Black Unemployment Hits 27.8% In Michigan

Unemployment among African Americans in Michigan is likely to hit 27.8% by mid-2010, a Washington, D.C.-based economist predicted today.

Lawrence Mishel, president of the non-profit think tank Economic Policy Institute, said black unemployment in Michigan will be the nation’s highest, far above the predicted black jobless rate nationally of 18.1% at mid-next year.

    theres not too many black owned businesses around here and on top of that you get into some of these places and the white folks be trying to get you out or not hire you. I was among those that were unemployed but not any more. Most employers in michigan run through temp services which hire you through them and have your there until your 6 months are up and ready for you to be hired in by the company and then they will let you go to bring some one else in so they wont have to pay benefits. They need to make a law to cut out the middle man stuff like the temp services and make employers stick with the trial hire policies along with making it a law that these companies cannot close their doors and move out of the united states and then ship their goods back into the usa. These companies need to be boycotted.
