I swear it’s always good to see some good news about our young black men considering some days I even wonder if some of them know which is up because I constantly encounter groups of young men who rather be the next big rapper instead of the next Charles Drew or Ernest Just.

This is phenomenal and the type of image I love to see in the news. This lil cat makes me extremely proud!

I’m pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before someone gets on here and talks about how “lame” he is for being intelligent and being into the books and not trying to hit the herb.

This is the kind of news we need to hear about more often.

LOVIN THIS STORY 2 PIECES! My daughter just turned 3 Dec. 7th & she spells her ENTIRE first name both by identifying the letters and without looking! Now we are working on words such as Cat, Dog, Frog, and Car. She can spell Cat, and hopefully the other words come to her like a breeze of cool air! She’s knwn her colors since she was 1 1/2..she’s been saying her alphabet since she was able to talk…I am sooooooooooooo sooooooooooo sooooooooooooo proud of my daughter! Maybe the next time yall here a story like this one, my daughter will be featured individual..I love you Arayah!

Wonderful news! Many of our children have this capability, but are in need of naturalizing and nurturing their needs as a scholar. As a person involved in the school system and athletics I say this is such a blessing to read. And yes, BLAK_BUTAFLY you are completely correct sista. Finally a story worth reading, OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURe, my 13 yr old cousin is in the 9th grade, he among only 12 other students in his school were promoted from the 7th grade to the 9th, he is truely academically gifted, the sky is the limit for him! As well as for you Mr. Stafford, I commend his mother! This story makes me think back to my own school days I was delayed because i had seizures as a child but i did not let that stop me i was determind to excel in school, i recieved 1′s on my EOG’s with the help of my family and tutors i over came my learning disabilities and i became mainstream (included in regular classes), i went on to college and recieved academic scholarships, and maintain A’s and B’s we must strive for greatness and never accept defeat! Stephen and Shawn(my cuz) may you continue to excel in your studies, God willing! Times have changed for the better, our youth will better the world we live in, if parents would spend more time with them, you never know you may be raising a genius~

FYI, I didn’t watch, the headline alone was enough for me to know it had no value. I have two reactions to your “don’t like it don’t watch” reply. First off, everybody who is dumbing down the masses with foolishness says the same thing. Also, one can hardly get through a day without you posting some nonsense that Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck has said to hurt your feelings. How come you’re not following the same don’t like don’t watch instructions you are willing to give to me, with respect to those two “entertainers?” Lets keep it consistent!

Well, this definitely over-shadows the story about the little boy that had stolen his grandmother’s truck to do “hood rat things”.

A few things that I noticed in the clip: the parents are together (married) and got very involved with their son at an early age. They didn’t leave his learning solely up to the teachers, latchkey, etc. They took responsibility for him and gave him structure. I love the fact that they home-schooled him, too. I support home-schooling and wish parents would join together to create small home-school communities for their children.

Also, judging by the looks of the mother, they seem to be in their mid- to late-30′s. Older parents generally are more mature minded and focused on their children more. I know this is a generalization, but by and large, how you raise your kids when you start having them in your early 20′s will be a lot different from when you have them in your 30′s.

I’m not saying that these factors will make any child a genius and be college-ready at the age of 13, but what this boy’s parents have done helps support the theory that two parents are better than one, parent involvement is critical, and having children later in life can be a huge benefit.

Achieving greatness or significant academic achievements should BE “the rule and NEVER the exception in every black home.”

And this is where far too many black parents DO fall short. For our black children ARE capable of becoming academic champions. But the myriad of problems that many black children face besides parents or a parent that is not academically motivated, let alone remaining informed, are public schools whose curriculums focus on not only building additional schools to accommodate the children of illegal aliens, but have marginalized our potential black scholars. A racist tactic for sure. A long-time champion of education, my position is that if our black people are going to collectively “make our mark” in a system that historically has been designed to hold a “lock-out” on black people and ut” for blacks in terms of progression and effectively has managed to prolong “in-fighting” in our race, we must first recognize, learn and then KNOW “why” your brother or sista “is NOT your enemy”. We see how this plays out and the only affect that behaviors such as this has done is to continue to keep bros. and sistas alienated from one another. “Caring” is a dam good way to begin.

what kinda crap story is this? people would rather read about who is “dissin” who and which celebrity is cheating on their spouse. yeah right!

A spark of light in such a dark world…it’s about time. All we see and here about, this young brotha or sis’ta going to jail…did this or doing that! Now we have a story that can make all of us feel happy and proud for a change. Thank God! A spark of light in a dark world.

What is the purpose of stories like these? Is this an inspirational story? Does it make any child with average intelligence seem like they arent doing something right? What is the use of parading this sort of thing in front of kids when they can never be geniuses? In fact, a genius achieving a lot is not anything special… they are SUPPOSED to!

The purpose of stories like these Lorenzon323 is to let people know that teens no matter how many are actually learning in school to get an education. With the way teens act in school today it makes you stop and think to yourself why do they even bother go to school for because they not trying to learn nothing. That is why when I read about a story like this it makes me feel good to know that there is at least one teen who is smart enough to go to college at his young age.
