GOOD NEWS: Howard’s 14-Year-Old Sophomore Wants Obama’s Job

As the school year gets under way at Howard University, one of the new faces on campus already has done enough work to rise to sophomore standing. And he’s only 14 years old.

“To me it’s just normal, you know,” Ty Hobson-Powell said. “I’m just in a different environment. Couple of older kids, but it‘s nothing different.”

The D.C. teen is Howard’s youngest student, having completed his high school requirements in just two years.  His Howard classmates are shocked by his age and accomplishments, but many said they admire that and respect Ty for it.

He’s living among them in a campus dorm so he doesn’t miss out on too much of the college experience before he moves on to his career dreams.

“I wouldn’t knock down the offer to be president, like Barack Obama,” he said.

    Thats great…we need more future presidents, just keep your nose clean ty…watch who you associate with so that you dont go through the same critcism that President Obama went through in order to become president.

    that good to here a young black man knowing what he want to be and doing it living his dream i respect him for that and wish the best to him i would love to see more of the young men and women doing that over here in Houston cause u have some out there killing doing drugs and whateva other bad stuff u can name just wish they could see this and see what they missing out on so Ty just keep it up man much love to u and ya family

    Damn, that’s excellent! I wish I’d known that I could’ve got out of hs 2 yrs early..I don’t think they started making that happen as an option for teens til I was like a junior. This option should be made to those that want to drop out at 16.

    That Is So Great I Have A 4 year old son.Whom just started school I will be so proud to find my child advance just like Ty. Ty is and example and a young man that I want my son to look to one day. Maybe today. Ty must have wonderful parents.
