JUST CURIOUS: Can Facebook Save You From Going To Jail?

From the NY Times:
Where’s my pancakes, read Rodney Bradford’s Facebook page, in a message typed on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11:49 a.m., from a computer in his father’s apartment in Harlem.
At the time, the sentence, written in indecipherable street slang, was just another navel-gazing, cryptic Facebook status update — words that were gobbledygook to anyone besides Mr. Bradford.
But when Mr. Bradford, a skinny, short 19-year-old resident of the Farragut Houses, was arrested the next day as a suspect in a robbery, the words took on a level of importance that no one in their wildest dreams — least of all Mr. Bradford — could have imagined. They became his alibi.
His defense lawyer, Robert Reuland, told a Brooklyn assistant district attorney, Lindsay Gerdes, about the Facebook entry, which was made at the time of the robbery. The district attorney subpoenaed Facebook to verify that the status update had actually been typed from a computer located at 71 West 118th Street in Harlem, as Mr. Bradford said. When that was confirmed, the charges were dropped.

Facebook to the rescuse not only can we save you from jail but we can get you a date too woo woo…
Anyway good for the young man one less innocent brother in the system
All I can say is…. Sue the City! get that money! Discrimination! False arrest! and many other reasons. You ppl better wake up on these articles! We will always be picked on in this matter until we start slapping Amerikkka in the face with justice! Stop acting like b***hes and stand up for yourselves!
I can’t stomach how some of you don’t see there was a problem with this whole story? You see the situation in plain sight and are too stupid just going-along to get-along in this country! (which is always us doing the going-along)
Does one of you have any clue that we can live in this country and be respected at the same time? Well, obviously not, but I’m telling you it can happen if you start standing up for yourselves and each other…
Anyone who lived in that apartment could have had his password and typed that on his facebook page. Now if someone actually saw him on the computer at that residence, then that would be another story.
GUESS I BETTER GO UPDATE MY STATUS. LOL
Apparently it can.
I’ll be waiting to hear the news about rising numbers of people trying to use their Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. updates as an alibi because of this.
NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALL A GOOD LAWYER WORTH THE MONEY.THERES GOING BE MORE BUSINESS FOR HIM AFTER THIS ONE.
Sheesh. He could have had a buddy of his type that in for him.
Looks like Facebook is good for something after all!
wow…that’s crazy!
