I say good for him. I would say to any Sheriff or law man, to each his / her own. They (law enforcement) on all levels have always had the disecretion to enforce or not enforce any law they choose.

Arizona maybe the first state to pass SB-1070 into law but trust me Arizona isn’t going to be the last. The law don’t make sense if you are a U.S citizen you won’t need immigration papers and if you are here illegally you won’t have immigration papers. So a cop can basically arrest you for not having papers; cops can ask to see your papers if they suspect you of being an illegal immigrate. How do illegally immigrates look? Is there a certain look only people who came here illegally have?

The government is really f**king over brown people. Black people better watch out we could be next. Black and Brown people we need to stick together because we are in the same boat. Don’t think because our president is black and there is a Latina on the supreme court racism is dying it is alive and well. The new law SB-1070 is proof of that.

For those of you that have not read this law, READ IT!! I know that black people are notorious for not reading sh!t, but try doing so this time. The law prohibits racial profiling by the cops and other law enforcement officials. A cop can’t simply walk up to you in the streets and ask for your papers… ONLY during lawful contact and ONLY if they have probable cause. But I say this… If you are here legally, what the F*CK are you worried about?? I have been in this country LEGALLY for over 25 years and have never had anything to fear because I am SUPPOSED to be here.

This law is simply an extension of the federal law that is already in place. Since Obama and his lackey’s won’t enforce it, who’s left?? The states have an autonomous right to secure the safety of their LAWFUL residents. And to question the legality of this law WITHOUT questioning the legality of that assenine health care law makes no sense whatsoever. These people are breaking the law, plain and simple; laws that are in place to ensure the safety of the American people.

1. Doc**entation ensures that people’s backgrounds are properly checked prior to entrance. In that way, we make sure that we are not letting in any wanted criminals from whatever country they are coming from.
2. Inoculation ensures that people are not bringing in diseases that would endanger the health and welfare of the general public… or must we forget H1N1…

The last time I checked, none of them were ever shot 41 times while trying to reach for their ID, or beaten viciously by a mob of police officers. They did not participate in any of the fights that the past generations and leaders endured in order to secure the rights and freedoms of black Americans. So think carefully about who you are choosing to stand behind. Remember, THEY also held blacks as slaves, just like white America did.

Man I get racially profiled by cops daily, I even had cops admit the job made him racist against his own kind. I feel no sympathy especially when my broke ass has to pay taxes while fence hoppers don’t eff that. You only add to the national debt. This is America and the only color that matters is green. all you have to do inorder to stop a law or a popular concept is to attach it to a dispicable lable and mission accomplished. On touching the Arizona law,anytime the law is enforced there is a chance of racial profiling, I remember back in the 80′s when drugs were being transported via airplane by Black dealers,I noticed the extreme scrutiny given to me the only blackman in numerous lines in and out of Honolulu and LAX airports at the time.I was pained by it to some degree but understanding nonetheless, afterall, the custom agents didnt know me and the alert level for people fitting my description was understandably high.If we are honest as Black people and Hispanics, we would admit that we have our own type or tendency to racially profile whites and eachother as well:when the D.C. sniper was running around rampantly killing everyone from grandma’s to grandpa’s our initial suspicion or PROFILE was that of a crazed socially rejected White man untill we found out that the sniper was Black,the incident I mentioned concerning the Airport involved mostly Hispanic law enforcement officers who dilligently searched and researched my items with a voracity not applied to white passengers.In Hispanic countries,the economic condition for blacks is abject even for that region,Colombian paramilitary fighters actually seek out and kill young black children at night as a solution to keeping them off of the streets to discourage tourists, every black neighborhood in Cuba is constantly guarded,watched and scrutinized by White Cuban Militia-men all indicative of a deeply ingrained hatred Latinos have for Blacks or in other words,”PROFILING” so I marvel at a people whose practice of being discriminatory themselves be so intent on claiming it against others,its amazing how clearly we can see when we are the ones being threatened.Black America, trust me,believe me,this Arizona Law is one of the best things to happen for Blacks and Legal -American born Hispanics two groups who find themselves fighting against illegals who take their jobs,use up federal recources designed to help Americans and bring a very deadly drug war that so blatently disrespectfull of the law that it leaves scores of law enforcement agents dead on the streets of Juarez and set poised to copy its modis -operandi in places such as Atlanta and El Paso.

Getting back TO THE SUBJECT, If this sheriff refuses to enforce the law, then that’s his ass on the line. If he doesnt mind losing his job then oh well, that’s him.

How hard is it to carry around a drivers license, social security card, and green card. The best time cops to check for immigration status is at the immigration rallies. I bet about half is illegals. The law is totally legal all they doing is enforcing the federal law at state level. Someone has to enforce a federal law. I guess its cool for a state not to enforce murders and bank robberies.

Arizona is officially the most racist state in the country. If you don’t think that this law is targeting minorities especially Blacks and Latinos then you need to wake up.

