DALLAS — The vice president of the Former Majority Association for Equality awarded a $500 “whites only” scholarship to 27-year-old Brendan Baird — and it was awarded by Marcus Carter, a Black man.

Carter said he joined the group because he served two tours of duty in Iraq and thinks awarding college scholarships to anyone is beneficial to everyone.

“I can’t really say I understand where they’re coming from, being only 27 years old, I don’t feel racially oppressed,” Carter said in reference to African-Americans who may feel victimized by racial prejudice.

WFAA Reports:

Their organization has received more than $18,000 in donations. The two said they wouldn’t reveal their biggest donors.

The FMAFE was granted 501(c)3 status this month and has yet to file a Form 990,  a public document detailing the group’s finances, with the IRS.

Baird’s scholarship is one of five the FMAFE is handing out nationwide. The organization is awarding them in Long Beach, California; Columbus, Ohio and Miami Beach, Florida in the coming week.
