Isolated incident. Although tragic, it’s just news so the media is jumping on the band wagon. What’s going to happen when things quiet down and return to normal. Are you willing to put an end to the tradgedy?

Jeffrey1975, I couldn’t agree with you more. This TRULY saddens me. I am raising a teenage son alone and I am often conflicted with what kind of encounters he could face on a day to day basis. Although we are blessed to live in a nice neighborhood and an area that is not highly populated or crime stricken it still doesn’t exclude him from the possibility. Inner cities (Detroit, Chicago,New Orleans, Los Angeles etc etc.) are PLAGUED with violence and it seems like society has become “desensitized” to violence. Everyone wants to “exploit” black on black crimes in the media but not enough people are lobbying to FIX the problem. I can only pray that the face of America changes because from the look of things Iraq is not the only place facing a war.

Need some facts before we jump to conclusions about inner-city violence. Are the violent crime rates actually increasing or are these just incidents that happened to catch the attention of the media? I can tell you, having worked in the juvenile justice field on the policy side for the past decade, politicians usually use these cases to leverage more tax dollars toward building detention facilities and prisons. Now, I think we all agree violent and career criminals should be incarcerated just as matter of public safety, but the folks who end up affected by increased use of incarceration tend to be the non-violent and first time offenders. Our problems are our problems. The solutions will have to be found within and we shouldn’t let others uses cases like this as excuse to push their political agendas…

So when is Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson gonna speak out on these issues?

Actually when is president Obama going to speak out about it? The gang violence in Chicago has been going on since the beginning of summer and CNN even did a special on it. The mayor didn’t even have the answers when he was interviewed and another offical called out Obama to do something since it’s his home state. It seems like Obama is more interested in bring the Olympic games to Chicago. He just went to Denmark to make sure that Chicago gets the games. They need to clean up Chicago in hurry for sure.

These are not isolated accidents these types of crime are happening almost daily. The reason for the crime is not all male schools, programs or the government. Of curse these entities should do more to prevent the problems but the main problem is the parents. For the past 25 years we have had people having kids and not teaching or taken care of them. The people in the black community are the major problem. Girls are having huge number of kids by different boys who are not responsible. The kids have no guidance and no one teaching them right from wrong, self respect or manners. The people in the community need to step up and start taken control and being more responsible. The people refuse to even work with law enforcement to remove the crime element. So if you have a entire community that thinks like this how can you help them? Today kids do and say things that I would never think about doing when I was growing up.

Something tell me the assailants were reared by Strong Black Women! ‘sic’
