CHICAGO (AP) — A fourth teenager is due in court after being charged in the fatal beating of a 16-year-old Chicago honors student, who’s described by family as a “great kid” who loved school.
Eighteen-year-old Eugene Bailey is one of four people charged with first-degree murder in Derrion Albert’s death.
Bailey was due in bond court Tuesday. The other three were ordered held without bond Monday.
Cell phone footage shows a group of teens kicking and striking Albert with splintered railroad ties after the sophomore left school Thursday.
Albert’s aunt, Rose Braxton, told CBS’ “The Early Show” on Tuesday that her nephew was a “great kid” with an “easy-going temperament.” Albert’s grandfather, Joseph Walker, added that he doesn’t plan to watch the video of the attack because he wasn’t there to protect his grandson.

Three teenagers have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 16-year-old boy whose beating was captured on amateur video.
One of the three is a minor, but all will be charged as adults, prosecutors in Cook County, Illinois said Monday.
They are charged in the death of Derrion Albert, an honors student who was beaten to death last Thursday. An amateur videotape of the beating has been broadcast nationally.
It’s unclear who shot the footage, but a local television station that received the tape turned it over to police.

Police declined to give further details of Monday’s security plan for Fenger High School
Family members believe Derrion Albert was fatally beaten on his way from school for refusing to join a South Side gang. But some witnesses say he was a bystander who was swept into the violent fight.
A vigil for Albert is planned outside the school Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, police are investigating the incident, including video allegedly taken by a person at the scene. Black people if u live in this type of neighborhood u need to take control. Don’t depend on the police because they are fearful of Rev Al and other oganizations that sue them. harsh i know, but its the truth…Im only 19 and I help the kids that want help in my neighborhood. I open my home up, i tutor them, we go to the library sometimes, I walk them to and from school before I go to class. i talk to their parents. I babysit (when i dont have class) and take all the kids to parks when their parents aren’t home. I have a couple kids whose mothers are prostitutes and im the only 1 they can look up to. I even take these kids to the museums and all. When im am finished with school I will open up programs for the youth and other programs for women. I feel for these kids out here because even though I have no parents, I am blessed enough to not take it and use it to go out and act crazy. Situations like this is very sad, but what pisses me off the MOST is you all that preach but dont lift a finger to help. You guys say we need to unite and that we are all “brothers & sisters” but it gets tiring for us that are actually trying to make a difference out here. So please stop with all this fake b.s ACTING like u care when in actuality you just feel bad as of RIGHT NOW.

Reading alot of the comments greatly shows that we have difference of opinions which means we are all different. One particular blog stands out asking what will happen to many of our communities in the next ten years or so since the older generation is getting older. To answer that, one must remember what Bill Cosby stated. That our communities will be divided drastically. Unfortunately, we will have the educated, ones that succed and dissassociate themselves from the hood, ghetto, or lower class, and the ones that are left behind. People, there are many educated black families. Men and women, singles, and married couples. For those of us that have chosen not to accept the norm and moved to better our lives, we are advancing. For the keeping it real and the ghetto allstars, it is only going to be a continuous cylce. The solution is not going to be easy. There are many factors that our communities are up against. Many successful blacks that choose to not only leave and forget where they came from but marry outside of their race and forget themselves that they are black and that for now, whether you are in Ny or Az, any niga screws up, the powers that be still labels us as the same. Unfortnatnely, I am one that moved away and up until now was pretty selfish. Overall, just because you or I have made it in this world does not mean we should forget our fellow brothers,sisters, and children. I think it is our duty to make a commitment and return and offer a helping hand in the community instead of rolling in a new whip and jewels just to show off. I should know, I was guilty of doing it.
