I think the focus should be on jobs. People with jobs will have the money to purchase medical insurance. We are strong black people, that phrase is thrown out often, so we are strong enough to get out there, work, earn money, and purchase medical insurance. This isn’t about race, there are poor people of all races in the U.S. The government isn’t plotting against us. We the government was against us, we wouldn’t have a black president. I worked hard to get to this point in life and I do not want to give up my money to pay for someone else who does not want to work for theirs.

If we are being honest with ourselves, our government was initially implemented for the sole interest of white people. Now our government is no longer a “government for ALL people, by the people.” It is NOW a government “for the [generational, mostly] haves to keep the have nots from having.” Stop the bullchit lies, this country was predicated on the bourgeosis being served by the proletariat. And this form of “slavery,” exists, to date. Pharmaceutical companies “buy” politicians and lobbyists and keep them in their pocket to keep YOU from receiving adequate health-care. Remember, we live in a culture that does not totally embrace “preventive” health-care. Pharmaceutical companies benefit when you’re sick and not when you have an optimal state of health.

I have been on both sides of the coin. However, what people fail to realize is, WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR THIS? People are quick to say rich people or well off people should pay etc etc. You know what, I am not rich nor have i broken the 6 figure range. Yet, I am paying over 20% of my check (even with 2 dependents) in federal taxes alone. We are borrowing money from China to fund socialist programs and send money right back out to the Middle East. Further, has anyone ever read this 1000 page bill? Among other things, it says that this “insurance” does not have to pay for things a committee say are unnecessary. So, breast mammograms, pap smears. . .unnecessary on a yearly basis. The committees that made these recommendations don’t even have cancer specialists on it! Healthcare is already in the process of being rationed through this “free” insurance.

All we as the people are hearing is free insurance. So basically, either I have to pay 13% more in taxes every month to pay for a program I can’t even participate in or pay 13% more in taxes to pay for an insurance program that does not provide me the same level of care as my current insurance. If this insurance is so great, then why aren’t politicians saying that they will give up their current insurance for it? In exchange for free insurance, you give up quality care and a significant portion of your check. Instead of pushing a bill that we can’t even afford, why don’t regulate healthcare? Why don’t we subsidize more free clinics? Offer more of a tax refund on insurance premiums paid out? Provide free prescriptions? Or how about this, require insurance programs to offer insurance to people with preexisting conditions or putting money into wellness programs so illnesses can be caught early enough to not need expensive treatment?

Further, to say that it is racist not to agree with this bill is just plain ignorance. African Americans only make up 12% of the population. Hispanics make up 15% and whites 60%. We do not make up the majority of people on welfare rolls nor would we make up the majority of people who would use this free insurance.

If u can honestly say u think big insurance should continue 2 hike up their prices and determine eligibility based on their dollar signs only, then u w/oppose healthcare reform. If u care about anyone other than ur (assumingly rich or at least superbly insured) self, then u w/b for healthcare reform with the public option. Tho I’m insured I w/much rather prevent rising costs while executives in insurance get richer and richer – of course they make enuff money off our asses 2 not ever have 2 worry about the need 4 healthcare and they have been pumping millions upon millions n2 the fight against them discontinuing 2 make millions and millions more. Black ppl traditionally look out 4 other ppl and we do have a black president – some ppl want 2 think it’s not about race but if u go behind the scenes the only ppl believing that r n denial. It is always about race. When things historically have affected more whites, changes came much swifter and completely. When it’s predominantly affecting blacks u find feet dragging, reluctance, excuses, etc. So while it’s a race issue I dont think necessarily ppl opposing the reform r racist. Plus all these uppity insured ppl w/b sorry they voted it down should their company downsize. Have u ever checked the price of COBRA 4 a single person (no kids, no spouse)? Plus costs of visits or prescriptions or god 4bid anything more serious? Know anyone on medicare (even part D)? These ppl r choosing between survival and basic needs like food, shelter and utilities. Some ppl don’t care or have a heart 4 that – that doesn’t make them racist it just makes them selfish and cold.

I’m not for the healthcare reform, that being proposed by the current administration. For a few reasons. The biggest one is who will actually pay for it. No one has clearly defined how it will paid for. The fact they never explained how the enormous $787 billion dollar bailout is getting funded really irks me. We all know that wil be paid for by our children and grandchildren.

