters felt on January 20th 2009. Bless.
