When Aisatou Toure met R&B star Mary J. Blige, they had a heart-to-heart talk about the importance of self-esteem and confidence — two qualities the Harlem teen seeks to encourage in the younger students she mentors.
Aisatou, 16, who is a junior this year at the School of the Future HS, regularly returns to her middle school, KIPP: Star College Prep Charter, where she organizes other alumni to mentor students, tutors those who are struggling academically, helps teachers create extracurricular events like dance and theater, and encourages students to strive for college.

“She’s one of the young ladies that stand out,” said FFAWN’s Mari Moss-Yawn, who nominated Aisatou for a Liberty Medal in the Young Heart category.
Aisatou hopes to go to Africa and help out in impoverished villages where the “people have no clothes and no schools.”
Ultimately, she plans to become a forensic scientist.

this is what can happens when good parents do what they have too and stick and stay in that childs life..if u watch the jews raised the kids they have they make sure they enact education and excell.. what iamsaying has nothing to do with race.. what iam saying is kids are not going to be any thing if the parents dont prepare for them what they are to be.. second the kids have to listen and take heed to what is taught as far as doing whats right is concerned not rebel not act out . just listen and learn…. so what iam saying is it takes hard work and hard effort. it takes team work…..

@ Angelface_2323 Please! Do not fool yourself about your 4 year old not understanding anything you teaches or tell her. Of course! She understands you clearly, all you have to do is communicate it to her and she will catch on. Perfect practice, makes perfect.