Real talk they need to do something. Several years ago while in college I interned with the Federal Trade Commission as a consumer counselor. I dealt with victims of consumer fraud and identity theft and in the majority of my cases the identity theives were in fact Mexican. That being said, Mexicans get somewhat scapegoated because many Asians come here from Canada. As well as there being WAY too many Africans, Indians, Arabs, and Euro white folks which you never hear about. In any case, I had security clearance to access several government databases including the SSA, police reports, and could skip trace and pull credit reports like the bill collectors do to see what all damage has been done. I have seen people’s lives devastated by something as simple as someone else getting a job with your SSN. That income they(illegals) earned gets reported to the IRS by the company they worked for but you end up getting audited for undisclosed income, and for anybody that don’t know, the IRS is the last people you want on your azz. I’ve seen homes and cars bought, businesses started, people falsely arrested, and many other things as a result of somebody simply using your information. The issue goes so much deeper than just people coming into the country. It’s also about the non chalant attitude that’s taken when illegal immigrants come here and breed just to use services that are for citizens only(natural or legalized). The police in most cities didn’t do ish even when the identity thief was on the other side of town. Let’s look at it from a slighty different perspective; if someone snuck into your home while you were out, ate your food and drink, used your bathroom, slept in your bed, pretended to be you to people you didn’t know, and helped themselves to all the other amenities of your home, and didn’t pay for anything just because their home was run down, in a worse part of town than yours, and they simply didn’t want to wait to obtain their own home in your neighborhood like many of their neighbors did would that justify their actions? Illegal is just that illegal and people here ILLEGALLY should first have a tracking chip implanted and then be sent back to where they come from. That way if they try and sneak back in then we can find that azz and lock them up for a minimum 2 years so they get the point. How many times does something ridiculous have to happen, whether it’s a skyscraper being destroyed by a plane or someone’s credit ruined before enough is enough? All of this because of what…cheap labor, which is the only reason that illegal immigration is even tolerated.

I don’t understand…really. If you are in the U.S., you either have a passport/visa situation, green card…or you are a citizen. PERIOD. I’m all for people coming to the US to make a better life for themselves,it’s what my family did, from the west indies…but then when they got here…they became citizens!! Why do I have to pay taxes and they don’t? Why do I have to wait for medical care behind a long line of illegal immigrants? Americans need jobs right now…not illegal immigrants. African-Americans, Latin-Americans, Anglo-Americans, Asian-Americans, Native-Americans….those groups…not illegal immigrants. I’m as liberal as they come, not a right wing republican.
I know it’s hard for people to understand, but if you’ve lived in a border state, you’ve seen whats happening. It’s crazy. If they were all legal…whatever…good for them. But the vast majority just isn’t, look at the Census reports. California, Florida,Texas,Arizona…all did poorly with the census…hmmm..I wonder why, with the amount of people in California, they should have a super high population count, why don’t they?? ( New York did poorly too by the way)
Our immigration system is broken…fix it. Build a wall. Hire more border patrol agents, crack down on business that hire illegals,secure our social security info better, this is NOT the time to let people take jobs away from us.

I really hate this law and we should’ve takin care of this thing with illegals way back in 2000 or so but Bush decided to turn the other cheek. Thing is this is basically racial profiling. And police already have enough power as it it.

How is it racist to ask for someone to produce a drivers license or state identification while having interactions with the police? Americans are asked to produce ID all the time how is it racist to assume that if someone has no identification that comes from one of our fifty states they maybe in the country illegally? This is no more racist than the police calling in for a warrant check on somebody they’ve pulled over on a traffic stop. The law clearly states that once someone produces a drivers license from Arizona or any other state, any concerns about immigration status are satisfied.

When the Federal government with Ronald Reagan as President gave amnesty to roughly 5 million illegal immigrants, the government said that new tough laws were going to be used to prevent anymore illegal immigration. They passed the laws but never enforced them and in a 20 year time span Latinos have gone from 4% of the U.S. population to 15% according to the 2007 Census. The Arizona law mirrors the Federal law that was passed by a Democraticaly controlled Congress after the first amnesty. How many illegal immigrants are enough and to what benefit does it do our country to continue to absorb millions of uneducated and poor when we have millions of poor that are not achieving but we haven’t yet adequately addressed?

@Mz-Knightowl, don’t be so quick to judge. Most people commenting on this topic seem to make a lot of sense to me and I think that everyone is aware that this law does not pertain to just “Hispanic” people. I could’ve sworn that people immigrate from all around the world to the United States both legally and illegaly not just from Mexico. This needs to stop on a whole. With a war, recession and unemployment at an all time high, things are about to get really ugly in this country and it wouldn’t behoove “illegal immigrants” to try and pull some of the stunts they are pulling. And also, no one was on a mission to get “hispanic” people out of America. The mission was to try and get “illegal immigrants” who just so happen to be predominately “Hispanic”, along with an array of other nationalities, due to their geographical location.

Bill Clinton started all of this crap with NAFTA. Mexico’s economy was fine before that.
