@bubbles…if you SERIOUSLY think this bill is about protecting you, and NOT further protecting the Insurance providers, you are sadly mistaken….Government works hand in hand with corporations, this is why you see major bail outs of the banks and car companies..I feel your pain and frustration towards this issue, but Obama and this plan WILL NOT change much of anything…you want real reform to healthcare, tell Obama to change the rules concerning purchasing insurance…As it stands right now, you have to stay in state to get your insurance, which limits you to a few companies..because of that limitation they can charge more because you have no real choice, take it or leave it..If you were allowed to purchase insurance anywhere in the country that you want, guess what? companies will be competing for your business which will drive the costs down..Look at the Cell phone companies…the more companies that come in and you can choose from, the better the deals are for you. Obama DOESN’T want this changed because he gets a lot of money from insurance companies…Listen, I like Obama too, but I can’t let my personal feelings towards him, allow me to overlook the same dirty tricks he is playing like his predecessors…want more information, read articles by Steve Forbes concerning real healthcare reform.

The meltdown was not the direct result of a few people on Obama’s team that happen to come in at the end of Bush’s term…The meltdown was the direct result of the booming economy of the 1990s…get ya facts straight. When the borders opened and jobs left the US…it dropped the value of the dollar…September 11th played a major role in the sudden drop of the dollar…the housing market (predatory lending…people taking in more debt than they can afford…people over pricing homes..etc) dropped the value of the dollar…Feds kept pumping out money…Madoff and others were running scams of biblical proportions…and no one was being regulated…this is what they want (the greedy).

Alan Greenspan, who was the former chairman…was there through the Clinton administration and most of Bush’s administration..till the end when Bernanke took over. He warned a long time ago that what was going on in the 90s would come back to haunt the economy. Also in 2005…DO YOUR RESEARCH..there were ALOT OF WARNING SIGNS OF THE IMPENDING HISTORIC FALL OF THE ECONOMY..the fact is, no one did anything…they just waited, hoping that the fall was just a figment of everyone’s imagination.

Do your history, there is a boom and bust cycle in the economy every 8 years…approximately..some are worse than others, but it always comes…no matter who is in office. I don’t know about you bro, but maybe you had more patience with Bush who was in office for 8 years…took away your freedoms with the Patriot Act…ran up the national debt to historic levels, and fought a preemptive war that was unnecessary…IN 8 YEARS. Obama took over the economy, war..and ever problem that the Bush administration caused…No other president in HISTORY…has taken over so much…with the added fact that he is half black…give the guy a break.

When the economy is down, we want the government to do something…when someone attacks us…we want the government to do something…when there is a natural disaster…we want the government to do something…but we don’t want them controlling our lives………hypocrisy? To everyone: The civil rights act wasn’t perfected in one bill…Neither was the Constitution….HENCE AMENDMENTS. The point is to get a bill passed. People will find loopholes even with a “perfect” bill. Those loopholes will get closed eventually.

Hey Alpha, you left out some very important facts, that you should try to get straight…First of all, we live in an economy that operates on growth and recession..the problem is, when the growth is built on sand, it won’t sustain itself..This is otherwise known as bubbles…but as in all bubbles, if they inflate too much they burst..This latest collapse we are suffering is due in large part to the housing bubble that had housing prices increasing at ridiculous rates…from that came a shadow market also known as the derivative market…I won’t get into that here, but also spun off of that was what was called Credit default swaps, another subject I will leave alone for the interest of space…the fact is, these “instruments” grew to be worth 60 trillion dollars..well there is a slight problem..the entire world GDP is only 30 Trillion…This is why when these housing values fell and most of these banks who were leveraged 35-1 (and more in some cases) blew up…This is why simultaneously, all 6 of the major investment banks were in danger of collapsing..Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch sold to other companies, Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, and it required &700billion of relief (welfare) to save the others…this sent shockwaves throughout the entire world economy, and there are still after shocks today…You say that there is a boom and bust every 8 years, but the fact is, there doesn’t have to be…This bust period comes after artificially inflated bubbles and what ends up happening is a transfer of assets and capital..The FED and top CEO’s always weather these storms…You should do some research on the Federal Reserve, it would be helpful in clearing up your confusion on this topic…You are mistaken about Bernanke calling this bust, in fact as late as 2007, he said the fundamentals of the economy were strong…sound familiar?? yes, that’s what McCain erroneously repeated, thinking it was from a reliable source. The repealing of the Glass-Stegall act was instrumental of removing the regulations that was in place to stop investment banks from getting into trouble like this. Larry Summers who was the Treasury Secy at that time, hailed this bill, and Bill Clinton signed it…also, Geithner was the Chairman of the NY Fed at that time which made him standing member of the FOMC during his tenure..Alpha, these group’s main duty is to shield the economy from these collapse’s..There idea of shielding is let it happen, then throw stimulus money at it to re-inflate the bubble…its pure nonsense! ..Lets just say for arguments sake, that they didn’t see this coming, do you want someone that blind to actually be the one’s trying to fix the problem, after they have demonstrated an inability to see these coming..