Now this whole public option thing is what scares me. I have insurance and it takes me waiting in my own doctor’s office up 3-4 hours out of my day just or a simple checkup. So you can’t tell me that doctor’s offices and ER’s around this country won’t get overloaded by the rush of people wanting to see a doctor since they have never seen one before. And it’s going to limit the amoput of time you can seeyour doctor and for what reason. Not to mention his grand idea of wanting all of your personal info when filling out for insurnance. Just another move by the New World Order that he and the President’s before him have been moving the nation toward.

the reality is America cannot sustain itself like the progressive economies of places like Sweden and the Netherlands, America wastes too much on coddling rich people and Americans are opposed to paying social serivces taxes. Many Germans have money taken out of their yearly salary to pay back the Jews.

The truth is if America wants to be truly integrated into the “global” economy they so love to push…then reforms must be made.

i believe that there is a need for health care reform in this country. there are too many people without healthcare coverage in this country, and most of those people are black. in europe and canada the government offers healthcare to all citizens, and it should be done here

So lets put it this way if this health care passes and your working you will paying for your company health care plus being taxed for someone else.If you think this is good then lets say you win $1 million in the lottery,do you think its fair for the government to tell you that you to equally share that with all your neighbors? I am for a universal health care system. If it is considered to be the text book definition of Socialism then I guess I may be wrong. An entire Union has a universal health care system. Europe is more developed being that people have a place to go when they are sick. I think we need to set aside our own personal venues and consider others.

Rather if it is congress or senate who are attaching riders on the bill that would force this nation to collapse, or if it is someone who has health care already and would not have to worry if they are their families get sick and need help. I would like to see a clean universal health care system that helps people.

Frankly I think not trying to help is something harming this nations future. I do not have the nerve to g to a parent in the hospital and say I am sorry your child has to die, there is no help and we only accept people with insurance. I cannot go to that person who broke their leg at work and say I am sorry your credit is going to get worse because you do not have anyone we can bill.

Let us keep America as the number one superpower in the world and educate and provide care for the people in this nation.

I support Obama’s healthcare plan. It’s so sad to think about the number of people who can’t afford to go to the doctor and get medicine and yearly checkups when they need it. The people opposed to this new plan probably have healthcare so they don’t understand what it’s like to work all day long, and live paycheck to paycheck, and your job doesn’t even offer any kind of medical insurance. And to answer the question, no I don’t think it is racist to oppose this new healthcare plan. I just think it is so sad and I think some people just don’t really understand why America needs a healthcare reform.

We already have government run health care programs. They are called MediCare and Medicaid. The problems the majority of Americans haven’t fully taken of advantage of what they offer. I have sister who is pediatrician and a cousin who is a RN and they can tell the average person doesn’t try to use these programs to their advantage. They already offer doctors that you can choose from and they will pay for visits also. Why is this administration trying to reinvent the wheel…the correct and improve the current systems, and educate the country on how to use them

As so many say, “Why can’t we have the insurance that Government Officials have had down thru the years?” Everyone should have the best of care. It is so easy to complain when you have it all. Why should there be a bunch of dead people filling the cemeteries, when we can help save lives. After a while you’ll hear, “We don’t have anywhere to bury people.” People should be given care as long as possible. The government is complaning about the health-care because they have insurance, and realy don’t care whether we as people have it or not. We also have a few well-to-do individuals that don’t care whether people have care or not. Insurance has spun out of control. Everyone should see the doc**entary called “Sicko”. See “Sicko”. Why isn’t our country being developed in this manner. Eventually we will destroy ourselves thru the selfishness we possess. There are still people who can’t afford their medication, and care because both are so expensive. Programs can be available, but if they have spunned out-of-control with ridiculous charges, pooey. What do we want everyone to die from poor health, so only the rich and well to do live? Then there is another problem; no jobs, cemeteries full, only those that deal with the deceased will profit.

You wanna know about Govt run healthcare? Ask the Native Americans, and see if you still want the government any where near your healthcare. Not to mention we can’t afford it, and it won’t be universal, as 24 million Americans won’t be covered.

Her daughter gets sick and need long term healthcare treatment.Well, too bad, so sad. with todays halthcare system that mother will not be able to choose the best doctors for her daughter because she does not have the coverage she need to get the best care outside of the local county clinic.Chances are, God forbid she would not survive a life threatning illness. ever wonder why so many African Americans die from diabeties,high blood pressure, breast cancer etc. Take a wild guess.

I’ve tried, and for the sake of argument, i cannot think of any other reason why someone would oppose quality healthcare for a poor black family in the bronx or for that matter a poor white family in the back woods of Alabama, besides the fact that a majority of the poor in American society has been black since reconstruction, and is still black in today’s society. It’s long overdue for America to atleast make a hald a$$# attempt to correct the atrocities for the backlash from slavery and rconstruction that left freed slaves running around the country with nothing but the rags on their backs.
