New York — Nearly 200 New Yorkers turned up Saturday to see if they could help a teenage track star win a race for her life against a fatal blood disorder.

Ahtyana Johnson, a 17-year-old Cardozo High School senior, is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant, but a match can be extremely hard to find.

That’s why volunteers held a donor drive at Majority Baptist Church in Jamaica, Queens, where concerned citizens had their cheeks swabbed for tissue samples to see if they could be Johnson’s genetic savior.
