There is a difference between being an a$$hole and being a racist. Had he called Michelle a monkey or some other deragatory(sp)comment. Dude isn’t relevant at all and he using the first lady to get sum much needed attention in which (ya’ll) gave it to him.

Well for starters there is not enough for us to know whether he is a racist. And having a picture of an ethnic confused black woman with fake indian hair does not help his case at all. Is he a racist? No. But he is definitely a jackass lol.

this will be my final response but i believe “Mr. NanaStroker” deserves some recognition for his unfailing and unending criticisms of our site and our writers. the beauty of democracy is its ability to generate useful dialogue about issues that matter. so i have no hate for him, califemme or any other actively engaged member of this community. you guys make our jobs relevant.

but we mustn’t forget that sites like ours exist to serve the audience that make this a regular stop on their daily news grind. and we like to keep feeding you what you show us you like by clicking on it. the most fascinating thing about this “activism” on the part of califemme and yourself is how INfrequently either of you comment on our stories of actual substance. to be sure, we do a decent job of covering important hard news stories of significance to this community. and yet, those are our poorest performing.

I think that it depends on the tone of the comment. If it has a racist slant to it,you can’t deny that it is what it is! Naturally this is not always the case. Now I have heard more than a few times that Scott Baio was racist, and we all know about the comments that Dog the Bounter Hunter made. I’m sorry but someone taking a pic with a black person is not enough to convince me that they aren’t racist! no, dissing Michelle doesnt necessarily makes you racist as she is a political figure and therefore is subject to an occassional teasing,however in Scott Baio’s case I strongly suspect that racism is behind his motives for the picture that he presented.In January of 2004 The Panache Report made several referances to his encounters with blacks along with some of his comments and they strongly suggested that he is person with some serious racial attitudes, he has been reported as being extremely hostile to a black employee because he dated a white girl and he,Scott broked off a relationship with a woman after he discovered she had black blood,also,some Blacks who have met him feel that he avoids eye contact and seem to feel uncomfortable in their presence.Dont let that picture of him hugging a black woman fool you its just good public relations designed to save face.I dont know Scott personally but I am well familiar with his reputation and now with this picture, to me,its no longer just his reputation,its an undeniable fact- Scott Baio is a racist.

Damn – there are enough REAL racial issues to focus on rather than this kind of petty crap. This is exactly why people have grown numb to these kinds of outcries – too many ‘cry wolf’ scenarios mask credible occurences that need to be addressed.

Presidents and their families have been fair game for both valid as well as subjective criticism for decades. Just because the current President happens to be black does not make EVERY snide comment a racist one. Sure plenty of bigots will come out of the woodwork here and there as a result – but for the most part – you’re looking at your usual political banter.

Now a year into Obama’s presidency, he needs to be held to the same standards – and criticisms as every other president before him. It’s not enough to be black – he needs to actually focus on getting the job done.

So far we’ve received a failed stimulus package (2.7 Million additional jobs have been lost since it was passed), a failed health-care reform, failed to win 3 key elections to maintain the senatorial majority and a strong decline in national security- considering the recent blunder with the “fruit of the loom” bomber. None of these issues are relevant to his skin color – but much more a representation of his ineffectiveness as a leader.

If I’m labeled a racist solely because I am a man with white skin, and absent any evidence based on my actions that I engage in racism, does that prejudice not also meet the definition of racism?
I realize you may think “Oh, he’s White, he just doesn’t know what it’s like”, and I would fully agree, because I am not you, I don’t know what you have experienced.
